Chapter 237 The Winner

Jing Chen glanced around; it seemed the survival game was nearing its end. He jumped down from the tree branch and had just reached the temple when Zhi Shu rushed over in a panic. Seeing Jing Chen, Zhi Shu quickly ran behind him, grabbing his sleeve and saying, "Jing Chen, save me!"

Jing Chen looked at Zhi Shu, who was extremely frightened, and was still completely confused. Chu Yuan slowly walked up from below and said incoherently, "Zhi Shu, if there's no one else, I'll win, right?"

Zhi Shu, hiding behind Jing Chen, said in a panic, "Are you really that eager to win? What are you going to do with ten million?"

"Well... well..." Chu Yuan said as he walked, then suddenly stopped and said with extreme embarrassment, "No, it's too shameful to say! Xiao Zhi is such a pervert."

Jing Chen watched the two of them flirting and teasing each other, wondering if he was being a bit of a spoilsport by standing there. Just as he thought this, Chu Yuan suddenly fired a shot.

Zhishu was startled and quickly hid behind Jingchen. Jingchen frowned and was about to catch the bullet with his bare hands when he suddenly saw several pure white feathers floating in the sky. Then, Icarus suddenly appeared in front of Jingchen.

When Icarus landed, he was facing Chu Yuan, and the bullet undoubtedly hit Icarus in the forehead.

"Icarus!" Icarus fell straight down. Jing Chen quickly squatted down, picked up Icarus, and checked Icarus's forehead.

Zhishu and Chuyuan stared in shock at the fallen Icarus. Neither of them had expected that Icarus would appear at this critical moment and block Chuyuan's bullet.

"Yes, Master."

Suddenly, Icarus opened his eyes and looked at Jing Chen as he answered.

Jing Chen brushed Icarus's hair away from her forehead and placed the band-aid that Zhi Shu handed her on the spot where Icarus had just been hit.

"Seriously, how did your body grow up like this... It made me worry for ages," Tomoki said.

Chu Yuan was still frozen in the action of firing the gun, his body trembling. Shou Xing walked over, took the pistol from Chu Yuan's hand, and Chu Yuan suddenly collapsed to the ground.

"Speaking of which, what about Nymph?" Mikako asked.

"That guy probably got bored while waiting and went back first," Tomoki said.

Seeing Icarus's silence, Jing Chen naturally knew what they had been talking about and said, "That's right, with Nymph's personality, she probably thinks this kind of activity is boring. Let's go back first."

"Speaking of which, who exactly is the winner?" Shouxing asked.

"Oh right, ten million." Tomoki suddenly realized.

Shouxing said, "It seems that only Zhishu and Jianyue are left, oh, and Jingchen too."

"Really?" Tomoki asked in surprise.

Mikako smiled and said, "No, there's also him."

Mikako pointed towards the stairs, and everyone's gaze turned towards them. Suddenly, a large flock of pigeons flew out from below the stairs, and a figure slowly walked up. Upon closer inspection, wasn't that the owner of the shooting range?

"Let me have some fun, young man," said the shooting range owner.

Next, in a long corridor of the temple, Chu Yuan and Zhi Shu faced off against the shooting range owner. The atmosphere was tense, with tension about to escalate. Facing the shooting range owner, Chu Yuan clearly showed signs of backing down, his whole body trembling. Zhi Shu, on the other hand, cautiously observed the shooting range owner.

The shooting range owner, a cigarette dangling from his lips, watched the two with a smile. The scene was strikingly similar to the cowboy-style duels Jing Chen had witnessed in his original world.

The atmosphere was quite tense. The night wind rustled the leaves on both sides of the tree, making a "shush-shush" sound, and also blowing the clothes of the three of them.

The shooting range owner's eyes were incredibly determined, as if he was certain of victory. Ash, on the other hand, felt immense pressure; facing such a formidable opponent, he was uncertain of his own chances.

Suddenly, a flock of pigeons seemed to be startled by something and flew away together. Xiao Zhi took the initiative, drawing his gun and aiming it at the shooting range owner, who in turn held his gun with both hands, aiming at Chu Yuan and Zhi Shu. Both sides fired simultaneously; the outcome was finally about to be decided!

After a burst of gunfire, Chu Yuan and Zhi Shu were each shot and fell to the ground. The shooting range owner, however, remained standing in place; clearly, Zhi Shu's bullet had not hit him.

Having defeated Zhishu and Chuyuan, the shooting range owner turned his attention to Jing Chen and asked, "Young man, why don't you let me have a go too?"

Jing Chen smiled and walked into the corridor. Zhi Shu and Chu Yuan had already left the corridor and were standing to the side, covering their foreheads, watching Jing Chen's duel with the shooting shop owner.

"Where's your gun?" the shooting range owner asked.

