Chapter 103 The Day the Exam Ended

Chapter 103 The Day the Exam Ended

After returning to his dorm, Morris had a good night's sleep.

After daybreak, he went to the restaurant for lunch on time.

At the Ravenclaw dining table, Cho Chang and Marietta were discussing a potion-making question—when to add chili pods when brewing an energy potion.

"Just put it in before it boils," Morris replied casually. "If you add it after it boils, you'll just get a pot of awful paste."

"You've tried it?" Marietta asked with a skeptical look.

You should know that energizers are a rather specialized kind of magic potion.

In their textbooks, it is only briefly mentioned, and practical application is not covered until at least the fifth grade.

Morris nodded matter-of-factly. "If you don't believe me, you can try it yourselves."

"I still think you're bragging," Marietta muttered.

Morris shrugged. "Trust me, Snape won't lose points for answering you like that... unless you're Harry Potter."

Qiu Zhang nodded gently. "I believe you, Morris. That's how you'll write it during the exam."

"A wise choice."

Perhaps because the exams were approaching, a strange atmosphere permeated the auditorium.

The students ate much faster than usual.

Everyone seemed a little distracted, hurriedly swallowing their food.

Only Maurice remained unhurried, scooping up the sweet porridge spoonful by spoonful, looking completely calm.

Soon, the restaurant was nearly empty, with more than half of the people gone.

When Harry appeared on the Gryffindor table, Maurice immediately darted over.

Harry looked preoccupied, with very noticeable dark circles under his eyes—clearly, last night's events had affected his sleep.

Ron and Hermione weren't in much better shape either. Ron kept yawning, and Hermione's already messy hair was now a complete tangled mess, a sight to behold.

Morris walked up behind them and said, "You guys aren't looking well. Did you go out and do something bad last night?"

Harry was startled. When he saw Maurice's face clearly, he looked around and waved frantically.

"Come closer, Maurice, I have something to tell you."

He felt he should tell Maurice what had happened last night.

Because Maurice was his friend, knew about the Philosopher's Stone, and was one of the few who wasn't afraid of the name "Voldemort."

Moreover, Morris is generally reliable and might be able to offer useful advice.

Morris did as he was told and leaned in to listen.

Just as he expected, Harry was referring to what had happened in the Forbidden Forest the previous night.

A strange man in black was drinking the blood of a unicorn, while the centaur Frenzer saved Harry and claimed the shadowy figure was Voldemort...

Strangely, however, Maurice did not appear in Harry's story.

This made him feel somewhat regretful.

He was quite curious about how Harry would perceive him after he appeared yesterday.

"Now we know why Snape stole the Philosopher's Stone," Harry said uneasily. "Snape was going to resurrect Voldemort. He must have wanted to use the Philosopher's Stone to restore his master's powers."

"Don't say that name." Ron looked panicked.

"Alright, then I'll call him Mysterious." Harry glanced at Maurice, and seeing that the other man's expression was normal, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Hermione didn't speak. As a Muggle wizard, she didn't feel particularly afraid of the name Voldemort.

"So what are you planning to do, Harry?" Morris asked.

"I don't know," Harry shook his head. "I was just about to ask for your advice, Maurice."

Seeking advice?

Morris blinked and immediately said, "Then why don't you just find a way to get your hands on the Philosopher's Stone? That way, Snape will have to leave empty-handed."

Harry sighed. "We don't know how to deal with that three-headed dog alone."

Ron and Hermione nodded silently.

"I'm sorry, I can't come up with a better idea," Maurice patted Harry on the shoulder, his expression firm. "But if you ever need my help, remember to let me know right away."

He didn't know when Harry would act, but if he missed it, his Philosopher's Stone would most likely be lost.

It's all up to you, Harry.

Come on!

Harry looked into Maurice's earnest eyes and felt a warmth in his heart. "Thank you, Maurice."

Morris smiled slightly, "We're friends, after all. Even if it means losing points, I'll still help you."

These words deeply moved Harry, and his unease subsided considerably.

Finally, June arrived as scheduled, and Hogwarts entered exam week.

The first-grade exams were so simple they were almost boring for Morris.

Except for the final sections on the history of magic and potions, Maurice felt he could get almost perfect scores.

He failed the History of Magic exam because he hadn't studied it properly, and as for Potions, he figured Snape must have mistakenly given him the fifth-year exam papers.

Although he could answer most of the questions above.

The day the exam ended was sunny and bright.

By the lake, Maurice, the Weasley twins, and Lee Jordan were together.

Fred and George were discussing the quick-fix truancy candy, and now that they could finally focus all their attention on it, they were both extremely excited, their mouths never stopping from beginning to end.

Lee Jordan was idly teasing a large squid in the shallow water.

Morris, on the other hand, was considering how much cumin he would need to add to make it into grilled squid to achieve the desired flavor.

At that moment, Harry came over and sat down next to him.

Harry pressed one hand to his forehead, his face turning pale.

"My forehead has been hurting for the past couple of days," he said anxiously to Maurice. "Do you have any pain-relieving potions?"

Morris raised an eyebrow slightly. "I don't carry all kinds of potions with me... but coincidentally, I happen to have some headache medicine."

As he spoke, he took a small bottle out of his pocket and handed it over.

Harry took the lid, opened it, hesitated for a moment, then, as if remembering something, asked, "To drink directly or use externally?"

"Just drink it," Morris replied.

Harry smiled sheepishly and immediately drank the potion.

As expected, Morris is the most reliable.

After taking the medicine, although Harry still felt a terrible headache, he suddenly found he could tolerate it, perhaps due to psychological factors.

Soon after, Hermione and Ron also came over.

Fred and George grabbed Ron and started stuffing something into his mouth with a laugh, while Hermione and Maurice discussed the exam that had just ended.

A leisurely scene.

Suddenly, Harry stood up, his face pale.

"I just remembered something!" he suddenly said to Hermione beside him. "We have to go find Hagrid."

"What's wrong?" Hermione asked immediately, stopping her discussion with Maurice and looking at him with concern.

Ron broke free from the twins' clutches, his mouth still smeared with some unknown powder, and stared at Harry as well.

"We'll talk about it on the way," Harry said gravely.

Seeing this, Maurice raised an eyebrow and said to Harry, "If you need my help, come find me right away."

He had a feeling that today might be a pivotal day.

Harry nodded emphatically.

The three immediately left the scene.
