Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar

Chapter 111 The Sky Has Collapsed

Anger finally broke through the dam of reason.

Fury abruptly drew his pistol from his waist and pointed it at the huge display screen.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Three gunshots rang out.

The large screen shattered instantly, sparks flying everywhere.

"He has a gun!!"

"He's attacking the command center!!"

"Splash—!"

In the entire hall, all the agents, whether they were Hydra agents or loyal S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, drew their sidearms in an instant.

Hundreds of dark gun barrels were locked onto Nick Fury and Clint Barton.

Patton's bow was fully drawn, but he dared not let go. If he released this arrow, they would be riddled with bullets.

"Put down your weapons, Nick!"

Hill drew her pistol and pointed it at Fury's chest. Her hand was steady, but her eyes trembled.

"Accept the internal investigation! That's the only way out!"

Fury looked at Hill, and at the men around him who had once obeyed him without question.

He saw it.

Trust has collapsed.

In this age of information manipulation, the truth is no longer important. What matters is what people are willing to believe.

"To be investigated?" Fury chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Once I'm in the interrogation room, I'm never coming out again, Hill. You know that."

He slowly raised his hands, making a gesture of surrender.

"Okay...you win."

The agents breathed a slight sigh of relief; the guns were still pointed at him, but their fingers had slightly moved away from the triggers.

In that very instant.

"Barton! Flash!" Fury growled.

Without any hesitation, Patton pulled a special arrow from his quiver and slammed it hard onto the floor beneath his feet.

"boom--!!!"

A blinding white light instantly filled the entire command hall, and everyone instinctively closed their eyes, letting out screams.

"Ah! My eyes!"

"Fire! Fire!"

"Bang bang bang bang—!"

Gunfire erupted, bullets flying wildly in blind firing.

Amidst this chaos...

Fury grabbed Barton, pulled out a miniature explosive grenade, and stuck it to the reinforced glass next to him.

"Get down!"

"Boom!"

The glass shattered.

A strong wind rushed in.

This is the thirtieth floor.

"Jump!"

Without hesitation, Fury and Barton leaped off the building.

"call out--!"

In mid-air, Patton fired a grappling hook arrow, which pinned to the lower outer wall. The two of them slammed through the lower window like swings and rolled into the office area.

"Let's go! To garage B4! My spare car is there!"

The two ran frantically down the corridor, followed by the piercing sound of alarms and the relentless footsteps of pursuers.

Once the king of spies, now a stray dog.

……

"What a beautiful piece of music."

Alexander Pierce stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the vehicles fleeing wildly outside and listening to the distant sirens, a blissful smile on his face.

He turned around and looked at "Brock Rumlow" standing behind him.

"Well done, son. Your plan is absolutely brilliant."

Pierce walked up to "Rumlow" and patted him on the hard shoulder.

"Do the opposite. Use their words to throw the dirty water back at Fury."

"I always thought you were only good at fighting and killing, but I never expected you to have such expertise in tactical psychology."

"For Hydra's victory, sir."

A smug, roguish smile immediately appeared on Rumlow's face. The data model for the smile was derived from Rumlow's life.

"That's right, for Hydra's victory." Pierce was in high spirits. "Once Project Insight is complete, you will get everything you deserve, and I will nominate you as the next director."

Rumlow bowed slightly: "It's an honor."

Pierce put down his glass and glanced at his watch.

"The board members' authorization codes have arrived."

"Although Fury, that rat, got away, that doesn't matter anymore."

Decades of infiltration.

The culmination of generations of hard work.

Finally, it's time to blossom and bear fruit.

"Long live Hydra!"

Pierce whispered something, then ordered the control center to take off.

"Attention all units."

"I am Alexander Pierce."

"I hereby announce... Project Insight, officially launched."

"Let the aircraft carrier...take off."

……

The river surged, and the earth trembled.

"Rumble, rumble—"

Three enormous sky carriers, powered by Stark Technologies' anti-gravity engines, tore through the water and slowly rose into the air.

Water cascaded down the deck like a waterfall.

The roar of engines echoed throughout Washington, D.C.

This is the pinnacle of human industrial development, but also the sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of all mankind.

Once they are in suborbital space at 3,000 feet and linked with the Insight satellite.

They can instantly lock onto and eliminate any target on Earth that is identified as a "threat".

Thin-skinned target.

……

"gentlemen."

Azu heard the special encrypted channel of Skynet.

"The fire control systems of three aircraft carriers have been successfully compromised."

"The Zola algorithm has been overridden. The new target selection logic has been uploaded."

"Now, the triggers on these three ships are in your hands."

"Rumlow did a good job," Azu said with satisfaction. "Next time he gets his car serviced, make sure to use plenty of good quality oil... hahaha."

……

"OMG! They've taken off!"

Fury sat in the passenger seat, staring at the overwhelming shadow, his face ashen.

"What do we do now, boss? Should I shoot them down with explosive arrows?"

Hawkeye Patton, driving the car, jerked the steering wheel to dodge a rocket fired by a pursuer.

Fury stared intently at the three giant ships and pulled out his old-fashioned pager.

That was his last trump card—Captain Marvel.

But his hands were trembling, and Carroll made it clear that the pager should only be used in the most critical moments.

This crisis refers to one originating from outside the universe. Carol's primary responsibility is to maintain cosmic peace, and she will not concern herself with such internal conflicts on Earth.

"Damn it..." Fury put away his pager, a hint of despair flashing in his eyes.

……

Washington, D.C., the Tri-Wing Building.

Pierce looked up at the sky from the floor-to-ceiling window.

He was waiting.

Waiting for the beautiful sound of gunfire, waiting for those names to disappear one by one into the smoke of battle.

One minute.

Two minutes.

five minutes.

Quiet.

Calm and undisturbed.

"What happened?"

Pierce frowned, completely baffled. After checking again, he confirmed that the launch command had indeed been issued.

Just then, the office phone rang.

It's the Security Council's dedicated line.

Pierce answered the phone somewhat uneasily; it was Director Rockwell.

His tone was unusually calm, even somewhat indifferent.

"Given the recent internal turmoil within S.H.I.E.L.D., and the signs of serious infiltration by Hydra."

"After emergency consultations in the Security Council and with the consent of the representatives of the permanent members."

"We have unanimously decided to invoke the 'emergency takeover clause' in the Superhero Registration Act."

"From this moment forward, the three carriers of 'Project Insight' and all their associated weapon systems..."

"...temporarily transferred to Vought Global Defense (VGD) for management."

"Until S.H.I.E.L.D. completes a full internal purge and investigation."

boom--!

The sky has fallen!
