Chapter 142: Starting with an R-rated horror movie?!
Instead of returning directly to the demi-human world where he initially started, Wang Bai's consciousness traversed the world network formed by the combination of the Imaginary Tree and Wang Bai's own demi-human abilities.
The surroundings were dazzling, dimensional scenes beyond human comprehension, with all sorts of bizarre and fantastical landscapes resembling a dream.
These are all information radiated from other worlds. After being received by the Imaginary Tree, they were transformed into Wang Bai's consciousness and instinctively converted into visual information that Wang Bai could understand.
But in reality, some of these worlds may have just been born, while others may have already perished; some scenes appeared a moment ago, while others will only occur minutes later.
Wang Bai was experiencing this mysterious state and was very curious about the information radiating from each world.
The Imaginary Tree within her body was slowly growing because it absorbed the energy and causality of the battle in the JOJ0 world, as well as the "experience" of successfully resisting the interference of the Incubators. Its roots seemed to be searching for more "soil" in the void.
Even though the Incubator civilization, which was defeated in the JoJo world, suffered heavy losses, a small number of remnants still survived and were "ejected" out of the JoJo world.
Wang Bai continued his search in order to completely eradicate the Incubator civilization.
However, amidst this relatively smooth journey, an extremely abrupt, blasphemous, and chaotic "noise" broke out.
It suddenly pierced into Wang Bai's senses!
This "noise" is not the cold, logically calculated data stream of the Incubator civilization, but rather a kind of frenzied bloodlust, distorted faith, and a mad will that tramples "order" itself underfoot!
It was like ink dripping into clear water, standing out out of place in the world as perceived by the Imaginary Tree.
Furthermore, Wang Bai astutely detected a faint but essentially identical causal signal from the remnants of the "Incubator Civilization"!
The incubators—are they also involved here? Or perhaps some dramatic change in this world has attracted them, even—beyond their control?
He focused his mind, guiding the power of the Imaginary Tree, like piloting a ship, towards the direction from which the "noise" came—
The coordinates of a world that seemed to be shrouded in blood and darkness were driven towards.
Finally, the light from the Imaginary Tree tore through the dimensional barrier, and a new world unfolded before his eyes—not the complete planet or continent he had expected.
The first thing he saw was a crimson sky. It wasn't a sunset; it was as if the entire sky was bleeding.
The enormous, twisted, cross-shaped object, made of flesh and metal, pierced the clouds and stood tall on the shattered earth like a ferocious forest.
The air was thick with the pungent smell of blood and gunpowder, as well as a kind of blasphemous madness.
However, the blood-red sky disappeared, replaced by a hazy, modern urban twilight sky.
The towering glass curtain wall buildings reflected the afterglow of the setting sun, the hustle and bustle of traffic, the flashing neon lights, and the hurried pedestrians—everything seemed like just an ordinary, busy urban evening.
"Was that just—a hallucination? Or a fragment of time?"
Wang Bai was filled with doubt and unease, but the intense sense of bloodshed and blasphemy felt too real.
Moreover, the faint tremor emanating from the Imaginary Tree within his body, as well as the faint causal thread pointing to the remnants of the Incubators, clearly pointed to this place.
He hovered atop a skyscraper, overlooking the seemingly peaceful city.
However, this calm did not last long.
Sudden-
"Ughhhhh!!"
A scream that was not human, a mixture of extreme pain and ecstasy, rang out from a coffee shop across the street!
It was like flipping an evil switch.
A man in a well-tailored suit, who was drinking coffee, suddenly smashed his coffee cup on the table, splashing scalding liquid all over him without him noticing.
His eyes instantly became bloodshot, and a twisted smile spread across his face as he grabbed a metal fork from the table next to him.
With an illogical speed and force, it suddenly pierced the eye socket of a lady sitting next to her!
"Pfft!"
Blood and brain fluid splattered everywhere.
The screams erupted like a plague, instantly engulfing the entire neighborhood!
But this is just the beginning.
