Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 337 Adding Some More Ingredients
On the eleventh day, the team returned to Liberty City.
The city gate was crowded with people—old people, women, and children—all waiting.
When they saw the troop return and the grain on the carts, some cried, some laughed, and some knelt down to pray.
Lyon dismounted, ignored the people, walked straight into the administration building, closed the door, and sat alone in the darkness.
He needed to catch his breath and enjoy this moment of peace.
Sofia pushed open the door and came in. There were no lights on. She walked over to Lyon and sat down.
"We have enough food to last a month," she said. "Adding to the existing reserves in Liberty City, it will last at most forty days."
Lyon remained silent.
"And what about forty days from now?" Sofia asked.
Lyon remained silent for a moment.
"Then organize more forces to continue expanding the search area. If those monsters stop attacking the area around Free City, organize people to quickly plant and harvest crops."
"We cannot sit idly by and deplete our resources; we must have a stable grain production."
Sofia nodded and sat down next to Lyon to keep him company.
Outside the window, on the streets of Liberty City, the refugees were still waiting to receive their share of porridge.
All he knew was that he couldn't fall; if he did, these people would truly have no hope.
As for the spirits of the dead, the man in black robes, and the prophecy of the savior, we'll talk about that later.
Just get through today, then get through tomorrow, and keep going day by day until the day you finally get through it all.
Perhaps one day I'll wake up and all those terrifying undead will have vanished...
...
Lynn was also observing Lyon as he performed his act of salvation.
As Leon takes the initiative to gather food, slay the undead, and save humanity, he absorbs more and more of the world's power, but the process is still slow.
Lynn couldn't wait any longer; he didn't want to waste his precious time here, so he decided to speed things up...
More than ten days later, the square in Liberty City was packed with people.
Refugees poured in from all directions, setting up sheds, laying out straw mats, and cooking.
Children weaved through the gaps in the crowd, elderly people dozed against the wall, and women sat on the steps holding babies, lost in thought.
The air was filled with the smells of sweat, urine, and the faint aroma of thin porridge.
Lyon stood on a high platform at the edge of the square, arms crossed, looking at the chaotic sea of people.
Sofia stood beside him, holding a notebook filled with numbers.
"Another three hundred people have arrived in the East District. The South District is too crowded, and the sheds in the North District have collapsed. We need wood and canvas."
After she finished reading, she closed the notebook.
"Lyon, we really can't hold on much longer."
Lyon remained silent.
He looked at the Statue of Liberty in the center of the square, a bronze statue holding a sword with the tip pointing to the sky.
That was the symbol of Free City, and also his spiritual pillar.
The base of the goddess statue is now filled with refugees, and there is even a piece of clothing hanging on the hem of her skirt.
"Hang on a little longer," he said. "We have enough food for another twenty days. Within those twenty days, we must find a new source of food."
Sofia was about to say something when she suddenly sensed something was wrong.
The surrounding air became viscous, as if it were being pressed down by something.
The people in the square also noticed it; the noise gradually subsided, and everyone looked up at the same time.
There was a person standing in the sky.
He wore a black robe, had black hair, and a cold, stern face as he looked down at the crowd.
He hovered in mid-air, without wings, without a mount, and without any support.
Sunlight shone down from behind him, hiding his face in shadow, only his eyes shone brightly.
This person was naturally Lynn, who had been waiting impatiently.
Lyon's pupils contracted sharply.
He recognized the face—the master of the undead, the leader of the monsters.
He had seen that face before, in countless nightmarish nights!
"You..." Leon's hand rested on the hilt of his sword, "Demon, what are you doing here?"
Lynn looked down at him, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"You've been living too comfortably lately, so I'll add a little something extra for you."
Lyon's heart sank.
Adding something extra? That's clearly not a compliment!
He glanced at the terrified faces in the square—old people, women, children, thousands upon thousands of people crammed together, with nowhere to escape.
His mind was racing.
If a fight breaks out here, all of these people will die!
But... if we can take down this person here, the crisis for the entire world will be resolved.
The dead will vanish, the plague will disappear, and everything will be alright.
In that case, a few sacrifices are nothing!
Thinking of this, Leon's fingers tightened around the hilt of his sword.
"Sofia, step back."
Sofia did not back down.
She gripped the staff tightly, and the gem at the top of the staff shone with a silvery-white light.
That was the last bit of power left by the god of wisdom. After the god's fall, she relied on this last bit of power to maintain her clarity and rationality.
Given time, she might be able to regain faith, seize the power of wisdom, and become a new goddess of wisdom.
But now, she's just an ordinary person who knows a few spells.
The guards pushed forward, brandishing their spears, trying to block Lyon and Sofia.
Some shouted "Protect the adults!" while others shouted "Take him down!" The voices were chaotic and the slogans were loud, but their hands were shaking.
Lynn smiled faintly, raised his right hand, and a ball of grayish-white light shone in his palm.
The ball of light was spinning rapidly, faster and bigger, making a buzzing sound.
That was a spatial storm, fragments of space compressed to the extreme, each capable of slicing through steel, stone, and bone.
Sensing the impending death, people in the square began to scream. Some retreated, some ran to the sides, and some collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
Lyon did not retreat. He drew his greatsword, charged forward, and slashed at Lynn's neck.
The blade sliced through the air with a sharp whistle.
But... it was all cut off.
Leon paused for a moment, then swung his sword again, but missed again.
He slashed three times, each time passing right through Lynn's body as if he were cutting through thin air.
Lynn stood there, motionless, a faint smile still on her lips.
"Impossible..." Leon gritted his teeth and swung his sword again.
Sophia raised her staff, and a silvery-white light shot out from the tip of the staff, heading straight for Lynn's chest.
The light passed through Lynn's body, struck the wall behind him, and blasted a crater.
Lynn, however, was completely unharmed.
He looked down at the direction from which the silvery-white light exploded, then glanced at Sophia, still with that indifferent expression.
"Don't waste your energy," Lynn said. "We're in different dimensions; you can't hit me."
Lyon's hand froze.
Lynn tossed the spatial storm between his hands, like playing with a ball.
He sat down in mid-air, and a black chair materialized out of thin air beneath him.
It was formed from the energy of death; there was a skull relief on the back of the chair and bone claw decorations on the armrests.
Lynn leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and placed the spatial storm on the armrest as if it were a decorative piece.
Leon stared at the chair, then at the spatial storm, his face turning ashen.
He realized the gap between them.
It's not just a little bit, it's a world of difference.
This person could kill them with just a flick of his finger.
But he didn't...
He was playing, like a cat playing with a mouse...
