Wizard: Starts with Advanced Meditation

"call……"

At the same time, not far from Hughes, a cloud of gathering black mist was surging toward him.

The moment he got close, the black mist materialized into two pitch-black ghost hands, which reached out to grab him.

Upon closer inspection, the ghostly hands were glowing with a faint red light, indicating that they were about to unleash Bevik's mark.

Although the black fog is silent, the changes in the concentration of elements in the surrounding area cannot lie.

Even though his mental energy couldn't probe through, Hughes could still sense the rapid change in the elemental concentration behind him.

And so, just as that ghostly hand was about to grab his neck...

"Buzz—!"

In an instant, a dazzling silver light burst forth from Hughes's body.

The black mist seemed to be affected by the silver light as well, and even the ghostly hands paused for a moment.

At the same time, Hughes' figure suddenly flashed and disappeared from the spot.

"Huh? Teleportation?!"

Upon seeing this, a man's voice rang out from the black mist.

"Damn it, when did he place this teleportation point? I didn't sense any spatial energy fluctuations at all!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the black mist suddenly dissipated, revealing a figure dressed in plain black clothes.

On the back of his right glove, there were four interlocking black rings embroidered.

"Damn it, I was careless."

As he spoke, the assassin with the black crown waved his hands, beginning to dispel the surrounding black mist.

But at that moment...

"Buzz—"

In an instant, a silver dot of light quietly appeared.

"Whoosh... Boom—!!!!"

Immediately afterwards, a powerful burst of spatial energy erupted, condensing into a sharp, beam-shaped impact that blasted straight toward the opposite side.

"Bang—!!"

The black-ringed assassin was caught off guard and took the full force of the shattering impact, his body flying backward instantly.

"puff--"

Instantly, a cloud of blood mist exploded from his body, the impact shattering his protective gear and blasting a gruesome bloody hole in his abdomen.

At the same time, Hughes reappeared, having been teleported back again via the gap anchor.

"call out--!"

Taking advantage of his opponent's severe injury, he immediately activated his levitation technique, and his figure flashed, rushing towards his opponent at lightning speed.

But at this moment, the Black Ring Assassin opposite had already recovered. His wounds were healing rapidly, even faster than if he had drunk a blood-replenishing potion.

Hughes, who arrived just in time, witnessed this scene and immediately changed his strategy.

He dispelled the chill that had enveloped his hands and suddenly clenched his fingers.

The next moment, two blurry, translucent blades instantly appeared in his palm.

This is the knowledge system taught by Dylan's Spire, which allows him to freely manipulate the attribute energy of his own faction, just like an elemental wizard.

That is, spatial energy.

(The Dylan Spire is the one from "The Three Laws of Refining Spatial Power," mentioned in Chapter 589.)

Without hesitation, Hughes raised his arms and threw out the two spatial blades in his hands.

"Whoosh! Whoosh!"

These blades, constructed from highly concentrated spatial energy, can not only easily cut through magical implements, but also leave a layer of chaotic spatial energy attached to the wound.

Due to this energy interference, healing methods such as blood tonics are difficult to penetrate the wound, preventing it from healing.

At the same time, the Black Ring Assassin on the other side also sensed the danger posed by the Twin Blades.

"Huuuuuu..."

The next moment, a large amount of black mist erupted from his body, transforming into a shadow behemoth that charged straight toward the spatial blade in front of him.

"puff--"

But at the moment of impact, the two spatial blades pierced through its sturdy shadow body.

"Sizzle—"

In an instant, the Shadow Beast was cut into three pieces.

In the blink of an eye, the three halves of the black shadow solidified into three solid black bullets.

"Whoosh! Whoosh whoosh!!"

The black bullets shot out one by one, two of which collided with the nearest spatial blade.

"Bang bang"

The black bullet shattered instantly, but it also deflected the spatial blade by a few inches, barely grazing the assassin's cheek.

The other one shot directly at Hughes in the distance.

"Buzz—"

But at the very moment the two collided, Hughes suddenly vanished from his spot in a flash.

"Buzz—"

Without any warning, he had already appeared behind the Black Ring Assassin.

"Not again! When did this happen?!"

The assassin was shocked. He tried to turn and escape, but it was too late.

Hughes simply raised his hand and waved it lightly, and the surrounding spatial energy instantly gathered in his palm.

"Whoosh!!"

A translucent blade slashed through the air, instantly cutting through the assassin's chest and leaving a deep, narrow wound that revealed the bone.

"Sizzle—!"

Immediately afterwards, Hughes made another gesture behind him.

"Buzzing..."

The two blades that had been thrown out suddenly turned back and fell back into his palm.

Immediately, he gripped the double blades tightly, exerted force with both arms, and slashed downwards.

"Whoosh—!"

"ah!!!"

The assassin let out a piercing scream as both his arms were severed by the double blades, and blood gushed out instantly.

This time, both the severed arm and the wound on his chest have been interfered with by spatial energy, temporarily losing the possibility of self-healing...

"Who are you?"

As he spoke, Hughes raised his hand and created a slowing space, trapping the other person in mid-air.

At the same time, he took out a ring from his storage bag and injected a wisp of spiritual energy into it.

"Sizzle..."

Instantly, the ring-shaped object released a force field.

This is the restraint device that the Golden Ring later invented, which can prevent members of the Black Ring Crown from destroying their souls.

"Hehehe...why don't you just take off my mask and you'll see?"

Upon hearing this, the black-ringed assassin gave a mocking smile.

Hughes frowned, then waved his hand and removed the other person's mask from a distance.

The next moment, his pupils suddenly contracted.

"this?"

Beneath the mask was a completely black face devoid of any features.

This face is not concealed by dark elements, but is entirely composed of dark elements!

"Elemental life forms?"

A look of surprise flashed across Hughes' face, then he realized something, his eyes suddenly narrowed, and his mental energy rapidly gathered, about to condense into a spike.

However, it was too late. The assassin's body went limp in an instant and turned into a cloud of black mist, forcibly breaking free of the sluggish space and fleeing into the distance.

That wasn't a shadow of black mist, but pure dark elements.

At the same time, the blood he had just sprayed in the air turned into specks of dark particles, which drifted away with the black mist.

"..."

Hughes hovered silently in place, his face grim as he watched the black mist disappear into the distance.

Although he escaped the assassination attempt by the Black Ring, the fact that the other party was able to infiltrate the academy and set up a spatial trap shocked him greatly.

"Even the Vaulted Tower isn't safe anymore...?"

Hughes muttered to himself.

"That's true. I remember a few years ago... they stormed into the city of Irene and assassinated the heir of the Soyawacaren family."
