Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar

Chapter 233 You're Lying

"Anthony!" Jessica exclaimed in surprise.

"pay close attention!"

Azu put his arm around Jessica's waist.

"boom--!"

Full propulsion.

The two transformed into a beam of light and broke free from the planet's gravitational pull.

The hatch opened, and the air pressure was equalized.

Jessica slumped into her seat, still shaken, gasping for breath. Her holographic spacesuit automatically retracted, revealing her face covered in cold sweat.

Ah Zu stood in front of her, looking down at her.

"Jessica Jones." He said, his voice barely containing his anger.

"Did I tell you to stay on the spaceship?"

"Who do you think you are? Kara Danvers?"

"Do you know how dangerous that was? That thick fog was Igor's digestive enzymes! If I had arrived a second later, you would have been turned into a pile of protein!"

"If you die..." Azu bent down, grabbed Jessica's shoulders with both hands, and lifted her up from her seat.

"...Have you considered how I feel?"

Jessica looked into Azu's angry eyes and suddenly laughed.

She reached out and stroked Azu's cheek.

"I know it's suicide... but it's the only impulse I can't control, Anthony."

Azu paused for a moment, the anger in his eyes gradually subsided, replaced by a complex sense of helplessness.

He sighed and gently pulled Jessica into his arms.

"You stupid woman..." he whispered in her ear. "Don't do it again."

If you fucking die, do you know how much popularity I'll lose...? Ah Zu added in his mind.

"Hmm..." Jessica closed her eyes, savoring this moment of tenderness. "I understand, boss."

Hint! You've gained a special popularity bonus of +15000! (From Jessica Jones)

"Hey! I said! Can you guys please stop this damn romance drama for a second?!"

An angry voice shattered the idyllic atmosphere.

Rocket Raccoon poked his head out of the cockpit, looking utterly devastated.

"I know you Earthlings don't discriminate when you're in heat! But could you at least look out the window first?!"

"We're doomed!!"

Azu released Jessica, stood up, walked to the cockpit, and looked out the porthole.

At this point, Ego Star had completely changed.

The enormous human face was no longer static.

Its mouth was opened to its limit, like the entrance to a black hole.

At the center of that abyss-like maw, endless blue energy was frantically gathering.

The intensity of that energy distorted the surrounding space, dimming the starlight.

"That's..." Drax's eyes widened. "Is he eating?"

"Eat my ass!" Rocket yelled irritably. "He's going to unleash a verbal attack! That's a planetary-level energy cannon!"

"He's going to blow us up! This whole star system!" Gamora yelled. "Rocket! Jump! Get out of here!"

"I want to too!" Rocket was so anxious he scratched his head.

"But this damn space has been disrupted by that energy! The jump engine can't lock onto the anchor point! We're locked in!"

"What about conventional power?" Yondu asked.

"Don't be ridiculous, Blue-skinned Daddy!" Rocket pointed outside. "With just the thrusters, we wouldn't get out of his range in a hundred years! And that thing has already locked onto us!"

"The moment he fires, we're all fucking space dust!"

Utter despair enveloped the spaceship.

Faced with such a planetary-scale devastation, the power of an individual seems so insignificant.

Can't escape.

We can't beat them.

They could only watch helplessly as the enormous blue sphere grew brighter and brighter, awaiting their inevitable death.

Drax sighed: "At least, we died together."

Baby Groot hugged Rocket's leg: "I'm Groot..."

Nebula leaned against the wall, closed her eyes, and seemed to have accepted her fate.

Quill mustered his courage to kiss Gamora, only to be kneed in the stomach by her.

Even viewers on Earth felt a profound sense of powerlessness as they watched the giant maw charging on the screen.

It’s over.

This time it's really over.

No matter how strong the people of our motherland are, can they withstand this blow?

Amidst this gloomy and desolate atmosphere.

"Ha ha ha ha!"

A burst of hearty laughter suddenly broke the silence.

Everyone turned around in astonishment.

Ah Zu stood with his hands on his hips, laughing so hard he was doubled over.

"Are you crazy?" Rocket looked at him like he was a lunatic. "We're going to die! What's so funny?"

"I laugh at your lack of imagination."

Ah Zu stopped laughing and shook his head.

"Who says you have to use a spaceship to get home?"

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, he slowly raised his right hand.

A gold double-hole ring was worn on his index and middle fingers.

That was the ring given to him by the Ancient One.

"Watch."

Azu's expression turned solemn, and he drew an elegant arc in the air with his left hand.

"Earth."

He silently recited it in his heart.

"Sizzle—"

A burst of orange sparks erupted in the air.

Immediately afterwards, the sparks spun and expanded rapidly.

A circular portal, more than two meters in diameter, appeared out of thin air inside the spaceship's command center.

Through that portal.

Everyone could clearly see the scene on the other side.

Bright lights and modern equipment—that's the strategic command center of VGD headquarters.

"What...what kind of technology is this?!"

Rocket Raccoon's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. It jumped off the chair, approached the portal, and tentatively reached out a paw to touch it.

"Spatial folding? Wormhole travel? No equipment needed? Just draw a circle with your hand?!"

"This is not scientific! This completely violates the laws of physics!"

"This is magic, little raccoon," Azu explained.

"We're saved..." Everyone breathed a long sigh of relief.

"It's you again, Homelander!" Yondu laughed, patting Azu on the shoulder. "You're a real surprise! I knew you had a trump card up your sleeve!"

"Hey, cape guy! That was a cool move!" Drax rushed over, wanting to give Azu a bear hug, but Azu dodged him in disgust.

"I must say, you're much more reliable than someone else," Gamora chimed in.

"Alright, stop flattering me, let's go." Azu chuckled and urged them on. "Just help me promote myself in the universe and give me more followers."

"No problem! I'll spread your name in every bar!" Yondu laughed and was the first to step through the portal.

Everyone burst into laughter, and the atmosphere instantly became relaxed.

Yondu, Quill, Gamora, Nebula, Drax, Mantis, and Rocket carrying Groot all passed through the portal one after another.

When they stepped onto the floor of VGD headquarters, the sense of security they felt was like stepping into another world.

"Jessica, it's your turn." Azu turned to look at Jessica.

But Jessica remained standing there, holding the camera, without moving.

"Jessica?" Azu frowned. "What are you doing? Hurry up and go in. The portal won't last long."

"Aren't you leaving?" Jessica asked.

"I have to maintain the portal." Azu remained in the same circling pose.

"I'll go over after you've all gone."

"You're lying," Jessica said firmly.
