Chapter 100 The Activity of Bones

Chapter 100 The Activity of Bones

"Be careful!" Hermione warned.

"It's alright," Morris said, already walking up to Norbert.

Norber shook his head, looked at the strange human in front of him, bared his teeth and barked, a few sparks flying from the corner of his mouth.

"Nober, be good to the guests," Hagrid said gently, then walked to the table, picked up a large kettle, and asked, "Does anyone want some tea?"

Harry raised his hand.

Hermione leaned close to Maurice and whispered, "Hagrid spoils Norbert too much. After Norbert bit Ron, Hagrid didn't even say a word of reprimand."

"I understand," Morris nodded.

After all, it's a fire dragon!

Fire Dragon!

He didn't know how much a baby fire dragon could sell for on the black market, but it certainly wouldn't be cheap.

I wonder if Hagrid will sell the dragon.

If we don't sell them... keeping dragons at Hogwarts is definitely not realistic.

That was undoubtedly illegal.

"Hagrid, where did you get this fire dragon?" Maurice asked curiously.

If possible, he would like to get one too.

Just then, Norbert burped, and a strong smell of brandy mixed with the pungent smell of sulfur hit him.

Morris frowned.

Such a young age, yet such a boastful tone.

Hmm, a dead fire dragon is better.

When Hagrid heard Maurice ask about Norbert, he immediately puffed out his chest and proudly said, "I won it playing cards with a complete stranger in a bar."

"Then you must be very good at cards."

"Not bad," Hagrid sighed. "Luck was on my side that day. The guy kept losing, and finally he bet on this egg—I bet he couldn't wait to get rid of this hot potato."

"Why would the other party want to get rid of the dragon's egg?" Morris asked, puzzled.

This is a live dragon egg, an extremely rare and valuable item.

Hagrid suddenly stammered, "That person...that person is being searched. Dragon eggs have always been contraband."

"What you're doing now is also illegal, Hagrid," Hermione sighed.

Morris could easily find the flaws in Hagrid's words.

Playing cards with strangers, betting dragon eggs? What's the difference between that and throwing Galleons into a lake?

Besides, who would want to get rid of a dragon egg?

Even Morris had several ways to deal with dragon eggs.

Even if there's no way to sell it and I don't need it myself, it's better to just make it into a fried egg than this.

He was certain that not many people in the world had ever tasted a dragon egg. Harry, holding his teacup, added, "We contacted Ron's brother, and he agreed to have someone pick up the dragon this weekend so Hagrid won't be punished or cause any trouble."

Morris nodded, feeling a little regretful at the same time.

He reached out his hand, tentatively approaching Norbert.

Just as his fingers were about to touch Norbert's head, Harry's urgent voice rang out: "Watch out!"

Almost simultaneously, Norbert reacted, turning his head sharply, opening his mouth full of teeth, and biting hard at Maurice's arm.

"Click!"

A sharp, teeth-grinding crack.

Norber's fangs didn't pierce the flesh; instead, they gnawed solidly at a hard, grayish-white object that had suddenly appeared.

It was a huge bone—Maurice had used the Bone Summoning Technique.

Norber let out a whimper, perhaps because he bit too hard.

Hagrid's eyes lit up when he saw Norber gnawing on a bone. "Oh! A nice chew toy! I've read in a book that baby dragons use hard objects to grind their teeth when they're young."

"That sounds like a dog's behavior," Hermione said.

Harry agreed.

For the rest of the time, Maurice kept trying to touch Norber.

If the other person makes a biting motion, a perfectly positioned bone will immediately appear in his mouth.

At first, Norber resisted, but after several attempts to bite the human, he finally gave up.

Morris looked at Norbert, who lay sprawled on the ground, utterly dejected, and smiled with satisfaction.

It's time to get down to business.

While Hagrid was rambling on about how adorable Norber's sleeping posture was, Maurice's fingers gently brushed against the back of Norber's neck.

Norbert suddenly felt a very slight stinging pain and let out a confused growl from his throat.

Hagrid immediately stood up. "Nober, what's wrong? Are you hungry? I'll get you some food right away."

He said that he opened the door and went out. When he came back, he had a bucket of clear liquid in his hand, which should be brandy.

Norber's attention was instantly drawn to the food, and he forgot about the slight sting.

What could be more important than eating rice?

It flapped its wings and waddled toward Hagrid, who smiled indulgently and scooped up some liquid with a huge wooden spoon, pouring it into a shallow dish.

Morris watched silently.

Hagrid may seem rough and tough, but he is incredibly gentle with animals.

"Drink slowly, little one, no one's going to take it from you," Hagrid said softly, holding Norber as if he were coaxing a child.

Maurice stood up. "I should go back now, Hagrid. Goodbye."

"Won't you have a cup of hot tea?" Hagrid urged. "I also have some biscuits."

"Thank you, but no need."

After leaving Hagrid's cabin, Maurice returned to his dormitory.

He took a bottle out of his pocket and placed it on the table.

The bottle contained a few drops of dark red liquid, which was the dragon blood he had collected from Norbert.

Yes, that's his goal.

Immediately afterwards, Maurice set up the cauldron and began brewing the potion.

As the material was added, the liquid slowly churned in the crucible, appearing as a turbid grayish-white color.

"Finally, add a tiny bit of dragon's blood..."

Morris carefully dripped Norbert's blood from the bottle into the pot.

After stirring three times, the murky grayish-white color became even darker.

Very good, it's done.

Then, he threw in a fragment of a fire dragon bone that he had found in the Forbidden Forest.

Oh, don't misunderstand.

This is not making bone broth.

He is trying to find a way to revitalize the dragon's bones.

After simmering for half an hour, Morris scooped out the bone fragment.

It looks subtly different from before.

The originally grayish-white and rough surface now appears off-white, and its texture has become smoother.

Morris held the bone fragment up to his eyes for a closer look, then laughed.

He succeeded!

He brought this bone fragment back to life!

Unfortunately, this level of activity is almost negligible.

This makes sense, though—after all, he only used a few drops of dragon blood, which he obtained from a newly born dragon.

If he can obtain enough adult fire dragon blood, he has a chance to fully restore the vitality of these ancient fire dragon bones.

well.

Morris stroked his chin.

How can he obtain more adult fire dragon blood?
