Chapter 130 Life Rays

The next morning.

Brooklyn, New York.

A black sedan sped past on the street.

In this day and age, New York's traffic is much better than in the 21st century; it's not congested at all.

On the wide street, many children were playing and frolicking.

Inside the car.

Rogers and Peggy, dressed in military uniforms, sat in the back, while Roy, in a black suit, sat in the passenger seat.

After the car drove into a block from the main road, Rogers pointed to an alley ahead and said, "I know this block well. I was beaten up in that alley."

"And the parking lot in front, and the alley behind the restaurant."

Peggy turned her gaze away from Roy, glanced at Rogers, and asked, "Then why didn't you run away?"

Just like in the movie, Peggy wasn't initially very optimistic about Rogers.

However, after seeing Rogers' tenacity, resourcefulness, and courage during training, she changed her opinion of him.

However, despite her changed opinion, she did not develop any romantic feelings for Rogers.

One reason is that Rogers is still a small man who is physically weak and plagued by illness.

On the other hand, it's because of Roy's presence.

Roy's looks and physique were very much to Peggy's liking.

What's more, he's a superhuman with exceptional skills in picking up girls.

Take last night as an example.

Peggy had no intention of letting Roy stay in her room overnight.

But under Roy's sweet talk, she not only changed her mind, but also became very enthusiastic and proactive.

Peggy's tastes so smooth!

Recalling Peggy's performance last night, Roy smiled with satisfaction.

Upon hearing Peggy's question, Rogers quickly replied, "If you run away once, you'll always choose to run away in the future."

"If we stand up and fight back, we will have a chance to win one day."

Peggy sighed and said slowly, "I kind of feel the same way as you; I used to be rejected all the time too."

"I don't understand why you want to join the army?"

"What I mean is, you are a beautiful lady—no—a beautiful female agent—you are beautiful—"

Looking at Peggy's fair and delicate face, Rogers unconsciously became nervous and began to stammer.

Peggy smiled slightly and asked, "You don't know how to talk to women, do you?"

Rogers smiled wryly, "Aside from my mother, this is the longest conversation I've ever had with a woman."

"They don't want to talk to short men, nor do they want to dance with a man who might step on their feet."

""

After saying that, Rogers lowered his head, feeling somewhat bitter.

"You must have danced before, right?" Peggy asked.

"I don't dare invite women to dance. I've gotten used to it over the years, so I think I'll just wait and see," Rogers replied.

"Waiting for what?" Peggy continued to ask.

"Waiting for a suitable dance partner," Rogers said with a sigh.

Roy did not join their conversation.

He is currently thinking about something very important.

That is, whether or not to rescue Dr. Erskine from the Hydra agents.

After some not-so-rigorous thinking, he made a decision.

Don't save them!

Although Dr. Erskine was not a bad person, according to the normal timeline, today would be the last day of Dr. Erskine's life.

Furthermore, after rescuing Dr. Erskine, with Rogers as a successful example, the authorities will definitely force him to mass-produce the serum.

Roy had no good feelings towards the U.S. government and didn't want to see the U.S. have tens of thousands of super soldiers.

A few minutes later.

The car stopped in front of an unremarkable antique shop.

Several cars were parked on the street in front of the gate.

"What are we doing here?"

After getting out of the car, Rogers asked Peggy.

"Come with me."

After saying that, Peggy went into the antique shop first.

Roy and Rogers followed her into the antique shop.

As soon as we entered the antique shop, a white-haired woman dressed in casual clothes came out and said, "Isn't the weather lovely today?"

"Yes, but I always carry an umbrella," Peggy replied.

Upon hearing Peggy's reply, the white-haired woman went to the counter and pressed the button below it.

Roy and his two companions went into the inner room and came to a bookshelf.

Under their watchful eyes, the base gate, disguised as a bookshelf, swiftly opened, revealing a corridor leading into the base.

Roy and his group walked down the corridor to the laboratory.

There were more than a dozen staff members wearing white coats in the laboratory.

Dr. Erskine was among them.

When they arrived at the laboratory, it suddenly fell silent.

All eyes, including Dr. Erskine's, were on Rogers.

Peggy led Rogers to Dr. Erskine.

"Good morning." Dr. Erskine extended his right hand to Rogers.

Rogers didn't speak, and Dr. Erskine immediately shook his hand.

Just then, a soldier nearby raised his camera and pressed the shutter.

The dazzling flash of the camera disappeared in a flash!

"Please, don't take pictures," Dr. Erskine said quickly, turning to the soldier taking photos.

Rogers' gaze fell on the special equipment beside him, and a puzzled expression appeared on his face.

He had no idea what the device was, but Roy knew it perfectly well.

This is the life ray device that Howard built himself.

After the serum is injected, the life rays emitted by the device allow the serum to completely penetrate the human body, enabling Rogers to "evolve" in a short period of time and become an undisputed super soldier.

"Are you ready?" Dr. Erskine asked Rogers.

Rogers nodded.

"Take off your shirt and shoes, and remove your hat," Dr. Erskine said, pointing to Rogers' shirt and hat.

Without any hesitation, Rogers immediately took off his hat and handed it to a staff member standing nearby.

Seeing Rogers begin to undress, Peggy turned her head and looked at Roy beside her.

Soon, Rogers was left with only his pants on.

At the staff's suggestion, he lay down on the machine and unconsciously swallowed.

Dr. Erskine came to his side and asked, "How are you feeling?"

"It's a bit big!" Rogers replied.

Dr. Erskine smiled.

"Did you leave me any of that bottle of wine from last night?" Rogers asked.

"Sorry, I didn't leave much. Maybe next time," Dr. Erskine replied.

Immediately afterwards, he loudly questioned Howard.

"Mr. Stark, how's the baseline?"

"100%!" Howard's voice rang out immediately.

"Very good." Dr. Erskine turned to the staff beside him, signaling them to stabilize Rogers' body and prepare for the injection.

"We might use up half of Brooklyn's electricity, but we're prepared, just like in previous tests."

Howard said, sizing up the slender Rogers.

"Mr. Roy, Agent Carter, it would be better if you stayed in the observation room to watch," Dr. Erskine said to Roy and Peggy.

"OK!"

Roy and Peggy turned and walked toward the observation room upstairs.

"Do you think the experiment will be successful today?" Peggy asked Roy in a low voice.

"Yes," Roy replied.

Peggy turned to look at Rogers lying on the machine, then continued toward the observation room.

The observation room is now filled with many people.

In addition to Colonel Philip, there were also a number of official representatives, including Senator Brant.

Among them was Craig Kremson, who appeared to be an official but was actually a Hydra agent.

After Roy and Peggy arrived at the observation room, Senator Brant and Craig's beams of light immediately fell on Roy.

Like Colonel Philip, they were also unaware of Roy's background, only knowing that the president had suddenly appointed him as an overseer to oversee the affairs of the Strategic Scientific Corps and to report only to the president.

As Senator Brant and Craig sized up Roy, Roy was also sizing them up.

Although he knew Craig was a Hydra agent, Roy did not immediately expose him.
