A mage? A spell engineer!
Chapter 319 The Great Melee
Chapter 319 The Great Melee
The Marquis also discovered that the red-robed mage might actually be Rorschach.
While secretly channeling his former power back into his body in an attempt to repair himself, he also tried to stall for time with questions. This seasoned veteran shrewdly realized this tactic might work: "Which of you is Rorschach? And who is the other one?"
Indeed, he succeeded. Rorschach, having revealed his face, didn't press his advantage but waited for the red-robed mage to act. The magical light concealing the red-robed mage's face dissipated, revealing a second Rorschach face. Although the face was identical, he was noticeably more lively, his expression more vivid, and his manners more impolite: "Old man, you still care about this? What's the use? Hmm, it doesn't matter, we'll both go!"
However, by this time the Marquis was almost ready. He stopped dealing with Double Rorschach and instead split himself into countless bat-like shadows that rushed toward the caravan, which consisted of the Rat Whisperers and the Grey Elves, while his main body swooped down toward Singlev.
How did Rorschach's team manage to turn the tide against the Marquis's power by "conquering" the "Kingdom of the Mouse Whisperers" and making the Shadowland acknowledge Singlev as the master of this region, thus choosing him as their representative of power?
Then the Marquis could follow suit. If he could defeat that noisy, childish army of the Rat Kingdom and slaughter all the Mudbloods and Ratmen, it would mean the Marquis had been defeated. The shadowy power within Singhlev would then return to his body, giving him enough strength to deal with Rorschach again.
Two of the slightly stronger split individuals once again faced off against the two Rorschach individuals. One was a middle-aged marquis wearing imposing armor and wielding a longsword with abandon, while the other was an incredibly sinister aggregate of Is power that had lost its human form and was almost like a bastard.
The Armored Marquis successfully closed in on the original skin, Rorschach, with his superb skills. He decisively used the dark longsword formed from the power of shadow, and Rorschach, unable to dodge, was completely cleaved in two. Just as the middle-aged Marquis thought he had succeeded, he suddenly realized something was wrong. At this moment, his opponent had actually made himself ethereal, and then an invisible super palm slapped him, slamming the middle-aged Marquis hard from the air to the ground.
Rorschach in red chuckled, "I've discovered that schizophrenia seems to be an epidemic here."
He was facing a dark, tentacle-like Marquis individual. Without any spellcasting assistance, he simply flicked his staff, instantly unleashing dozens of bright, high-speed spinning silver stars.
This is Ina's signature spell, which has a special effect on evil creatures. However, the original spell only produced three of them. Now, the Star Shot left the Fallen Marquis, who had rushed in front of the Red-Robed Rorschach, with no way to escape. He could only let the rapidly spinning stars, like out-of-control saw blades, frantically cut and twist his pure black body into rags.
Even so, this super bastard is still alive; tiny tentacles are pulling together from the broken wound, trying to heal.
Red-robed Rorschach raised his cane again: "If once isn't enough, try again." But this time he made a charging motion, and a divine radiance vaguely gathered at the tip of the cane, no longer forming a silver star, but a solid gold star.
The Fallen Marquis trembled instinctively, fear gripping him, and fled swiftly. However, the two Marquis clones had already achieved their objective; the other individuals and Shadow Guards arrived at the convoy and began preparing to reap the lives of the "invaders from the Rat Whisperer Kingdom."
The grey elves were bewildered by this battle, where magic and divine power mingled, chaos and order coexisted. They still remembered their most basic commands, raising their guns, swords, and shields in an attempt to protect their small, rat-speaking kin. The rat-speakers, on the other hand, summoned swarms of bats to engage the marquis's shadow guards in combat.
However, the main force was Caroline. She had already appeared, and a stagnant spatial wave spread out. The effect of this magic was "speed limiting". Movement below the critical speed would not be restricted, while movement above the critical speed, especially the individual shadow guards separated by the Marquis and moving quickly, was immediately severely slowed down, temporarily pulling their mobility back to a certain level.
Facing the hideous black monster, Sirsa drew her dagger and stabbed, but the monster instantly transformed and bypassed her attack, coming towards her like a lump of black mud.
There wasn't even time to use a scroll. Just as the Shadow Guard was about to slap her face and take her soul, a huge suction force suddenly appeared behind the Shadow Guard. Sirsa had to hold onto her weapon tightly, or her dagger would be sucked away as well.
With Sylvanas out of danger, Caroline asked the grey elf girl, "Are you alright?"
Sirsa nodded. "Thank you." This was the first time she had been saved by a human, especially a spellcaster. She watched the female mage protect the grey elves and rat whisperers, lost in thought.
On the carriage was a battle between the king and the marquis. The marquis's true form was already fighting with Siglev. The bard held his post, and the more intense the battle became, the more nervous he played his instrument. However, since this old man had little fighting ability, it was Benedict, wearing a mask and wielding a sword, with His Majesty King Siglev personally guarding him with a hammer, who fought the marquis.
The Marquis was relieved that Singrev was a half-baked king who couldn't properly control his newfound power and was just clumsily swinging his hammer. In fact, Singrev's choice to become an adventurer stemmed from his carefree and romantic nature, which was inherently incompatible with Is's fall and the rules of the Lord of Order. He was only enduring the burning of his soul by the power to help his friend Rorschach.
However, when the hammer is swung and a devastating hammer wind bursts forth, and when injuries can be instantly healed by the power of the Shadowlands, the uncomfortable dwarf is immediately immersed in the joy of "Battle, so exhilarating!"
The Marquis realized his plan had succeeded, but not entirely. The stalemate meant he hadn't regained his power, and the two Rorschach's were now free to clean up the mess. However, the Marquis had another trick up his sleeve; he wasn't fighting alone, even though his allies weren't human!
Rorschach suddenly noticed several powerful individuals emerging from somewhere in the core area. They were as tall as two stories, with no distinct head or body, and their shape and size resembled moving hills. They were pressing against the houses on both sides of the street, making a series of crashing sounds and billowing dust.
These beings have long arms and hands, wielding thorny clubs made from whole trees—essential for shepherds and the prototype of scepters. Around the massive shepherd's body in the shadows are a flock of "sheep," but to Rorschach, they are clearly humanoid creatures in sheep's clothing.
This wasn't the first time Rorschach and his companions had dealt with shepherds. When they visited the Marquis's mansion by carriage, a spirit-like hand reached into the carriage. Although the size differed greatly, Rorschach could sense that it was the same shepherd they were now.
To make a move? Wouldn't that create an opportunity for the Marquis? The original Pirosha faced the shepherds, while the red-robed mage turned to face his own side. These shepherds had roamed freely in the grassless Shadow City for hundreds and thousands of years; in the memories of the Sage's phantom, they might even be native to the Shadowlands.
These creatures possess powerful magic contained within their bodies. They lack the skill to utilize their magic, yet they are not to be underestimated. If they were to join the battle as allies of the Marquis, they could not only easily annihilate the Grey Elf-Rat Whisperer alliance but also potentially alter the balance of power between the two sides.
"Shall we fight?" The red-robed Luo Xia prepared dozens of golden stars that surrounded his body, ready to strike.
