Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 296 "Explorer"
Lynn was astonished as he stared at the extremely simple spaceship.
The spaceship is about thirty meters long, streamlined, and made entirely of metal and wood. It has huge wing-like structures on both sides of the hull and spews pale blue flames from its tail.
The ship's hull is fitted with dozens of round portholes, through which lights shine.
It is sailing inside the world barrier at a slow speed, heading slowly towards the outside of the world barrier.
However, the world barrier not only restricts the invasion of the world by "extraterrestrial demons", but also restricts the world's natives from entering the endless starry sky too early.
Without sufficient strength, entering the vast world of space too early will only expose one's own coordinates and attract invaders.
What the world's will was unaware of was that its own little brats had already sent out "invitations" to the starry sky.
Unfortunately, this invitation was intercepted by the Wizarding World, attracting the "Extraterrestrial Demons".
The closer the spaceship gets to the World Barrier, the stronger the traction becomes, and the slower its speed becomes.
With the spaceship's current fuel, it simply doesn't have enough to overcome this limitation.
The goblins had clearly noticed this and were preparing to return home.
Lynn squinted.
He was blocked by the barrier, and his senses couldn't penetrate it, so he didn't even sense the existence of the ship.
I only discovered this thing after I came in.
With a thought, his figure instantly merged into the void, entering a state of concealment.
...
"Explorer, speed 660 km/h, all normal! Sufficient fuel for return."
Inside the cockpit, a green goblin wearing a leather vest sat in front of the control panel, his two large ears twitching as he excitedly rubbed his hands together.
In front of it are rows of complex dials, levers, and buttons, so numerous that they are dazzling to look at.
"Grimm, you've said that eight times already."
Another goblin leaned lazily against the back of his chair, his short legs propped up on the control panel, munching on a piece of jerky.
"You have to report every fifteen minutes since takeoff."
"That's called meticulousness! Do you understand what meticulousness is?!" The goblin named Grimm turned around and glared at it.
"This is the first time the goblin race has ever left the atmosphere! The first time they've entered space! We are pioneers! We are heroes! Of course, we must record every single piece of data!"
"Yes, yes, hero." The goblin rolled his eyes and took another bite of jerky.
"When we get back, we'll have the elders cast a bronze statue of you and place it in the center of the square so that all the goblins can come and pay their respects."
"A bronze statue?" Grimm's eyes lit up, then he waved his hand, "Bronze is too cheap, it has to be iron!"
"Iron is cheaper."
"Then gold!"
"You're dreaming."
The two goblins were bickering, filling the cockpit with a cheerful atmosphere.
In the next few cabins, three goblins were busy at work.
One was checking engine data, another was organizing the collected samples, and a third was staring blankly at the starry sky outside the porthole.
Grimm glanced back at the dazed goblin behind him and called out, "Zek, stop daydreaming! Write down the current star map; we'll need it later!"
The goblin named Zeke snapped out of his daze, responded, picked up a notebook from the side, and peered out the porthole.
It squinted, carefully discerning the positions of the stars.
Suddenly, its gaze froze.
In the void to the left front, there is... a human figure?
Zik rubbed his eyes, leaned closer to the porthole, and stared intently in that direction.
There really is one person!
Wearing a long black robe, he floated in the void, looking this way!
"G-Grim!" Zeke's voice trembled. "Come quick! There...there's someone over there!"
"Who's there?" Grimm asked without turning around. "Are you hallucinating? This is the universe, how could there be anyone here?"
"It really is!" Zeke exclaimed excitedly, pointing out the window, "It's right there! Look!"
Grimm stood up impatiently, walked to the porthole, and looked in the direction Zeke was pointing.
There was nothing there.
The void was pitch black, with only distant stars twinkling.
"Where is anyone?" Grimm glanced at Zeke.
Zik froze, rubbed his eyes hard, and looked again.
There really was nothing there.
"I...I clearly saw it just now..." Its voice trailed off, "A person dressed in black, floating there..."
"The person in black?" Another goblin, who was gnawing on jerky, also came over and glanced outside.
"Zick, are you hallucinating because you've been in space for too long? Our probes have been running the whole time. If there were any life forms, they would have alerted us by now."
It pointed to the display screen on the control panel. The screen showed various data about the surrounding environment, and the "Life Detection" column clearly displayed "0".
Zik opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
It glanced out the window again.
There really is nothing there.
Could it really be a hallucination?
"Alright, alright, don't make a fuss." Grimm patted Zeke on the shoulder.
"It's normal to be nervous on your first trip to space. When we get back, I'll treat you to the most expensive ale to calm your nerves."
Zik forced a smile and nodded.
It glanced out the window one last time, then turned and followed Grimm back.
Outside the porthole, the void remained empty.
There was nothing there.
But they didn't notice that behind them stood a figure dressed in a black robe.
Lynn stood behind them, listening quietly to their conversation.
Although he couldn't understand the language of these little green creatures, his powerful soul and spiritual strength allowed him to clearly comprehend their meaning.
I sensed that there were five goblins on the ship.
Three were in the cockpit, one in the engine room, and one in the sample room.
He teleported in without alerting anyone. These goblins were so weak that they couldn't even sense him standing behind them.
He had already gleaned some information from the conversation.
This was the first time the so-called goblin race had ever flown out of the atmosphere, a truly remarkable step.
However, with their current technology, they are still far from being able to engage in interstellar travel.
Lynn quietly stepped out of the cockpit and crept towards the engine room.
Inside the engine room, a goblin was crouching in front of a huge metal device, twisting something with a wrench.
It had its back to the door, humming an unknown tune.
Lynn walked behind it.
The goblins were completely unaware.
Lynn raised his right hand and placed it on its head.
Mental power instantly invaded.
The goblin stiffened, then leaned limply against the wall, his eyes becoming vacant.
Its memories unfolded in Lynn's consciousness like turning the pages of a book.
The goblin world, called "Gruul," is a planet primarily based on technology.
The goblins don't focus on personal strength; they concentrate on engineering, mechanics, and energy.
Their means of transportation mainly consisted of various mechanical constructs, ranging from steam engines to internal combustion engines to nuclear power.
This "Explorer" is the pinnacle of goblin technology.
With a nuclear fusion engine and an all-metal hull, it can fly within the atmosphere and also enter space.
It is equipped with state-of-the-art detection equipment, designed to explore the secrets of the universe.
Lynn sensed the goblins' strength; even the strongest gene warrior was only equivalent to the initial stage of the first ring.
Most goblins don't even have a single ring, relying entirely on technology to make up for it.
For Lynn, this was an undefended treasure trove.
However, goblin technology is still extremely threatening to ordinary undead.
Three breaths later, Lynn withdrew his hand.
The goblin leaned against the wall, his eyelids twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes.
It looked around blankly, then at the wrench in its hand, and scratched its head.
"Strange...did I just zone out?" it muttered to itself, continuing to tighten the screws.
Lynn has already left.
