My necromancer career begins at Hogwarts
Chapter 16 Wailing Curse
September 1st, early morning.
Today is the first day of school at Hogwarts.
Morris had packed his luggage early and was now standing quietly in front of the door waiting.
He didn't have much stuff, just a suitcase and the ghost cat he was holding in his arms.
"Silly cat, you seem a little cold again." Morris gently stroked the can's head.
The can stretched lazily in his arms and nuzzled its head against his chest.
In the morning light, Maurice's shadow flickered.
It's fireworks.
It seems to be displeased again with Morris's affectionate behavior towards the can.
Morris could only manage a helpless smirk.
At that moment, a car came to a smooth stop in front of him.
"Good morning, Maurice," Harold said cheerfully, taking off his sunglasses. "How are you feeling?"
"Thank you for your help, Harold." Morris nodded politely.
Harold waved his hand, jumped out of the car nimbly, and helped him lift the suitcase and put it in the trunk. "Get in quickly, it'll take some time to get to King's Cross Station from here."
Morris, carrying the can of food, sat in the back seat and noticed a small paper bag next to him.
He opened the bag and found some irregularly shaped cookies inside, some of which had broken into several pieces.
"Oh, that's my daughter's craft project." Harold started the car, a smile playing on his lips. "You can try it, it's edible."
Thanks.
Morris picked up a relatively intact cookie and tasted it. It was very sweet and had a faint buttery aroma.
At least the recipe wasn't wrong, he thought.
The car drove smoothly on the increasingly busy road, and as usual, Morris closed his eyes and entered a meditative state.
This has almost become his daily routine.
It must be said that meditation can indeed calm one's mind.
With each breath, the noise of the outside world gradually faded away, and he seemed to enter a tranquil world where only magic flowed.
For Maurice, this feeling was extremely addictive.
Harold saw this through the rearview mirror and assumed Maurice was asleep, so he quietly turned down the volume of the car's music.
When Maurice opened his eyes again, the car had already entered central London.
"How much longer until we get there?" Morris asked, looking out the window at the increasingly dense traffic.
Harold replied, guessing, "About half an hour... Are you awake yet?"
No, I wasn't sleeping.
"Where were you just now?"
"I am practicing spiritual cultivation."
Upon receiving this reply, Harold was immediately puzzled. "Practicing magic?"
Morris nodded slightly and continued to gaze at the fleeting street scenes outside the window.
I don't know what kind of place Hogwarts is.
He was getting more and more excited.
"Can I visit your school?" Harold suddenly asked.
"I don't know, but I can ask the professor for you," Morris glanced at Harold in the rearview mirror, "but I think it's unlikely."
Harold nodded understandingly. "That's true, magic schools are definitely different from regular schools."
His tone was slightly disappointed.
With half an hour to spare, Morris focused his attention on the mage's book in his mind.
In the past few days, it has unlocked new content.
"Wailing Curse" is a new curse magic.
This magic can create various noises, similar to wailing, in the target's mind to interfere with their mental state.
Having learned from his first experience, Morris didn't spend too much effort learning this basic curse, and the process of building the spell model went relatively smoothly.
This may be one of the benefits of meditation.
Now, when he uses the "Curse of Weakness," the success rate is close to 100%.
The success rate of the new spell "Wailing Curse" is also over 50%.
"The Curse of Wailing!"
A wisp of almost imperceptible black energy seeped from his right palm and instantly entered him.
He had previously only tested the curse on animals such as birds and cats.
This was the first time he had used it on a human.
Almost instantly, a sharp scream exploded in his mind!
It was as if countless vengeful ghosts were screaming, crying, and wailing at the same time.
These sounds echoed endlessly within his skull, becoming unbearable.
Morris instinctively covered his ears, but found that the sound did not diminish at all—the noise produced by the curse directly affected the mind, and physical isolation was completely useless.
He gritted his teeth, trying to stay conscious.
This mental interference was stronger than expected, no wonder the mage's book categorized this curse as a "disruptive spell".
The noise gradually subsided after about ten seconds.
Morris let out a long sigh of relief, fine beads of sweat already forming on his forehead.
It is essential to experience your own magic firsthand.
Although the process was not pleasant, it at least proved that the spell was indeed amazing.
"What's wrong with you?" Harold asked, turning his head.
"It's nothing," Morris said calmly, wiping the sweat from his brow. "Just a little carsick."
He looked out the window and saw that the vehicle had already stopped.
"We're here, it's just ahead," Harold pointed to a building not far away. "Do you need me to go in with you?"
"No need," Maurice shook his head. "Then goodbye, Harold."
......
Dragging his suitcase and his cat, Maurice walked into the station.
"Platform 9¾, Platform 9¾..."
"It should be here."
He muttered to himself as he arrived at his destination—the middle of the space between Platform 9 and Platform 10.
There is a very abrupt partition wall here.
Just then, a girl with thick, long brown hair flashed by and disappeared into the wall. Morris only had time to catch a glimpse of her vanishing back.
That must be the entrance.
In addition, a couple of adults were standing by the wall, staring blankly at the spot where the girl had disappeared.
Morris felt that the couple looked somewhat familiar.
As he approached, the man in the couple gave him a friendly smile. "Ah, you're the kid from Diagon Alley!"
Morris stopped warily. "I don't know you."
However, after carefully examining the other person, that vague impression resurfaced, "Oh, you are...G...G...Okay, I don't remember."
"Granger," the man added helplessly.
"Good morning, Mr. Granger." Morris nodded politely, then asked courteously, "Could you please let me in?"
The Grangers then realized they were standing in front of the partition wall and quickly moved aside.
Morris nodded, said no more, and pulled his luggage straight to the partition wall.
As he passed through the wall, he heard Mr. Granger's surprised whisper behind him, "Isn't this kid a little strange?"
Morris was too busy to hear the rest of the conversation to follow, as he found himself in a completely new location: Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
Suddenly, a bright red steam locomotive appeared, belching thick smoke, parked beside the platform. A striking sign hung on its front: "Hogwarts Express."
"Hmm, a classic image," Maurice thought.
After looking around, he no longer hesitated, picked up his luggage, and boarded the train.
