Chapter 631 Omen Song

Chapter 631 Omen Song

Rorschach and Thoth were still at the center of the celestial body. Black flames continued to spew fury at them, but Rorschach was not enduring the high temperature; he was suffering from something far more terrifying.

He saw all the sources of information collapsing and falling into chaos, everything becoming random and uncertain. If the man and the god did not repeatedly reshape the reality around them, they would be immediately swallowed up by disorder. Both energy and physical existence would be washed away into meaningless noise, disappearing into the afterglow of the extinction of all things.

The isolated polar demiplane has already been destroyed in a sense, and its fate will be a preview of the entire prime material plane and even the entire universe.

Thoth sensed the danger the moment the anomaly began. When his heart was gripped, he did not retaliate or defend himself, but instead distorted the plane barrier, attempting to contain the impact within his control and gather it into a giant sphere.

Therefore, the surging disorder and the space membrane intertwine, emitting pale arcs of light, which is the solar corona that people on Earth see when they look up.

Rorschach saw the heart shining brilliantly, its arcane light piercing the darkness. But he knew it was like burning resin; the brighter it shone, the faster its countdown to burning out would end. Originally, the heart had been pulled out by the Great Mother of Time, but now it was moving towards Rorschach on its own. Rorschach understood the Heart of Thoth's intention and snatched it from the black tide.

Such a light heart, lighter than a feather.

The form of the Mother of Inaccessibility has vanished; Her hatred and anger have gradually turned cold, revealing her true nature and origin. The Mother Goddess has received many titles, to praise Her achievements, and to express submission and fear to Her.

But all of that will become unimportant. The Mother Goddess, using the alien space created by Thoth, has usurped and modified it into her own symbol, reigning supreme over all gods and all things as a black sun. Rorschach had already seen it, seen the two black and white celestial bodies that were the origin of the world above the astral plane. Now he was certain that one of them was the Mother Earth, the Mother of all things.

The internal enemies, whether Rorschach or Thoth, will be the fuel that symbolizes His appearance in the world, driving His resurrection and coming.

In his struggle, Rorschach gathered his magic to keep himself safe amidst the chaotic surge, while simultaneously creating a black sphere. He attempted to create a spatial depression through the black hole, allowing Thoth's final efforts to converge inward and prevent the black tide from washing away and destroying the entire world.

The black tide changed under the light emanating from Thoth's heart, and Thoth's body gradually withered, his bird-headed eyes losing their luster. Rorschach's omniscient vision also slowly dissipated, restoring his original vision. Because of this, he was able to see a face facing him from within the black tide.

Luo Xia's heart skipped a beat, and in that brief moment of emotional turmoil, countless scenes flooded his mind.

The end point of the Creator, the beginning of all things, the distinction between yin and yang, like the division between heaven and earth, the material world and the symbolic world.

Countless lives are born from the feminine end, and when they receive the baptism of the masculine, they are severed from the mother.

Worship, betrayal, destruction, war.

What a classic scene! Rorschach had no right to refuse; he could only silently watch as the Mother Goddess created the world. To be precise, like the masculine Supreme God, she was the first product of the Creator's split, and then split from her body, giving birth to countless beings.

What gives these existences various forms and modes of operation, making them free and self-sufficient, is the masculine force, just as light allows us to perceive external objects through sight.

Then came destruction. To Rorschach's astonishment, the catastrophe had already occurred in the revolving lantern: stars were extinguishing, planes were collapsing, and deities empowered by yin energy were being devoured one after another. Was this the past or the future? Rorschach was somewhat doubtful. Judging from the fall of the gods, this was already a scene of the past. Considering the destruction of matter and planes, it shouldn't be something that had already happened; otherwise, what were they?

Finally, for reasons unknown, the Mother Goddess connected Rorschach's perspective to the outside world, and now he is like a high-hanging black sun, looking down on the earth facing its end.

Under the dark sun's rays, the seemingly solid land had become like spring ice on a river, and beneath the tranquil night, the eerie power of Mother Earth began to shake this fragile world.

Aside from the northern borders of the Empire, Istani was the first to be affected. The already polluted sea washed mutated and deformed creatures ashore. They climbed the slippery sea cliffs, bathed in the cold glow of the night, and swam upstream from the Tam River into the cities. When their numbers became terrifying, they finally bared their fangs and let out mournful howls at the common people.

The Empire and its allies were also attacked by monsters. The "Legions," which were nearly wiped out in the central region, experienced an explosive growth, bringing disease and famine, and cultists, inspired by the Black Sun, joined them. The Empire's villages were in the lean season, with the first wheat of the year still ripening in the fields. However, after the winds from the monster-infested areas blew through, the once juicy ears of wheat immediately withered, crops died, and livestock and people contracted diseases.

Clang—clang—clang—

The bells of the cathedrals of Valois and the Eternal City rang, but the sacred tolling seemed distorted by the dark sun, becoming particularly jarring. Believers and nonbelievers alike rushed into the streets. But this time, they were not there for any faith, nor did they shout any slogans; they simply numbly repeated the most intense and bloody atrocities of the past.

Soon, spontaneous groups began to gather in various cities. They tore apart the limbs of the living, raised spears with heads stuck in them, sang blasphemous songs incoherently, set fire to all flammable buildings, and stormed magic guilds and churches.

In the highest heavens, some of the roots of the Tree of Truth turned dark and twisted. Those mutated nodes were like cancer cells, not only expanding themselves but also releasing pollution into other nodes.

Rorschach could barely discern the passage of time. All these calamities did not occur in an instant, but rather over several days and nights. At first, influenced by the Mother Goddess, he was in a daze and did not notice the abnormal flow of time. Later, he discovered that although the changes were not obvious, there were still clues—light and darkness were alternating weakly and rapidly.

Perhaps from the perspective of the ground, there are only extremely dark overcast days and deep, lightless nights, with the only constant being the high-hanging black sun.

So how many days had passed in that instant? Last month? Or even a year?

Rorschach witnessed the unfolding disasters. At first, his emotions fluctuated, but gradually, a detached pessimism crept in. He had tried so hard, yet ultimately failed to prevent the catastrophes. It felt like he had lost a game, and now it was Game Over, the settlement time when he could do nothing more.

He watched from within the darkness. Yes, he was merely an outsider to this world. Perhaps the Mother Goddess knew his origins, granting him the privilege of witnessing everything. A detached indifference crept into his heart. This world would ultimately perish; whether he turned away or died, it would be meaningless, and he could no longer change anything.

Suddenly, he saw a figure in the fleeting images, and then he saw many familiar people. They were still struggling.

Luo Xia's body stiffened as he heard an urgent call in his ear—a woman's voice calling his name urgently.

He broke free from the vision and other senses imposed upon him by the Mother Goddess, and regained his senses. He was not dead, and the world had not immediately ended. Rorschach still clutched Thoth's heart tightly in his hand. This organ, as colorful as if carved from a gemstone, beat slowly and laboriously, its faint light not yet swallowed by the chaos within the black sun.

In its final moments before burning out, the Heart of Thoth suddenly erupted with a blazing gold, engulfing Rorschach.
