Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar

Chapter 189 He's Waiting for You

Northern Ontario, Canada, wilderness.

The howling wind and snow tore apart this coniferous forest that had been forgotten by the world.

The cold wind, carrying ice crystals, scraped across the exposed skin of my face like blades.

Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. team trudged through the deep snow, their steps uneven.

Behind him followed May, Ward, and Fitz and Simmons, who were bundled up like two penguins.

Skye walked last, wearing a knitted hat, her hands in her pockets, looking reluctant.

"This is it."

Coulson stopped in his tracks.

Mei stood beside him, warily scanning the surrounding woods.

Apart from the wind, snow, and withered trees, there was nothing here. No shelter, no buildings, not even a trace of human activity.

"Sir, are you sure this is the place?" Fitz asked, exhaling puffs of white breath. "This looks like a place even bears wouldn't want to hibernate in."

Skye pulled her thick down jacket tighter, rolled her eyes, and kicked a frozen rock at her feet with her boots.

"so what?"

"You disobeyed Commander Rumlow's direct orders and led us halfway around the world just to bring us here for a snow treasure hunt?"

She spread her hands and spun around in place.

"Where's the treasure, Coulson? Or has Chief Fury learned to become invisible and is hiding behind some tree watching us freeze to death?"

Coulson ignored her taunts. He took a few steps forward and even reached out to feel the air in front of him, trying to find some kind of optical camouflage switch.

There was nothing there.

There was only a biting cold wind.

"There must be something here..." Coulson muttered to himself. "He wouldn't send out these coordinates for no reason."

"Coulson, let's face it," Skye said coldly. "There's no Fury at all. Maybe it's just an automated ghost signal, like those distress signals from sunken ships. He might be dead already, or like the news says, he's already packed his bags and run away."

"Shut up, Skye."

"No, I won't shut up." Skye was starting to lose control. She thought of that towering figure. "Look at what's happening outside! Homelander is saving the world, and what are we doing? Looking for a conman in this damn forest!"

"Where is Chief Fury?! Tell me where he is?!"

Coulson turned around abruptly, his face flushed.

"I don't know! I don't know, Skye!!"

His roar drowned out the wind, leaving everyone stunned.

"But I know these coordinates must be meaningful!"

"There must be something here..."

His voice lowered, as if he were trying to convince himself.

"Fury needs us... Hydra needs us to deal with them... Once we find him, we can definitely take back S.H.I.E.L.D..."

The sound faded, leaving only the sound of the wind.

No one answered him. Mei looked at him silently, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.

Coulson looked at his teammates who had risked their lives for him and suddenly felt a deep sense of powerlessness.

Perhaps Skye is right.

Perhaps this was just the last prank of a crazy old man.

There was a moment of silence.

Coulson's hand fell to his side.

He glanced at the S.H.I.E.L.D. badge in his hand, which had been with him for many years. The eagle shield emblem on it, once his faith, now seemed like a joke.

He gritted his teeth and suddenly exerted force on his wrist. The badge traced an arc in the air and flew towards the bushes.

"Crack—Sizzle—"

Suddenly, the sound of machinery operating came from beneath the snow-covered ground.

A black automatic close-in weapon system quickly broke through the snow.

"Bang!"

Flames shot out from the muzzle of the gun.

The badge in mid-air was instantly shattered, and fragments flew everywhere.

"Lie down!!"

Mei shouted and immediately tackled Coulson to the ground in the snow.

The group then sought cover to take refuge.

"Sizzle—"

The machine gun did not continue firing.

The dark muzzle of the gun spun left and right, as if searching for a target.

Coulson lay on the ground, watching the turret rotate from side to side. His previously despairing eyes suddenly lit up.

He immediately stood up and walked towards the gun barrel.

"Coulson! Are you crazy?!" Ward yelled from behind the tree. "It'll riddle you with bullets!"

"No, it's waiting for someone."

Coulson kept walking until the cannon barrel was fixed on his forehead.

"State your identity."

A cold, mechanical synthesized voice came from the base of the machine gun.

Phil Coulson.

"A Level 7 Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."

silence.

A suffocating three-second silence.

"drop--"

"Identity confirmed. We're waiting for you, Agent Coulson."

As the mechanical sound subsided, the machine gun slowly retracted into the ground.

Followed by.

"Boom!"

The earth began to tremble.

The rock wall in front slowly moved aside, sliding to both sides to reveal a brightly lit passage inside.

A warm current flowed out from inside, slightly dispelling the chill from everyone's bodies.

Several people filed in.

The interior is brightly lit, with a clean corridor, and even a faint aroma of coffee in the air.

"Where is this place?" Skye asked curiously.

"This is one of Director Fury's secret bases." A middle-aged man in a black suit, with a rather plump build, walked out from a room on one side.

"I call this place 'Heaven's Will.' But to be precise, it doesn't have a name."

"Because strictly speaking, it doesn't exist."

"Um..." Skye couldn't help but ask, "Since this base 'doesn't exist,' did you use money from 'existing' sources to build it?"

"Well……"

The middle-aged man's smile froze for a moment, and his eyes darted around.

"Well... you know, S.H.I.E.L.D. has some budgets that are... uh, flexible."

"Alright, let's not talk about finances." The middle-aged man abruptly changed the subject. "I'm Eric Koenig, a Level 6 Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm in charge of this base... well, you could say everything."

"Welcome! Chief Fury is waiting for you inside. Everyone, follow me."

Mentioning Fury immediately made everyone's expressions serious.

"This way, please."

Eric stopped in front of a huge black double door, entered the password, and underwent an iris scan.

"drop."

The green light comes on.

The gate slowly opened inwards.

"Go inside, he's waiting for you."

Coulson took the lead and strode inside.

"Chief Fury, this is Cole..."

His voice abruptly stopped.

Not only him, but also May, Ward, Skye and others who followed him in were all stunned at the door.

The room was very large, and only the center of the room was visible.

There was a chair on the table, and a Black man was sitting in the chair.

Nick Fury.

He was handcuffed behind his back and tied to a chair.

That iconic black leather trench coat, but now it was tattered and covered in blood.

His face was injured, and his eyes were closed, making him appear to be unconscious.

Behind Fury stood a man.