At almost the same time, similar scenes were playing out on the streets:
A mother holding her child's hand suddenly grabbed her child's neck, her face displaying a bizarre expression that was a mixture of love and cruelty. As she watched her child's face turn red and purple from suffocation, she even let out a pleasurable groan.
The man driving the car suddenly swerved the steering wheel, crashing violently into the crowd on the sidewalk. The tires screeched against the ground, accompanied by the muffled sound of bones cracking and bursts of blood. Yet, he was excitedly waving his arms and legs in the driver's seat.
A group of teenagers who were originally arm in arm and laughing suddenly started biting and tearing at each other, fighting like wild beasts with their nails and teeth, not for survival, but simply for the pleasure of inflicting pain and watching each other scream.
The dam of reason collapsed completely in an instant.
Order has completely collapsed.
The streets had become a bloody inferno. Cries, laughter, pleas for mercy, curses, tearing sounds, and crashing sounds intertwined into a mad symphony.
Hell seemed to have been recreated on earth.
Wang Bai's pupils contracted, the scene before him confirming his perception.
This is not an ordinary riot or virus; it is a rule-level pollution that fundamentally distorts human nature, unleashing and elevating "evil" and "destructive desires" to the highest level!
Those infected individuals possess intelligence and may even retain some memories and knowledge, but all of this is now used solely to carry out atrocities more efficiently and "artfully."
"Help—help me!"
A young girl in a sales clerk uniform screamed as she ran out of a shop with a smashed window, followed by a man holding a broken bottle and looking frantic.
Wang Bai's eyes turned cold, and he was about to make a move.
"Bang!"
A crisp and distinctive gunshot rang out, not from a conventional gunpowder weapon.
The man chasing the girl's head snapped back as if struck by an invisible force.
His entire upper body instantly exploded into a cloud of blood mist, leaving only his lower body propelled forward a few steps due to inertia before collapsing.
In the distance, on the edge of the roof of a building, stood a figure.
She was a teenage girl wearing a police uniform, looking like a new recruit.
In her hand she held a huge, long-barreled pistol that was far beyond her size, entirely black and exuding an ominous aura.
What is most striking are her crimson eyes and her inhuman, cold expression that blends innocence and cruelty.
Silas Victoria.
Almost simultaneously, from the other end of the street, even more intense and violent gunfire and explosions rang out.
A white-haired woman dressed in a British military uniform and wearing a beret, wielding a modified submachine gun, danced through the chaotic streets.
Intgra van Bronck Wingate Helsing, a descendant of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, moved so fast that she left afterimages. Her weapon spat out tongues of fire, accurately and efficiently turning the onrushing infected into piles of minced meat.
Her face wore a fanatical and blissful smile, as if this bloody massacre was a grand celebration.
Helsing and her Hellsong Special Forces team also appeared, apparently carrying out a cleanup mission, but in a style that was full of violence and a madness of fighting violence with violence.
However, the number of infected people is too large, and they are constantly "converting".
Even more terrifying, some infected individuals began to exhibit extraordinary strength, speed, and even bizarre regenerative abilities. They used surrounding objects as weapons and even began to systematically besiege Silas and the Hellsong forces.
"Damn it! There are so many of these bastards!"
Silas remained silent, repeatedly pulling the trigger, but she also began to feel the pressure as the surging and ever-evolving frenzied crowd surged forward.
Just then, an exceptionally strong infected man, who appeared to be a former bodybuilder, picked up a motorcycle and, laughing maniacally, hurled it at Silas! The speed and strength were far beyond that of an ordinary person!
Silas's pupils contracted, and he was about to either take the hit head-on or dodge—
"Ansuz! Algiz!!"
Two ancient and majestic syllables rang out.
A semi-transparent barrier, inscribed with runes, instantly appeared in front of Sylas.
The motorcycle crashed into the barrier with a dull thud. Runes flowed, absorbing and deflecting all the kinetic energy it contained. The motorcycle twisted and bounced away, failing to harm Silas in the slightest.
At the same time, another rune, Kenaz, radiating a scorching and purifying aura, struck the infected man who had thrown the motorcycle with pinpoint accuracy, arriving first after the second strike.
