Chapter 229 Young Master Crow
Chapter 229 Young Master Crow
The endless rain washes over the earth.
Unseen by the light of night, they tirelessly rushed about and fought.
Aglaia took out her pocket watch to check the time; it was nearly midnight, exceeding her agreed-upon four-hour shift. Without hesitation, she turned and disappeared into the darkness, her mind preoccupied with the safety of her mother and sister.
Gawain stared blankly at Aglaia's departing figure. The next second, the entire Night's Watch squad scattered in a chaotic melee.
Didn't I tell you that we need people right now? How can you take the lead in shirking your responsibilities?
On her way home, Aglaia dealt with a strange creature blocking her path. The giant human-head balloon floating in the air had already captured several prey, but unexpectedly, it had run into a brick wall.
The burst of pure white flames easily tore through the obstacles in front of them.
These bizarre and strange creatures only look impressive on the outside; in reality, their physical strength is as weak as tofu, far inferior to that of the abyss demons.
The strength of the Weird is mainly measured by the quality of its negative energy.
Similar to the strange hair encountered earlier, it appears weak on the outside, but in reality, it unleashes a sudden burst of negative energy that even elite swordsmen would find difficult to withstand.
Aglaia stood in front of her house and gently knocked.
"Who is it!" Aria's childish voice asked.
"It's me..."
A magical lamp shone through the crack in the door, and hurried footsteps echoed. Aria, still sleepy-eyed, opened the door.
Tai'an did not take all his men back to the North. Seats in the magic-powered vehicles were limited, so some had to be sacrificed. Therefore, priority was given to arranging for the maids with families in the capital to rest for a period of time.
"Sis! You're back so late..."
Aglaia entered the house, pulled back the hood of her Night Watch cloak, let out a long sigh, and turned to lock the door. "Don't go out at night lately; it's dangerous outside."
"I heard on the radio that something strange is happening outside! Is the situation serious?" Mother Yuna sat up from the bed.
"It's much more serious than in previous years!" Aglaia said gravely.
Tonight, she doesn't even plan to rest without taking off her armor.
"Hello!" The three-eyed raven poked its head out from its collar.
"Young Master!" Alya exclaimed in surprise, her eyes wide with curiosity as she wondered why Taian was here.
Yuna's eyes were dazed; she subconsciously thought the crow was calling her "Young Master," and thought to herself, "What a strange name..."
The Northern Territory, the capital city of Blue Rose.
The clear night sky was spotless, dotted with stars of various colors. The peaceful and serene atmosphere, along with the cool night breeze, made the heat feel nonexistent.
Tai'an took out a sofa set from his spatial ring and placed it on the rooftop terrace. The air inside the castle was stuffy, unlike the comfort of the outside.
"Young Master, the city seems to be in chaos today!" Mussofi reported from behind.
"Oh, what's going on?" Tai'an asked, slightly surprised.
"They're all weird things that pop up every year around Halloween," Mussophie replied.
"Let's go out and get some exercise..." Tai'an thought to himself.
Destroying the cursed object that the spirit resides in only addresses the symptoms, not the root cause. For his own territory, he painstakingly adopted a solution of repairing the space itself.
Where the source eye swept across, the spatial cracks began to slowly heal. In addition, there's the matter of reinforcing the barrier's thickness, usually by flattening out areas with excessive folds, somewhat like a bricklayer applying putty.
I worked through the entire night without sleep.
As dawn approached, Tai'an yawned wearily and closed his eyes, which were burning from overuse.
Things generally don't happen during the day.
The sun's rays fill the material plane, affecting the arrival of consciousness in the spiritual dimension.
It was still raining heavily in the capital city early in the morning.
Ye Zi seriously considered the matter of temporarily closing Little Fish Canteen for a few days. What happened last night became a shadow that would haunt her for the rest of her life.
A gigantic baby with deathly gray skin crawled down the street, its size comparable to that of a house. It was an eerie sight, like something out of a nightmare, something never even seen in picture books.
If the night watchmen hadn't arrived in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Guts was still fast asleep, having fought intensely until 3 a.m. the previous night. Even the squad leader couldn't keep up and had to let him return to rest. The exhilarating battle had eased the pain of separation. A peaceful smile unconsciously graced his sleeping face.
When I woke up, it was already 2 p.m.
Gus was woken up by hunger, his stomach growling in protest.
The best way to solve the food problem is to go to Yezi's shop; cooking for yourself would be too much trouble.
Little Fish Canteen is still thriving today. Even though the peak dining hours have passed, the restaurant is still packed with people.
While listening to the radio, everyone discussed the strange events of the previous night with great interest.
As we all know, once a spirit attaches itself to a physical body, it becomes considered supernatural. Ultimately, these things aren't particularly powerful; they might be able to bully ordinary people, but if a strong individual is willing to intervene, they're basically like trash, easily dealt with. Of course, there are also some dangerous ones.
"Get me some food quickly, deduct it from the account." Gus stood in front of Yezi, who was in a daze. She was resting her chin on her hand, and she looked somewhat haggard.
"Brother Gus! What would you like to eat...?"
Yezi's sisters warmly gathered around.
Gus was the ideal boyfriend for girls. He was impeccable in terms of personal ability, family background, and ambition. However, he never treated anyone differently and always maintained a distance from them.
"Whatever's convenient..."
Gus spoke in a nonchalant tone, his gaze sweeping across the room, but he couldn't find an empty seat, so he had to stand and eat his pie.
The rain outside is not as heavy as it was last night; it's probably just moderate rain.
Ye Zi looked at Gus and said inexplicably, "I almost died yesterday..."
Gus paused, startled, and stopped swallowing. "What's going on?"
"I had already accepted my fate, but I didn't expect the Night Watch to arrive so quickly," Ye Zi muttered to herself.
Little Fish Canteen inevitably bears the mark of the Blue Rose family business.
The Night Watchers' leadership reached a consensus that any matter involving the Blue Rose family must be given top priority.
Therefore, when Little Fish Canteen used the SOS reel, they almost immediately eliminated all available manpower. They were even willing to abandon their current tasks for this purpose.
"This happened so suddenly! I forgot to tell you, it might get increasingly dangerous lately, so you have to close the shop and go home before dark. If the situation continues to worsen, I'll arrange for you to be placed in a completely safe place." Gus took the ale the freckled girl offered him.
Ye Zi's eyes regained focus as she stared at Gus: "At a time like this, you should put down what you're doing and go home to protect your family. Our place lacks a strong leader. If yesterday's monsters stormed into Gray Rat Alley, no one would be able to resist."
Guts frowned, his hand hovering over his glass, frozen in mid-air. "You make a good point. I'll go to the Night's Watch encampment later to discuss moving to a nearby area. If that doesn't work, we'll just have to withdraw..."
I'm having some writer's block. I've revised the last chapter multiple times, so it's best to reread it.
