Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 322 The Hidden God of Plague
Lynn looked around and saw that all the divine kingdoms were shattered, and the gods were no longer there.
But there is no trace of the Plague Kingdom in this.
Lynn carefully sensed the void, scanning it inch by inch with his mental power.
There was no divine kingdom, no energy fluctuations, nothing at all.
But the academy's intelligence is accurate; a god has indeed awakened in this world. It seems that the so-called God of Plague has hidden himself and his divine kingdom.
Lynn hovered in mid-air, pondering for a few moments.
The seven divine kingdoms were shattered, and the gods disappeared without a trace.
Where did they go? Are they dead?
Hmm...that's possible.
Who did it? Of course, it was the plague god who woke up prematurely.
While the other gods were still asleep, he destroyed their divine kingdoms, killed the deities, plundered their divine status, and then hid away to digest it.
It has already plundered seven divine cores. If it digests them all, it will be at least at the peak of the main god level, and may even be close to the threshold of the god-king level.
Lynn's face darkened.
It must be stopped!
But... its divine kingdom is hidden, what if we can't find it?
He looked down at the gray-yellow earth below.
Deities rely on faith; the more believers there are, the stronger the deity becomes.
A massive amount of faith can greatly enhance a deity's power in a short period of time.
But the reverse is also true: if there are no believers, the gods are weak, which is also a major weakness of the gods.
The plague god must have made a big show of it; it couldn't have been without reason. Let's find out what's going on first.
Lynn raised his hand, and the Phase Soul Lamp was activated.
Hundreds of shadowy flying insects emerged from the light, drifting silently downwards like a moving dark cloud.
He closed his eyes and connected his consciousness to the swarm network.
The flying insects scattered; some flew towards the city, some towards the village, some flew upstream along the river, and some searched close to the ground.
Their perspectives overlapped in Lynn's mind, like countless screens playing simultaneously.
The first scene is of a city, not large, but crowded with people.
The streets were filled with clergy dressed in grey-green robes, carrying incense burners and swaying them as they walked.
The smoke rising from the incense burner was green and carried a strong medicinal smell.
The patients by the roadside knelt on the ground, desperately inhaling the smoke, their faces flushed with a sickly redness.
In the center of the city stands a massive temple.
In the square in front of the temple stands a stone statue, a human figure so thin it looks like a skeleton, with a pointed mouth and monkey-like cheeks, and eyes that are two red gems that gleam eerily in the sunlight.
Temple of Plague!
Lynn zoomed in on the image; a long line of patients stood at the temple entrance.
Some were carried, some crawled on their own, and some had already fainted and were being dragged by their families.
The priests in the temple distributed potions one by one, small bottles of green liquid that glowed.
The patient received the medicine, knelt on the ground, kowtowed, muttered something, and then drank it down in one gulp.
After drinking it, the pustules on his face began to scab over, his breathing became easier, and he was able to stand up.
Those around who hadn't received their medicine kowtowed even more frantically, their foreheads bleeding profusely.
The second scene takes place in another city, smaller than the first.
A flag hung on the city wall, embroidered with the symbol of the plague god.
Two rows of soldiers in armor stood at the city gate, their armor bearing the emblem of the plague god.
They are checking people entering the city.
An old man was stopped, and the soldier lifted his clothes to see that his body was covered in sores.
The soldier didn't speak, but pointed to a small hut next to him. The old man was pushed inside, the door closed, and a scream came from inside.
A few minutes later, the door opened, and the old man was dragged out; he was already dead.
The people queuing next to them lowered their heads; no one dared to look.
The third scene is a village, at the entrance of which stands a stone statue of the god of plague, taller than a person.
Several tables were set up in front of the stone statue, and several clergymen were distributing medicine.
People lined up to collect their medicine, each holding a sign bearing the symbol of the plague god.
A young man without a sign was pushed out. He knelt on the ground and begged, saying that his child was dying, but the clergy ignored him.
He rushed forward to grab the medicine, but was pinned to the ground, beaten, and thrown to the side of the road by the soldiers nearby.
The fourth scene.
At the foot of the mountain, there is a dilapidated temple with a sign at the entrance that reads "Temple of Wisdom".
The door had collapsed, the wall had fallen, the statue had been smashed, and fragments were scattered all over the ground. Several people dressed in white robes knelt in the ruins, praying softly.
They showed no signs of the plague, but were extremely thin, with bloodshot eyes.
They heard footsteps outside and immediately hid behind a pillar.
A group of people dressed in gray-green robes walked by. The leader glanced at the ruins, spat, and led his men away.
The men in white robes emerged from behind the pillar, exchanged a glance, said nothing, and continued to kneel and pray.
But their deepest faith has long since gone unanswered.
The fifth scene shows another location, a campsite hidden in the mountains.
The tent was made of branches and animal hides, and it couldn't be more rudimentary.
In the center of the camp stood a flagpole, on which hung a tattered flag—the symbol of the god of war.
Beneath the flag, a middle-aged man in armor was giving a speech.
There were only a few dozen soldiers behind him, all wounded, but with fierce eyes.
"Brothers, I know you've been through a lot." The middle-aged man's voice was hoarse.
"Those bastards, the Plague, how many of our people have they killed? How much territory have they seized? Now the whole continent is kneeling before them, calling them gods! But don't forget, who the real god is!"
He drew his sword and pointed it into the distance.
"The God of War is not dead! He is just asleep! When He fully awakens, these plague dogs will all die! What we need to do now is live and wait for Him to return!"
The soldiers raised their weapons and shouted a few times; their voices were not loud, but they were firm.
The sixth scene is in the cellar.
Several people dressed in white robes sat together, with a book in the middle.
The book cover was worn and the words were blurred. An old man opened the book and muttered something to himself.
The person next to him repeated it, speaking very softly, as if afraid of being overheard.
"God of wisdom, grant us wisdom, so that we may find light in the darkness..."
There were footsteps outside the door, and everyone immediately fell silent. Only when the footsteps faded into the distance did they continue reading.
The seventh scene is in a dense forest, where a group of people are on their way. They are dressed in all sorts of clothes, including farmers, merchants, soldiers, and clergy.
The leader was a young woman wearing chainmail and carrying a two-handed sword. She stopped and glanced back.
"We're almost there. Once we cross this mountain, we'll reach Freedom City. There's no plague, no temples, no those bastards. We can start over there."
Someone asked, "Liberty City? Don't the people there believe in the god of plague?"
The woman laughed: "No, they don't believe in any gods, they only believe in themselves."
It wasn't until the eighth scene that Lynn finally saw something interesting.
Was he... a "chosen one"?