There was no explosion, but the infected person was instantly engulfed in pale flames, letting out a shrill scream, which seemed to contain a hint of pleasure.
It was burned to a pile of charred ashes in just two seconds.
Everyone who witnessed this scene—whether it was the frenzied infected attacking or the fighting Sylas and Hellsong team members—froze for a moment.
Their gazes all turned to Wang Bai, the black-haired youth who had appeared at the edge of the battlefield at some unknown time.
A hint of surprise and wariness flashed in Silas's red eyes. She could sense that this person was neither human, nor a vampire, nor one of those madmen.
Helsing whistled and grinned, "Hey! Looks like a formidable ally has arrived? Or perhaps—a new 'trouble'?"
Wang Bai ignored their gazes and words, his eyes sweeping over this hell on earth.
Finally, his gaze fell upon the infected, who continued to emerge from every corner with twisted smiles, and he frowned deeply.
He could sense that the remnants of the Incubator civilization's cause and effect were hidden deep within this madness.
Are these two girls with extraordinary powers and their companions the "response forces" native to this world?
The battlefield momentarily froze due to Wang Bai's abrupt intervention.
But the distorted rationality of the Blood Cross Infected took less than a second to determine that the newly emerged individual was a more threatening "plaything".
More frenzied figures roared, their expressions of chilling pleasure as they pounced on Wang Bai from all directions!
"Watch out! They're not afraid to die!" Silas Victoria warned.
The huge gun in his hand kept firing, each shot like a small bomb exploding from the crowd, causing considerable casualties among the Blood Cross patients!
"The little girl is right! These bastards treat pain as pleasure!"
Helsing shouted encouragement as he fired his submachine gun.
"Hagalaz!"
Runes representing hail and destructive natural forces lit up, and the moisture in the air instantly condensed into countless sharp ice crystals, sweeping forward like a storm in a fan-shaped area!
The ice crystals were not a simple physical attack; the infected people caught in them were instantly riddled with holes, their movements became stiff, and then they shattered in the subsequent ice explosion!
Silas and Helsing, both seasoned warriors, immediately seized the opportunity.
Silas used his vampire strength and accurate shooting to pick off the slowed-down threats; Bernardet commanded his men to concentrate firepower and clear the area controlled by Wang Bai's magic.
During a lull in the fighting, Wang Bai quickly approached the temporary shelter where Silas and Bernardt were located.
"Are you the official forces here?" Wang Bai asked directly, his gaze sweeping over Silas's inhuman red eyes and the Hellsing badge on Bernardet's body.
"The HelIsing Organization is responsible for handling supernatural threats."
Silas spoke succinctly, her voice carrying the crispness of a young girl. She looked at Wang Bai warily, "Who are you? Your power—it doesn't seem like that of a magician."
"Passerby, what are these 'things'?"
Wang Bai didn't explain himself much, but pointed to the infected outside who were still attacking frantically, and even began to use their severed limbs and blood to smear blasphemous patterns on the walls.
Helsing lit a cigarette and put it in the end, cursing as he continued, "Blood Cross! That damn thing crawled out of some crack in hell! A virus, or a curse? Who knows!"
"Anyway, every infected patient will develop a cross-shaped scar on their face, hence the name 'blood cross'!"
He exhaled a smoke ring and continued to explain: "It started appearing sporadically about half a year ago and was initially thought to be an outbreak of extreme mental illness."
Later, the scope of his mother's activities expanded and the frequency increased!
The origin is unknown, but it is inextricably linked to a madman cult called "Holy Trinity"!
We suspect they created this thing, or it was "divine punishment" from one of their worshipped gods.
"As you can see, reason has collapsed and morality has evaporated!"
But they're not fools or beasts; they retain intelligence and memory, and are even smarter now. It's just that all their intelligence is used on how to kill, destroy, and have fun more efficiently and creatively!
Pain is the ultimate pleasure for them! We've encountered lunatics who, while ripping out their own intestines and using them as jump ropes, laughed as they shot at us!
