Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 59 The World Is About to Change
That filthy pink-clad idiot is touching his butt!
Harry's face flushed crimson in an instant, the savage red temporarily overpowering the gold and purple. Sionstein activated, and the Blazing White Mantis Blade severed Lockhart's hand in a flash, then cut off his head and waist.
Sionstein shut down, and Harry clearly saw Lockhart's head and waist crack, and his hand falling downwards under the force of gravity. But then a pink light appeared, enveloping the severed area, and in an instant, Lockhart returned to normal.
Harry's prosthetic eye pupil contracted slightly—this was magic too!?
However, although Lockhart has recovered, he certainly doesn't dare to do this openly anymore.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Lockhart waved his right hand, his left arm moving from a sling to a rest on Harry's shoulder, gesturing for quiet. "What an extraordinary moment, what an incredible moment! Young Harry walks into Flourish and Blotts just to buy a copy of my autobiography!"
He picked up a whole set of books from the table behind him and walked back to Harry's side. "I'm willing to give him my entire signed set of books right here and now!" Applause erupted from the audience, and Lockhart's die-hard fans looked at Harry with envy and jealousy. "But he doesn't know that in the near future, he will receive something far more valuable than these books!" Lockhart shouted repeatedly, the letter "S" appearing on his pink clothes. "This September, I will enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher!"
The audience erupted in applause. Ron and Hermione stared at Lockhart in disbelief, while Harry remained expressionless, already wondering how to kill this guy without getting into trouble with Old Man Dennis.
Harry took Lockhart's autobiography, signed by him, and slowly walked off the stage. Before leaving, Lockhart's hand couldn't resist touching Harry's skin again. Harry was furious, but the golden and purple power within him suppressed the red one. He decided to hold back and deal with him at school.
Harry stepped off the platform, glanced at the books in his hand, and expressionlessly stuffed the set into Ginny's cauldron, which was standing behind Hermione. "Here you go, consider it your back-to-school present."
Ginny blushed deeply, lowered her head, and clutched Hermione's robe tightly to cover her face. Seeing Ginny like this, Harry felt a pang of guilt for giving away something he disliked.
Harry put the Lockhart book he had chosen before the signing event back in; he would rather throw the money away than waste it on that stinky book.
As Harry and his friends walked out of the bookstore, they saw a familiar face—the person they had teased a little too much.
"Hello, ha, Harry."
Draco Malfoy, his body no longer trembled as he looked at Harry, but his voice was still soft, and his eyes were filled with uncontrollable fear.
"Harry Potter!" A man with blond hair just like Draco walked out of Flourish and Blotts. He wore an expensive black suit with gold trim and carried a crystal-headed cane. He used a levitation charm to send the book over to Draco, then stood in front of Harry and looked down at him.
Harry ignored him completely and greeted the now-disciplined Malfoy, "Hey, Draco."
"Lucius, what are you doing!" Mr. Weasley saw this and quickly walked over.
"Arthur, this is none of your business!" Lucius said to Mr. Weasley. "This is a private matter between Harry Potter and me, so please keep your distance!" Lucius had no intention of speaking to Arthur at all.
"What private matter could possibly involve a child? I..."
"Uncle Arthur, there is something I need to do. Draco and I had some disagreements last semester, so..." Harry looked up and said obediently to Mr. Weasley, "Don't worry, I'll call you if anything happens. Besides, this is Diagon Alley; they won't do anything."
After Harry's persistent pleading, Mr. Weasley agreed to let Harry and Lucius speak. He led his family and Hermione's family to another shop, but kept his eyes fixed on this side and gripped his wand tightly in his hand.
"Harry Potter!" Lucius called out to Harry as the Weasleys left.
"What? I'm not deaf. What, do you need my permission to speak? Fine, fine, I give you permission."
"How rude of you..."
"You speak when I tell you to? You're really obedient."
Lucius's face was visibly flushed. Since he became the head of the family, he had never been treated like a dog or humiliated like this, except in his wife's bed.
