Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar
Chapter 274! Look! His chapter is here!
As Azu returned to his bedroom in the shelter, the first rays of dawn illuminated the thick haze.
Harley let out a lazy moan from the large bed, rubbing her messy hair as she sat up. The blanket slipped off, revealing a glimpse of her skin, but she didn't seem to care.
She yawned, her gaze somewhat unfocused as she searched for the blond man's figure until her eyes settled on the window.
"Good morning, Mr. Candy..."
Just as I was about to get out of bed, my gaze suddenly fell on the cloak behind Ah Zu.
She tilted her head and looked her up and down.
"Wow, what's this new look? I didn't see you wearing this yesterday."
Harley knelt on the bed and reached out to tug at the red cape.
"Red? Are you sure you want to wear this out? If Batman saw you dressed like this, he would instinctively draw his gun."
"Those poor souls who've just been rescued might think that blue scout has crawled back from hell to collect taxes. Haha!"
Harley giggled and teased.
Azu was somewhat taken aback; Harley's words reminded him that he had indeed overlooked this point.
People all over the world are currently suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder regarding the "Red Cloak." He can't afford to have his hard-earned savior image negatively associated with the color of his cloak. That could potentially affect his efficiency in gaining popularity.
Azu immediately invoked the system in his mind.
"Spend 500 special popularity points to restore the cape's appearance to its original Stars and Stripes style."
[Command confirmed, appearance modification complete.]
To Harley's astonishment, the surface of the red cape rippled like water. In just a few seconds, the familiar Stars and Stripes pattern reappeared.
"Wow!" Harley's eyes lit up. "This feature is so cool! Can you make one for my jacket too?"
"It's just a little trick." Ah Zu pinched her cheek and smiled slightly. "Stop dawdling and get up. We're getting ready to go to the Metropolis."
"Go to the Metropolis? To what?" Harley plopped back down on the bed, her face full of reluctance.
"It's so comfortable here, with hot water and champagne. Why don't we go soak in that big bathtub again?"
"I can take a bath anytime, but I should go to work in the Federation now," Azu said with a smile.
Harley blinked, seemingly not quite understanding.
"Go to work? Wait, what about that Human Federation you were talking about with the clown yesterday... you're not serious, are you?"
"So you've...conquered the world?"
She spread her hands out exaggeratedly.
"I thought all those things you said at the Kent farm were just to fool that clown bastard!"
"Liar?" Azu laughed and gently pinched Harley's chin.
"I've always been a very sincere person. I not only established the Federation of Humanity, but I also meant it when I said I was going to make movies. I've even thought of a title for the first one: Homelander: Rise of the Wasteland."
"I've always had a dream," Azu said emotionally, "I want to make a series of movies featuring Homelander as the main character, so that people all over the world can see my story and know who is protecting them."
"That's a brilliant idea!" Harley was taken aback at first, but then immediately raised her hand. "I want to be the director! I want to fill the movie with explosions and dismemberments! And sexy thighs too!"
"It's a deal." Azu held up his little finger. "Anyone who goes back on their word is a pig."
Harley giggled and hooked her pinky finger on it, stamping it with her finger.
"Alright, now go take a shower and get dressed up nicely," Azu said casually. "Make yourself smell nice, get ready to be your First Lady of the Federation."
The air suddenly went silent for a second.
Harley's smile froze on her face.
"The First...Lady?"
She stared at Ah Zu in astonishment, thinking she had misheard.
In this cruel, insane, and betrayal-filled world, no one had ever said such a thing to her before.
The Joker treated her like a toy he could discard at any time, while Batman saw her as a mental patient who had to be locked up in Arkham.
And now, this man standing at the top of the world, on the first day of ruling the world, tells her that she will be the First Lady.
For the first time, Harley felt an uncontrollable tremor in her heart.
She suppressed the turmoil of excitement churning within her, digging her nails into her palms as she reminded herself.
"Don't be silly, Harley. He was just joking. How could he let a mentally ill lunatic like you, a notorious criminal, become some damn First Lady?"
Harley quickly reverted to her carefree demeanor.
"Oh ho! First Lady? Does that mean I can keep hyenas on the White House lawn? And paint the Oval Office pink!"
As she spoke, she reached for Ah Zu's belt.
"However, before taking a shower, the First Lady felt that the President should first perform his morning duties."
Without saying a word, she pushed Azu down onto the bed and pounced on her like a hungry little leopard.
……
Two hours later, the two men, dressed neatly, walked out of the shelter.
Azu took Harley and soared into the sky, heading straight for the Metropolis.
At this point, Metropolis, under Bruce Wayne's terrifying organizational and execution capabilities, had already presented a well-ordered appearance.
The Parademons' corpses on the streets were burned in a concentrated manner, and the resistance fighters were reorganized into a temporary security force to patrol the streets.
Heavy machinery is clearing debris blocking the main roads. Temporary medical stations and food distribution points are being set up in various neighborhoods.
When Azuna’s iconic Stars and Stripes cape appeared in the sky, the entire square fell into a brief silence.
Immediately following was a deafening cheer.
Homelander!!
"Look! He's back!!"
People dropped what they were doing and poured into the streets from all directions. They waved their arms and, with tears in their eyes, called out the name of the person who had saved them.
Azu held Harley's hand as they walked through the automatically parted passage of the crowd.
He wore a warm smile, nodding to the crowds on both sides from time to time, and would even stop to pat the heads of the dirty children.
Harley walked beside Azu, and looking at the fervent gazes around them, she shrank back uncomfortably.
She was used to being feared and hated, and this feeling of being worshipped as a hero made her, the Gotham crime queen, feel unreal.
"Keep smiling, little pumpkin," Azu whispered to her. "They love me, so they'll love you too."
The Lexcorp building has now been cleared out and the Federation of Humanities has temporarily raised its flag, serving as the Federation's temporary office location.
Azu led Harley into the building.
The moment he stepped into the lobby, Azu activated his super vision at full power, instantly penetrating every floor, wall, and underground vault of the building.
He scanned the area carefully, searching for that distinctive green light.
However, there was nothing there.
There were no lead-cast secret compartments, no hidden safes, and not even a speck of kryptonite powder the size of a fingernail.
