Chapter 297 Reconciliation ②

At the end of the corridor on the first floor of the dormitory area, there are two rooms. The door to the last room is still sealed off, but the room in front of it originally also had a seal, but someone tore it off. In this corridor, you can faintly hear the sounds of boys and girls searching for their future.

In this room where the seal had been torn off, the future was right there. Future sat on the floor with her back against the window; the door was blocked by several suitcases, a chair, and a mop.

Future sat on the ground, hugging her legs, still angry, and said, "What? Everyone has completely made up. I'm not going out."

Future glanced around the room. This sealed-off room wasn't much different from their usual room. There was a one-legged shelf with a completely withered flower on it. Three dolls sat on the bed to Future's right, but the bed was messy, clearly indicating someone had stayed in the room. On the desk were two books, a pen holder containing three pens, another pen on the table, a teacup, and a picture frame.

When Wei Lai walked up to the table and saw the photo frame, she was immediately surprised. Picking it up, she saw ten people in the picture—five men and five women. The men were standing in the back, and the women in the front. The background was their dormitory!

Upon closer inspection, the more I looked, the more horrifying it became. There's no doubt that these people in the photos once lived here. But why they're no longer here remains a mystery.

"Could it be..." Future stared at the photo in horror, her mind still replaying everything she had just seen. The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became. Upon closer inspection, she saw a boy and a girl in the photo wearing the same clothes as them, including the style and medals!

Since they are the original inhabitants of this place, where did they go? And recalling what Zero Two said earlier…

The picture frame hit the ground, and a crack immediately appeared in the glass of the frame.

……

The door to the room was kicked open from the outside. The person who kicked it was still holding their foot. The first thing everyone saw was Mirai, sitting on the floor with her head in her hands, leaning against the bed on the right side of the room. Seeing Mirai's condition, Shin rushed over and called out to her.

Zero has a keen eye for observation. Upon entering the room, besides Mirai, he noticed the picture frame lying on the floor, its glass shattered. Picking it up, Zero immediately understood why Mirai was in this state. Looking around the room again, Zero understood.

"This room..."

"Isn't this the room that the Thirteenth Unit used to use?"

Zero Two's voice suddenly rang out, and Man slightly turned his head to see Zero Two leaning against the corridor wall. Hearing Zero Two's voice, the others also turned to look at Zero Two.

"The old ones?" I asked, puzzled.

"The Thirteenth Squad..." Yuu-no seemed to have also noticed something.

"That's right, there must have been a force protecting this city before we were called here," Goro recalled.

Looking at Goro, she asked, "Then, why isn't it there now?" Seeing Goro and Ikuno staring at her, she looked at Ichigo and Kokoro in the room and asked, "Why?"

After a moment of silence, Zero Two, still with his head down, said, "They're all wiped out, aren't they?"

Hearing the words "total annihilation," Ikuno and Ichigo were startled. Ikuno's expression also became less natural.

Ichigo said, "They probably couldn't come back, right?"

Mirai sobbed softly. After hearing Ichigo's words, Mirai clutched her heart tightly, trying her best to suppress her emotions. Goro frowned, looking at the photo frame in Rei's hand, as did Rei.

"If we can't get to know each other better, we won't survive. Everyone, let's make up," Goro said.

……

In the living room, Rei, Goro, Tai, and Mitsuru stood behind Hitoshi, waiting for him to apologize to Mirai. Hitoshi, his face slightly flushed, said, "Um, I'm sorry, I was wrong." He stopped mid-sentence and bowed deeply to express his remorse. "I won't look at you strangely anymore."

Future kept her head down. After listening to Miku's words, Future straightened up slightly, but still kept her head down as she said, "You definitely can't do it, right?"

After a moment of stunned silence, Mirai continued, "It's all because Mirai is too cute!"

"Huh?" He was stunned.

Future raised her head, turned it away haughtily, and said, "So, I'll forgive you for a little bit."

Seeing the future's arrogant demeanor, Miku was slightly stunned, then came to her senses and said, "I see."

Seeing the two reconcile, Zero and his three companions were quite happy. The other boys also apologized to their partners. Everyone had their own way of apologizing, but the ending was good; everyone made up because of this incident. Zero stood to the side, watching his friends reconcile, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Jing Chen reappeared at this moment, one arm draped over Ling's shoulder, the other hand taking the lollipop out of his mouth. Looking at the scene of reconciliation, he asked Ling, "How does it feel? Your companions seem to have made up."

"Yes, I'm very happy," Zero nodded and said.

……

Their first mission after reconciling arrived. All ten of them went to the standby pod, ready to board their mechs. Just as Zero reached the Crane Bird cockpit, he heard Mirai and Hitoshi starting to argue again, so he stopped and glanced over. The reason for their argument was simple: Mirai felt that Hitoshi was looking at her strangely again.

Zero-Two reached out a hand as he walked to the cockpit door. Zero snapped out of his daze and looked at Zero-Two. Zero-Two's combat suit had been changed from its original red to white.

Zero smiled, then quickly changed his expression and said seriously, "Zero Two, I hope that in the future we can tell each other our thoughts."

"Hmm? Why?" Zero Two pondered for a moment, then tilted his head and asked.

"Because I want to understand Zero Two better!" Zero said.

Zero just smiled and Zero grabbed Zero's hand, saying, "Darling, you have to hold on tight to me."

……

Above the night sky

Jing Chen and the mysterious man stood side by side. Jing Chen had a lollipop in his mouth and looked up at the starry sky. The mysterious man glanced at the sky, then looked at Jing Chen and asked, "What do you think of this incident?"

Jing Chen smiled, took out the candy, and said, "I think this incident was pretty good. Everyone has grown, including Zero. At least now, those kids care about their partners' thoughts. Looking to the future, this is a very good start."