Jing Chen flicked his right hand, and the Starry Sky appeared in his palm. Zhi Shu, Chu Yuan, Shou Xing, and Mikako were all shocked. They knew that the gun in Jing Chen's hand was real! Was Jing Chen going to use this gun?

In front of them, Jing Chen removed the magazine, loaded all the cork bullets he had just collected into it, and chambered a round. The entire sequence of movements was fluid and seamless, as if he had practiced it tens of thousands of times!

"Nice gun," said the man at the shooting range.

Jing Chen said, "You should let me have my fill too."

As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere froze again, and Jing Chen and the shooting shop uncle looked at each other cautiously.

Through the previous competition, Jing Chen was certain that the shooting range owner's design skills were far beyond what Zhi Shu and his friends could match; he was at least at the military level. Coupled with the shooting range owner's accuracy, Jing Chen had no confidence in defeating him while firing simultaneously. Therefore, there was only one way to win!

As the night breeze picked up, the leaves rustled softly in the wind once more.

The shooting range owner knew that Jing Chen was no ordinary person. From the moment Jing Chen came up, his smooth and effortless reloading process, and the aura he exuded, were definitely not something an average person could match.

Jing Chen is a formidable opponent!

A voice like that echoed in his mind. However, since Jing Chen was a formidable opponent, it also ignited the shooting range owner's passion. He always rose to the occasion when facing a stronger opponent; that was his consistent style.

Suddenly, the pigeons were startled and took flight, spreading their wings and soaring into the sky.

As if receiving some kind of signal, the shooting range owner raised his two guns and fired several shots at Jing Chen. Jing Chen didn't fire simultaneously; instead, he crouched down, making it impossible for the shooting range owner's bullets to hit him.

"What!" The shooting range owner was shocked.

At this moment, Jing Chen had already raised the Starry Sky and fired three shots, aiming at the head, chest, and legs respectively. However, two of these three bullets were feints, and only one was the main attack.

It was obvious that the shooting range owner had also noticed this; a slight smile played on his lips as he turned to the side, trying to dodge all three bullets at once. However, Jing Chen also smiled at this moment.

If the shooting range vendor dared to turn to the side, he would fall into Jing Chen's second trap. Jing Chen knew that when the vendor turned to the side, he wouldn't be able to make another move for a short time, and that brief moment was Jing Chen's opportunity to attack!

Jing Chen turned Xingkong's gun around, aimed the sights at the shooting range uncle's forehead, and said calmly, "You lost." Then, without hesitation, he pulled the trigger.

"Oh no!" The shooting range owner realized something was wrong, but it was too late.

The bullet struck the shooting shop owner squarely between the eyebrows, and he fell backward.

"The winner is 'Jing Chen'!" Mikako announced from the side.

Jing Chen walked up to the shooting range owner, extended a hand, and the owner smiled, grasped Jing Chen's hand, and was pulled up by Jing Chen.

"Not bad, young man," said the man at the shooting range.

Jing Chen said, "Uncle, your shooting skills are truly impressive. Without using a little trick, I really can't beat you."

The shooting range owner chuckled, dragged a coffin marked with a cross, and left.

Mikako handed the winner's ten million to Jing Chen, who accepted it without hesitation.

……

After everything had passed, Zhishu was dragged by Chuyuan to continue exploring the festival. Jingchen sat alone on the steps, looking up at the fireworks blooming one after another in the night sky. Icarus walked over at this moment. Jingchen turned around and saw that Icarus was very dirty. He stood up and tried to brush the dust off Icarus, but the dirt wouldn't come off no matter how hard he tried.

"It's rare for you to wear a yukata, and it's gotten so dirty..." Jing Chen said, grabbing Icarus's left hand and seeing the injury. "What happened? Icarus, does it hurt?"

"It's alright, Master."

Jing Chen looked at Icarus's face and couldn't help but pinch Icarus's chubby cheeks, saying, "It's really unbelievable. Your skin is so soft, yet you're unharmed after being hit by a pistol bullet."

Releasing Icarus's face, Jing Chen looked at Icarus and said, "Don't do anything as dangerous as that again, understand?"

Icarus paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "Yes, Master."

"Don't think it doesn't matter if you die. If you die, I'll be very sad. If you do anything dangerous like this again, I'll be angry!" Jing Chen turned around and continued sitting on the steps, watching the fireworks bloom in the night sky. "You're a girl, don't push yourself too hard, understand? I'm your master, sometimes... you have to rely on me."

Icarus watched Jing Chen's retreating figure, tears welling in her eyes, accompanied by soft sobs. Seemingly not wanting Jing Chen to see her cry, Icarus covered her face with her hands.

Jing Chen stood up, turned around, and pulled Icarus's hand away, gently wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes. "Don't cry, Icarus. You look better when you smile than when you cry."

"Yes, Master..." Icarus's reply was tinged with a slight sob.

Jing Chen pulled Icarus into his arms and gently stroked Icarus's head. "It's okay, I've always been here, now and forever..."
