Chapter 237 The Flower of the Gods
"Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light?" The raccoon's eyes practically lit up with excitement. "That's a cool name!"
"I am Groot!" Groot echoed in agreement.
"It's the Guardians of the Galaxy!!" Quill corrected exasperatedly. "Why can't you remember any of your names?!"
At Captain America's command, everyone's morale soared, and they roared as they launched a counterattack against the energy beast!
"For the Fatherland!!"
A young hero from the city of Vought activated his explosive power and charged headlong into the monster horde, attempting to halt their advance by self-destructing.
"Don't do anything foolish, child!"
A figure clad in silver armor descended from the sky, grabbed the young man, and threw him back behind.
It's Thor.
He was now clad in armor, and in his hand was no longer the large wrench, but a black battle axe that gleamed with a cold light.
Battle Axe - Iron Bear.
That was the weapon he used when he was young, before he wielded Mjolnir, during his conquest of the Nine Realms.
Although it lacks the divine power to summon thunder like Thor's hammer, this axe is incredibly sharp and has severed the heads of countless giants.
"Leave the charge to the strongest Avenger!"
Thor laughed loudly and swung his battle axe down in a wide arc.
"Pfft—!"
A massive energy monster was cleaved in two, splashing blue energy liquid everywhere.
"For Midgard! For Jane!"
With Thor's roar.
Behind him, the light of a rainbow bridge faded away.
A silver giant, over three meters tall and forged entirely from the divine steel of the Uru Divine Realm, strode out with heavy steps.
Destroyer Armor.
This is the ultimate weapon in Odin's treasury. Although it is no longer under Odin's control and its power is greatly reduced, it is still a terrifying killing machine.
"Sizzle—!!"
The Destroyer's entire body glowed with golden energy, and a beam of orange-yellow destructive light swept across the battlefield from its head.
The monsters in a large area were cleared away in an instant.
"That's... Thor?" Steve got up from the ground, looking at the figure who had displayed such power, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"Wow..." Tony Stark, who was providing air support, stared wide-eyed at the sight. "What's that tin can?"
"What kind of metal is this? How is this energy output structure achieved?"
"This is the Destroyer of Asgard." A familiar voice rang out behind Tony.
"A few years ago, it appeared in a small town in New Mexico and almost razed the place to the ground."
Tony turned around and saw a man in a purple combat suit nocking a bow and aiming, the bowstring twanging as each arrow precisely blasted the head off a monster.
"Clint?" Tony asked, somewhat surprised. "Didn't you retire? Are you off driving your tractor now?"
"That's how it was." Clint Barton shrugged and fired another explosive arrow.
"But I saw on TV that the Earth is going to end again. I think my farm might not be spared either."
"Oh, by the way..." He glanced at Tony. "I heard you disbanded the Avengers?"
"Haha... I wasn't thinking straight back then," Tony explained somewhat awkwardly.
"It's alright." Barton smiled. "Anyway, I'm not an Avenger anymore. I've now proclaimed myself the Guardian of Barton Ranch."
Tony looked at his old comrade-in-arms, and a smile crept onto his lips.
"Welcome back, farm guardian."
"Then let's go all out again."
"Jarvis! Fire all the Rattlesnake missiles! Clear a path for our archers!"
With the addition of this new force, the previously precarious defense line was finally stabilized.
"Advance!! Push the front line back!!"
Steve seized the opportunity and gave the order loudly.
Everyone went crazy.
Whether it's a superhero, an ordinary agent, or even a regular soldier with a gun.
Everyone was injured, and everyone was exhausted.
But they disregarded their own lives and injuries.
They had only one thought in their minds—
Attack! Attack! We must be worthy of his sacrifice!
……
at last.
They fought their way to the edge of the huge, deep pit.
However, the scene before them shocked everyone.
It was no longer a seed, but had grown into a giant flower made of blue energy crystals.
It is rooted deep in the earth, with countless roots spreading in all directions, and its petals open like a greedy mouth.
With each wriggling motion, hundreds of newborn energy beasts would spew out from the flower's stamen.
"Destroy it!!"
Tony yelled and unleashed a full-power burst from his chest-mounted cluster cannon.
However, the cluster bombardment on that flower of the gods only stirred up ripples, without causing any damage.
"Let me give it a try!"
Thor raised his Iron Bear Battle Axe, leaped high into the air, and brought it down with a powerful chop.
"Whoosh—!!"
The indestructible battle axe struck the flower stem and pierced right through it.
It was as if there was no force at all.
Yet the Flower of the Gods still stands on the earth, without a trace where the battle axe had struck.
"What the hell is this thing?!" Thor stared in shock at the perfectly intact root.
"This thing is producing an army indefinitely. If we don't destroy it, we'll be worn down!" Steve frowned as he looked at the ever-growing number of monsters around him.
"Then let's use explosives!" Rocket, refusing to believe in such things, pulled out the battery he had stolen from Sovelin and prepared to handcraft a high-explosive bomb.
At this moment, Peter Quill, who had been silent all along, reached out and stopped the rocket.
He gazed at the celestial flowers that emitted familiar fluctuations.
That was the aura connected to his bloodline.
That was... light.
"Quill? What do you want to do? Get away from me!" Gamora shouted nervously.
Quill didn't turn around. He reached out, took the Walkman from his waist, and carefully placed it on a rock.
Then, he gave Gamora a smile that was both roguish and somewhat relieved.
"That old bastard said I'm the only one in the universe who has inherited his power."
He said this power belongs to us.
Quill looked at his hands, where a faint blue light was faintly emanating.
"Since this thing is also part of him..."
"Then I think... I might be qualified to take over it."
"Peter!" Gamora called out worriedly.
"Trust me." Quill glanced back at her, a confident smile on his face.
"This is the legacy that 'bastard dad' left me, isn't it?"
"Since it's an inheritance... then I'll accept it without hesitation!!"
The next moment, he pressed his hand down hard.
Just like Igor once used him as a battery.
But now the situation has reversed, and he has become the one who benefits.
"Buzz—!!"
The enormous flower of the gods suddenly trembled violently.
The blue energy that was originally gushing outwards suddenly reversed direction!
It surged wildly into his body along Quill's arm.
His eyes were stained black, and it seemed as if starlight was flowing within them.
"Aaaaaah!!"
Quill roared to the sky, his body began to glow, and blue divine power surged through his veins.
The Flower of the Gods, however, withered visibly.
As the last bit of energy was absorbed into the body.
The Flower of the Gods was completely reduced to ashes and scattered by the wind.
Those monsters that lost their energy source also collapsed and disintegrated.
"call……"
