Chapter 102 Siege of the Stronghold

Frosty Dwarves surged out of the stronghold like a tide, their heavy leather boots stepping on the dwarf corpses that had just been at the entrance, stirring up large amounts of blood.

The two teams drew closer and closer until they were fifty meters apart—the shortest range of level zero ranged magic.

The moment their eyes met, the air froze. The next second, the magic within the apprentices erupted like boiling magma, and various colored lights of different spells suddenly shone brightly.

Fireballs roared in, trailing red flames; ice arrows whistled out, radiating bone-chilling cold; wind blades wove together in mid-air into a constantly shrill blue net. Various spells were unleashed at each other almost simultaneously, and both sides' territories exploded with various colors of light.

Harrogan's eyes narrowed, and the wind element in his hand surged, transforming into a massive barrier in front of him. Various spells slammed into the wind barrier, creating a dense barrage of explosions, but they still couldn't tear a hole in it.

He pulled out an ice-blue staff, chanting an obscure incantation. The next moment, the spherical gem at the top of the staff burst out with ice-blue light, and three spindle-shaped ice crystals appeared in front of him and shot out.

The surface of the spindle-shaped ice crystal was covered with blue runes, carrying a little bit of cyan wind element as it stabbed towards the frost-skinned dwarf opposite.

"Hiss—"

The two frost-skinned dwarves at the front were unfortunately hit, the spindle-shaped ice crystals easily piercing their hard armor. As the tips of the ice crystals sank into their flesh, blue runes suddenly lit up at the wounds, instantly freezing their blood.

The last spindle-shaped ice crystal shot towards the Frostwolf-headed dwarf, who, standing at the front, swung his ice hammer and smashed it forward, actually shattering the spindle-shaped ice crystal into pieces.

The two exchanged a glance, their meaning clear. The dwarf with the Frostwolf headgear roared first, his left hand clenching tightly, and a thick ice shield materialized out of thin air, its surface covered with crisscrossing ice crystals.

He held the ice shield in front of him and charged toward Harrogan with unstoppable momentum. Several fireballs thrown at him along the way exploded on his shield, but only broke through a few ice crystals on the surface.

He quickly rushed to Harrogan's side and slammed the ice hammer down hard. With a loud "clang," the wind screen trembled violently, but managed to withstand the blow.

"Stop them!" Harrogan shouted in a deep voice, his wind shield suddenly transforming into several wind ropes that wrapped around the frost-skinned dwarf in front of him, while he dodged several incoming ice arrows.

The windwrap coiled around the frost-skinned dwarf before him like a venomous snake. Before he could break free, Harrogan swung his wrist sharply to the right. The windwrap tightened instantly, pulling the tall, muscular dwarf to the right with tremendous force.

Two third-class wizard apprentices clashed on the right, while the apprentices following behind immediately joined the attack at Harrogan's command.

An apprentice, mimicking Harrogan, shot out two thinner wind cables, then yanked them back sharply. The cables nimbly wrapped around the ankles of two frost-skinned dwarves, pulling them to the ground.

The other apprentice, in perfect unison, raised his hand and released two fire snakes. The fire snakes precisely coiled around the two fallen frost-skinned dwarves, the scorching flames licking their frost-covered skin and emitting a burnt smell.

But the Frosty Dwarf wasn't just sending one third-class wizard apprentice. Several streams of viscous purple acid shot towards the two apprentices from before. The apprentice, skilled in earth magic, quickly pressed his hands to the ground, and a thick stone wall rose up to block their way.

"Hissing and sizzling—"

The acid slammed into the stone wall, instantly corroding it into a honeycomb-like pattern of holes. White smoke mixed with gravel fell in a flurry, and the air was filled with a pungent, putrid stench. Although the stone wall was corroded and became uneven, it ultimately protected its companions behind it.

But then, "Sizzle—Aaaaaah!!"

A large fan-shaped spray of venom spread down, corroding the remaining stone wall. The venom's momentum did not diminish, and it eventually enveloped one of the apprentices who had not had time to retreat.

The purple venom was splashed on his body, instantly corroding black holes. Even the witchcraft tools on his body were corroded and hissed. His panicked cries for help were swallowed by the venom, and his figure disappeared into the white mist rising from the venom.

Seeing their companion swallowed by the venom and vanish without a trace, the companion trembled with fear, and even the apprentices behind them were stunned, lest they be the next to be corrupted.

A short, frost-skinned dwarf appeared silently before the group, a finger bone necklace around his neck swaying gently with his breathing, the bones still bearing dark purple stains.

The deadly fan-shaped venom was released by him; he was another third-class plague apprentice at the outpost—Drun Tucker.

Delang's turbid eyes scanned the apprentice before him as if he were sizing up prey to be slaughtered, a chilling smile hidden at the corner of his mouth. He slowly brought his withered hands together, and thick, dark purple venom quickly condensed into a ball in his palms.

The venom ball churned violently in his palm, and just as it was about to transform into a fan-shaped poison curtain and splash out again, a blazing orange-red ray shot out from behind everyone, carrying a heat wave straight toward Delong's head.

De Lang's pupils contracted sharply. In his shock and anger, he didn't think twice and abruptly held the ball of venom in his hand in front of him.

"Sizzle—"

The scorching ray slammed into the venom mass, instantly bursting into blinding white smoke. The venom was evaporated by the high temperature, emitting a pungent stench. The ray's momentum did not diminish, grazing Delon's left ear and shooting backward.

Delang was thrown back half a step by the heat wave, and the venom ball in his palm, which had mostly dissolved, splashed onto his body.

However, the horrific scene of flesh being corroded by the venom that was expected did not occur. The purple venom slowly slid down Delon's body, dripping onto the ground and corroding charred holes.

However, it failed to harm his skin in the slightest—his skin had already been stained purple by the toxins and he had an extremely strong immunity to poisons.

He looked ahead angrily, only to see an apprentice in a magnificent robe walking arrogantly from behind—it was Rock, the third-class apprentice, who had been secretly casting spells from behind.

"Dirty barbarian." Rock looked Delon up and down, his face full of disdain.

Delong understood Common Tongue and clenched his fists at his sides in anger, the veins under his purple skin bulging slightly.

He didn't speak, but stared intently at Rock with his cold eyes. Then, countless streams of venom surged around him, completely obscuring his surroundings.

The viscous liquid churned and condensed wildly, instantly transforming into a giant python, its dark green eyes flashing with the same chilling killing intent as Delang's.

The giant purple python suddenly opened its blood-red maw, hissing and flicking its tongue as it prepared to attack Rock. Rock knew he couldn't let the aftermath of the battle affect the forces behind him, so he turned and ran towards the battlefield on the left.

Delong understood his meaning and turned the giant python to charge to the left, leaving the battle in the middle to a group of second-class wizard apprentices.
