Harry Potter, the savior of Night City
Chapter 14 The Energy Recharge Methods of the Transcendental
Harry returned from the headmaster's office, chewing on some candy he'd taken from Dumbledore. As soon as he came downstairs, he saw Ron pacing back and forth. Ron looked up and saw Harry, then immediately went to greet him. "Harry, Hermione's gone."
"Take your time," Harry said, not in a hurry. After all, apart from Quirrell, Hogwarts seemed relatively safe. Malfoy and the others had just been discharged from the hospital and probably wouldn't bother her. Hermione was probably just out reading somewhere again. It was unlikely that some troll from the books would appear and kidnap her.
"This morning in class, I don't know what came over me, but I blurted out to Hermione, 'If you love reading so much, find a quiet place to read, don't be so annoying.' Now, I've searched almost everywhere but I still can't find her."
"Don't worry, she probably won't hold it against you." Harry thought about Hermione's current state and said confidently to Ron, "She's probably just gone to find a place to read."
Ron felt a little calmer after hearing this, but he still felt bad. Harry noticed his state and knew what he was thinking. "If you really feel bad, then apologize properly next time you see her."
Hermione didn't show up all afternoon, and when the Halloween dinner started that evening, Harry and the others still couldn't find Hermione, which made Harry wonder if Hermione was really angry.
The Halloween party was beautifully decorated, with countless chocolate bats flying on the walls and ceiling, and all sorts of food piled on plates. Harry, true to his heart, ate pumpkin pie. If a chocolate bat flew in front of him, he would grab it and press it into the pumpkin pie to make sauce.
Just as Harry was enjoying his meal, Professor Quirrell burst through the door with a powerful slam and rushed into the Great Hall. His face was filled with terror, his turban askew, and after catching his breath, he looked at Dumbledore and shouted, "Trolls! In, in the underground classrooms, I, I thought you knew!" Then he collapsed and passed out.
The Great Hall was quiet for a moment, then erupted into chaos. Harry and Ron clearly heard Hermione's roommate say, "Hermione's still in the underground classroom; she said she's going there to read!"
"Is my mouth blessed or something...?" Harry rubbed his forehead, feeling helpless about his blessed mouth.
Ron stepped forward and grabbed Harry's arm. "We have to go find her. She'll definitely get into trouble if she's alone."
Harry glanced at Ron, then chuckled, "You do have some sense of responsibility." He then pulled him into the crowd, "Let's go."
Harry and Ron made their way through the crowd toward the underground classrooms. On the way, they saw a figure heading toward the fourth floor.
"That's... Snape? What's he going to do?"
"Alright, stop thinking about it. The most important thing now is to find Hermione." Knowing the inside story, Harry stopped Ron from exploring and pulled him back to the basement.
"Oh my god, it stinks." Ron covered his nose, and Harry frowned in disgust.
They peeked out and saw the source of the stench: a gigantic figure nearly four meters tall, its skin like piled-up rocks, its head and body severely disproportionate—such a large body and such a small head, it was like a pumpkin with a grape on top.
He was dragging a huge wooden stick, which looked bigger than Ron. The troll wandered aimlessly and finally stopped by a door. It looked inside and decided to go inside.
Harry and Ron immediately went over and peered through the door, where they spotted a familiar figure engrossed in reading a book at the table.
"Hermione..." Before Ron could even call out, Harry rushed over and reached out to push Hermione away, but was blocked by a barrier. At this moment, Hermione was completely oblivious to what was happening outside, simply reading her book quietly. The troll raised the wooden club in its hand, about to smash it down on Hermione and Harry.
"Yugardim, Leviosa!" Ron drew his wand and chanted the spell over the troll's wooden club. The club flew into the air, and the troll, with its pitifully small brain, had no idea what was happening. It looked at its hand in confusion, wondering why its weapon had suddenly disappeared.
