Chapter 111 Wind Field Suppression
The frost breath and the dense sorcery collided, but the expected explosion did not occur.
The dense spells were instantly submerged in the icy blue torrent upon contact with the cold air, and the flames dimmed rapidly within it.
Only Busley's raging torrent of flames was still struggling to hold on, but in no time, the originally violent energy visibly weakened and extinguished, eventually condensing into fine ice shards that scattered on the ground.
"What!" everyone exclaimed.
Harogen was the most shocked of all. He and the other third-class apprentices had fought against the Dragonborn Frostskin Dwarves. Although they were strong enough to fight multiple enemies at once, they certainly did not possess such powerful ice elemental magic.
The chill did not stop; it continued to spread toward the apprentices, instantly freezing a thick layer of white frost onto the ground, making the air seem as if it were about to crack from the cold.
Seeing the icy blue breath surging towards them like a tide, the other apprentices immediately mobilized the last of their magic power, hastily conjuring up defensive spells in front of them in an attempt to build a barrier to block the deadly cold current.
Only Busley's eyes still burned with resentment. He gritted his teeth, disregarding the severe depletion of his magic power, and released his magic once more. The fire element around him once again gathered wildly, condensing into a fireball in his palm that was even more intense than before.
Busley roared and hurled the fireball he had condensed. The blazing fireball trailed a long, fiery tail in the air, carrying a scorching heatwave as it hurtled towards the icy blue breath.
Perhaps the previous bombardment had exhausted the magic of Frost Breath to its limit, or perhaps Busley had specially compressed a large amount of fire element into this fireball, making it far more powerful than an ordinary fireball.
The fireball actually pierced through the icy blue breath barrier and exploded right in front of Barik.
"Bang—"
The fireball suddenly exploded, and the violent heat wave contained within surged out instantly, sweeping out with a scorching airflow that instantly dispersed the surrounding cold air, even causing the air to sizzle.
Barik's profile was swept by the aftershocks of the fireball, leaving several charred marks and a few small scales falling off.
Clearly, the previous barrage of attacks had already depleted most of his magic power with his freezing breath, leaving him unable to defend against Busley's blazing fireball.
At the same time, the remaining frost breath swept in like a tide, transforming into a wide fan-shaped ice curtain that enveloped all the apprentices.
The protective shields hastily erected by the apprentices collided violently with the icy breath. In an instant, fine cracks spread across the various colored surfaces of the shields, and the cracking sounds intensified, as if they were about to completely collapse at any moment.
Fortunately, they survived the attack without serious injury. They noticed what had just happened and began to concentrate their magical power, such as flaming spears, and shoot them at Barik.
Faced with the renewed attack, Barik did not use his previous frost breath. Instead, a chilling aura began to emanate from between the scales on his body, and a layer of white frost quickly climbed up his body.
In a short while, a set of heavy ice crystal armor, gleaming with a chilling light, had solidified on his body. The fire arrows gathered by the crowd struck the heavy armor one after another, producing soft popping sounds.
But the heavy armor was surprisingly sturdy, only a few shallow craters were blasted out, and a few pieces of ice slid down Barik's thigh.
Seeing that the group's attacks were not very effective, Busley decided to condense another compressed fireball. But just as he mobilized the surrounding fire elements, a freezing ray "whooshed" through the air and headed straight for his heart.
Busley dodged sharply to the side, the freezing ray whistling past his left arm, the biting cold sending a shiver down his spine.
But his apprentice behind him was not so lucky. The ray pierced his heart precisely, and white frost spread rapidly from his wound in an instant, covering his entire body in the blink of an eye, freezing him into an ice sculpture.
Busley looked down at his left arm. Even though his whole body was covered in flames, the icy ray still left a large patch of purplish-blue frostbite where it had swept across.
Strangely, the chill seemed to penetrate his skin. Even when he tried his best to activate the flames, not a single flame could rise at the wound site, and the surrounding flames could not cover it, as if there was an invisible ice wall blocking the wound.
On the other side, Barik keenly detected two powerful magical fluctuations in the distance and instantly realized that the group of apprentices in front of him were just stalling for time.
So he stopped lingering and charged into the crowd, his heavy ice crystal armor gleaming. With a wave of his hand, several thick, freezing rays shot out.
The apprentices around them hurriedly used their magical tools to defend themselves, but before the rays could dissipate, Barik's giant claws had already silently descended, crushing them and their shimmering magical tools into pieces.
Barik's massive claws lashed out wildly through the crowd, his icy blue nails gleaming with a chilling light. His nails were the deadliest blades, easily slicing through the fragile flesh of his enemies like pieces of paper.
Faced with the formidable Barik, the apprentices' resistance was futile. Some barely managed to dodge his chilling, deadly claws before being pierced through the body by Barik's freezing rays.
Some managed to dodge the rays, but they couldn't escape his sudden burst of frost breath, instantly freezing them into ice sculptures and shattering them into ice crystals scattered on the ground.
Busley maneuvered his flames nimbly through the chaotic battlefield, narrowly avoiding the onslaught of freezing rays and deadly claws, doing his best to keep his distance from Barryk.
Looking at the apprentices falling one by one around him, he was extremely anxious. The two third-class wizard apprentices were still preparing their spells, but the dragonborn dwarves in front of him were already unstoppable, and the shadow of total annihilation had already loomed over them.
The second-class apprentices were already at their last gasp, and one by one they were mercilessly harvested by Barrick. As the flames around Busley suddenly died out, the last second-class wizard apprentice also perished.
Barik didn't linger and went straight for the two third-class wizard apprentices. They were positioned very cunningly, having controlled their distance from Barik based on their previous observations, ensuring that they could just dodge his frost breath and freezing rays.
Harrogan and Rock were just waiting for Barik to approach. Barik had only taken a few steps when a violent hurricane suddenly swirled around Harrogan, the howling air force tearing apart the ice wall behind him.
Barik sensed something was wrong and was about to turn around and retreat when a gust of wind suddenly pressed down on him, like a solid cage locking him firmly in place.
Seeing that Barik was trapped, Harrogan's surrounding air surged upwards. The next second, a spiraling column of air, brimming with violent power, hurtled down towards Barik.
Barik was already pressed down by the wind, and when he saw the wind pillar coming, he hurriedly concentrated his ice element on the armor on his back, trying to fight the spiraling wind pillar head-on.
