Chapter 611: The Layout?
Chapter 611: The Layout?
After passing through several crowded streets, Jing Chen and his companion circled Yancheng about twice before finally arriving at the city center, where the Mo family was located.
"Jing Chen, are you really going to go all out?" For some reason, the system, which had been silent for a long time, suddenly popped up, which surprised Jing Chen.
However, Jing Chen remained silent, took a deep breath, and replied softly, "What's wrong? Why are you suddenly concerned about me? Is there some kind of conspiracy?"
"Get lost! I'm just reminding you that in your current state, you can't go all out. You should know that the number of internal injuries you have is the most you've ever sustained." The system said slowly.
Upon hearing this, Jing Chen simply smiled and said, "It's just a hidden injury, it won't suddenly kill me. Besides, you wouldn't just stand by and watch me die, would you? Oh, by the way, you didn't take that pill back, did you?"
"No! I wouldn't do something so pointless. You need to understand, you have no way out now. You're not the kind of person who can come back from the dead. If you really die this time, then you..." The system trailed off. Jing Chen vaguely sensed that what the system omitted wasn't what he thought, and might even be hiding some kind of truth.
"Really? But I won't die so easily. I will definitely live to the end!" Jing Chen just smiled lightly, and he secretly kept a "record" of the system's words in his mind.
After communicating with the system, Jing Chen finally looked up at the Mo family's heavily guarded fortress, which resembled a small fortress, and shook his head helplessly. Seeing this, he had to admit that the Mo family truly lived up to its reputation as the most powerful family in the eastern province of the Jia Ma Empire. Just from this heavily fortified fortress, it was clear that the Mo family had invested a tremendous amount of resources in its construction.
On those towering walls, mobile patrol posts were set up every few dozen meters, and in the gaps, there were arrows that gleamed coldly in the sunlight.
As his soul power merely swept across the top of the fortress, Jing Chen sensed at least a dozen seamless lines of vision blocking the sky above it. Without a doubt, anyone attempting to enter from the air would be instantly riddled with countless arrows hidden in the shadows.
"Tsk tsk tsk, looking at this defensive strength, it seems unlikely that we can sneak in quietly." Hai Bodong clicked his tongue in surprise as he glanced at the sky above the fortress.
"It is indeed a bit troublesome." Jing Chen nodded slightly. He didn't know if it was because it was Mo Cheng's birthday today, but the defenses seemed to have increased several times over. Under such precautions, it would be almost impossible to sneak in quietly.
"Should I go and get a couple of invitations?" Hai Bodong frowned. "With our attire, people will immediately know we're up to no good. They probably won't let us in easily until they fully understand who we are."
However, Jing Chen simply smiled and shook his head, his gaze lingering for a moment on the lively crowd celebrating at the entrance of the Mo family, before shifting his attention to a secluded path. He then whispered to Hai Bodong behind him, "Come with me."
The two walked along a narrow path, eventually circling half of the Mo family's perimeter before stopping at a relatively quiet spot. Because this area was quite remote, there was very little foot traffic. While there were guards on the fortress walls, the defenses here were much weaker compared to other areas.
Standing under the shade of a tree, Jing Chen looked up and quietly watched the guards taking turns patrolling the fortress walls. After a moment, he suddenly pushed off with his feet, his figure turning into a black shadow. With a wave of his hand, blue flames burst from his fingertips, accurately striking the guards who were passing by on patrol.
In a pure white space, a bewitching woman with a pair of fox ears on her head and nine snow-white fox tails behind her, dressed in a pure white long dress, reclines on a sofa, her left hand lazily supporting her exquisite, even alluring, face. Not far from this woman, there is a life-size mirror, reflecting Jing Chen's actions just moments before.
Behind the fox-eared woman, a woman in a white robe, holding a long sword in her arms, stood quietly, her gaze also fixed on the scene reflected in the mirror.
"Isn't this the Great Sword Immortal Jing? What brings you here?" The fox-eared woman didn't even turn her head, her gaze still fixed on the mirror, but she spoke to the woman behind her.
The woman in white narrowed her eyes slightly, asking with a hint of confusion, "Is it really appropriate to give him the Immortal Execution Sword at this time?"
"What's wrong? Can't bear to part with her?" The fox-eared woman turned her head slightly, looking at the white-robed woman behind her.
"Jingxuan! I want you to know that this is our last chance!" The woman in white seemed quite angry at the fox-eared woman she called Jingxuan.
"I know, but didn't I already give him the Nine-Tailed Fox's bloodline? Although this little guy has never used it. Alright, Jingmeng, I understand. If we want to deal with that guy, we can only rely on him. By the way, what about that little phoenix?" Jingxuan sat up, smiling somewhat apologetically.
"I don't know, they're probably hiding somewhere watching secretly." Jing Meng shrugged, walked to Jing Xuan's side, and placed the long sword she was holding next to the sofa.
Jingxuan picked up the longsword leaning against the sofa, held it horizontally in front of her, gripped the hilt, and suddenly drew it out. As the blade was exposed in the air, the space around it trembled slightly, as if the space itself would collapse in the next second.
He nodded slightly in satisfaction, then returned the sword to its sheath, turned to look at Jing Meng, and said softly, "Not bad, after all this time, 'White Emperor' is still so powerful."
"Alright, enough with the flattery. His current growth rate is simply not fast enough." Giving Jingxuan a sidelong glance, Jing Meng turned her gaze back to the mirror and said softly, "At his current growth rate, he'll probably be discovered before he fully matures. And then, we'll truly have no chance."
Upon hearing this, Jingxuan fell completely silent. After a long while, she slowly said, "However, there are many things we cannot rush. Otherwise, we will end up like that little phoenix, which was slapped to death before it even grew up."
Jing Meng narrowed her eyes slightly, staring at Jing Xuan, and asked, "Jing Xuan, what kind of scheme are you in?"
Jingxuan gently placed the longsword aside, then turned to look at Jingmeng and said, "I've already told you what I want. You, including myself, are all working for this purpose, all serving him. Do you understand?"