"You!!" His pale face flushed with anger, but quickly, under Harry's astonished gaze, the anger on his face subsided, and his tone became calm. "Mr. Harry Potter, I know you and my little dragon have some issues, but beating him up like this is really going too far. So, I want you to give me a reasonable explanation. At least, I need to know why my child was beaten like this."
As expected of a top-tier corporate dog in the magical world, his speed of changing his expression and his tone of negotiation are exactly the same as those guys in Night City, even better. "No need to be so polite, corporate dog. I don't believe Dumbledore didn't tell you the specifics."
"What Headmaster Dumbledore said will always have some artistic embellishment. I would like to hear a more detailed answer from you." As he spoke, he looked down at Draco, who was pulling him back to stop him from continuing, a hint of heartache flashing in his eyes. He pulled Draco behind him and continued speaking calmly.
"I see, but your attitude doesn't seem like you're here to ask for answers..." Harry wasn't about to let any corporate sycophant slip through his fingers.
"It was indeed my fault just now." Lucius was still smiling. He took a key out of his pocket and handed it to Harry. He also used magic to conjure a note to wrap the key. Harry took the key from him, and the note immediately turned into a magical force, touched Harry's hand, and then dissipated. Harry also learned the words on the note: "Fifteen thousand Galleons. Please take good care of the little dragon."
Harry was shocked. This was way more valuable than working for Old Deng. No wonder people always preferred working for companies.
"Then, could you tell me why my little dragon was beaten like this?"
"Bullying, experimenting magic on classmates, stealing items, verbally abusing the other's family..." Harry listed them one by one, but didn't specify who was being bullied or verbally abused.
As Harry spoke, Draco hid even more tightly behind Lucius. Lucius's face began to tense up, and his cane itched as if he wanted to tap something. He'd wondered why Draco always dragged him along; it wasn't just because he was afraid of Harry...
"Thank you. Well then, Mr. Potter, about just now..." Lucius glanced at Harry's pocket, his meaning clear.
"Don't worry, Draco is still quite good, very likable." Harry laughed too. This commission is great, it's easier than Dumbledore's, and it can even pay about ten times more than Dumbledore's.
"I still hope that your children can get along harmoniously. As for anything else, I have nothing more to say. Goodbye, Mr. Potter, and I look forward to seeing you again."
"Mr. Lucius," Hermione said as she approached.
"What's wrong?" Lucius looked at Hermione, his eyes, which seemed born noble, widened in shock when they saw the notebook in Hermione's hand.
"You forgot something. I saw it 'fall' into Ginny's cauldron from one of the books you bought."
"Thanks, it must have fallen out by accident." Lucius laughed awkwardly, his previous act of smiling now somewhat broken.
He took the notebook, quickly left with Draco, and Harry put the key into the bag that had been enchanted with the Unseen Stretching Charm before following Hermione to meet up with Ron and the others.
...............
"You go upstairs first." Lucius returned home and sent Draco back to his own room.
"Sigh..." Lucius let out a long sigh. He felt that the wizarding world was about to change again, and it was a very serious one. Last time he went to Dumbledore to demand an explanation, but Dumbledore seemed to have lost his mind. Just as he was saying that he wanted to demand an explanation from the students, Dumbledore turned on him and his powerful magic almost broke his back. In the end, he was ruthlessly kicked out by Dumbledore, who didn't care at all about what would happen without the Board of Governors.
He joined forces with several school board members to put pressure on Dumbledore. However, two days before the pressure was supposed to begin, they all received warning letters from Dumbledore—or rather, threatening letters. None of them had actually read them yet, until the second night when Dumbledore went to the Goyle house, kicked open old Goyle's door, and without saying a word unleashed a massive firestorm. The firestorm was so large that a huge fire dragon stretched for several kilometers, yet not a single person was injured, and not even a single leaf on the trees along the way was burned.
Lucius looked down at the black notebook in his hand and felt more and more that finding a reliable person to take care of Draco at school was the right choice. Harry Potter was much more mature than he appeared.
"The weather's about to change..."