Harry's Sianwaystein activated, and time slowed down in his eyes. He drew his Yinglong sword and fired wildly at the troll. Bullets carrying high-voltage current flew towards the troll, and before the bullets reached it, Harry's mantis knife popped out from his arm. Using the mantis knife as a walking stick, he inserted it into the troll's skin and quickly climbed upwards. Then, sitting on the troll's neck, he repeatedly slashed at the arteries and organs in its neck until he saw that the troll's neck was cut in half. He then pulled out a grenade from his pocket, pulled out the pin, and stuffed it into the troll's severed neck. Then, he stomped on the troll's back and jumped away. At this moment, the effects of Sianwaystein ended.
All the bullets pierced the troll's body, the electric current paralyzed it, and the severed artery in its neck sprayed foul-smelling blood into the air. Finally, with a "boom," the grenade exploded, blasting the troll's neck and chest into pieces. Its massive body swayed twice before crashing to the ground.
Ron could no longer hold on to the stick, and it crashed down from the air with a thud.
"What happened? What's wrong?"
Hermione's blue barrier receded, and the symbol of the Twin Serpents Staff became more prominent in her eyes, but she also seemed much more vibrant.
"Ah!" Hermione exclaimed in shock upon seeing the troll's mangled body on the ground. "What... what is this?"
"A troll, probably Quirrell let it in." Harry was wiping the blood off the Mantis Knife, the Mantis Knife's spirit conveying the thought "disgusting" to him.
"What happened to you? You didn't even notice the troll coming in, and you had a shield all the time." Ron was exhausted and sat down on the ground, asking Hermione, "We thought you were missing and came looking for you."
"I'm just..."
"What are you doing, oh Merlin!" Professor McGonagall arrived with several other professors, and she was also startled by the sight of the giant's mangled corpse on the ground.
"You...you actually killed a giant?!" Professor McGonagall exclaimed in disbelief. "Merlin's beard! You're lucky you weren't killed by it."
Snape examined the troll's corpse, stood up, walked over to Harry, and said, "You killed it, didn't you? The explosion, the bullets, the knife marks—they're all yours."
"I killed him." Harry put away his mantis knife and looked at Professor Snape.
"My God, do you know how dangerous this was? You might be dead if it weren't for those things!" Professor McGonagall strode over to Harry and checked him for any wounds. "Are you injured?"
"No, Professor." Harry obediently allowed Professor McGonagall to examine him, a stark contrast to his attitude towards that old man.
At this moment, Hermione, who had been in the corner, spoke up.
"It's me, Professor McGonagall. They're looking for me."
"Miss Granger, you'd better explain to me what's going on."
"I've come to find the troll. I know it well, and I believe I can defeat it."
Professor McGonagall crossed her arms and looked at Hermione. "Silly girl, how could you think you could handle such a huge troll all by yourself?" Professor McGonagall said, tapping Hermione's head with her fingers.
"Alright, that's enough," Professor McGonagall said sternly to Hermione. "Gryffindor will lose five points because of this."
Professor McGonagall then turned to Harry and Ron.
"Although your actions were quite reckless, not many first-year students can fight a troll and even turn the tables on it. Harry, you've earned 15 points for Slytherin. Ron, you've earned 10 points for Gryffindor. Alright, now you can leave."
The three left the basement. Ron looked at Hermione with obvious embarrassment, but he eventually said, "I'm sorry."
Hermione was a little confused, and it took her a while to realize it referred to the sentence from that morning. She smiled and replied, "Thank you."
Harry remained silent for a moment, then suddenly noticed a change in the energy bar. The "Energy Transfer: 0.1%" had become "Energy Transfer: 40.1%". This reminded him that when he first transferred, he seemed to have no energy at all, and it was only after he killed the owl that the energy increased by 0.1%. At that moment, he seemed to understand something.
"Is this teleportation energy linked to the creatures killed?"
"Harry, Harry?" Ron waved in front of Harry. "What's going on? Hermione this morning, and now it's you. Why are there so few normal people around me?"
Harry reached out, made a fist, and tapped Ron on the head. Hermione also reached out and pinched Ron's arm. Ron winced in pain, but the three of them laughed at the same time.
"It feels pretty good to be with a few innocent people, without having to scheme against each other or worry about being betrayed," Harry thought.
