Chapter 80 Some Unspeakable Things Between Skye and Jon in the Carriage

On the way, Jon carefully flipped through today's newspaper.

His expression immediately became subtle when he saw the headline news.

Just yesterday, another unknown mutant, incredibly audacious, stormed the White House in an attempt to assassinate the president.

"Assassinate the president? That's incredibly audacious." Jon stroked his chin thoughtfully, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes. "It seems the situation for mutants is getting worse and worse."

The consequences of this assassination are already obvious: the terrified president will completely side with Stryker.

In the final year of his term, the president was more concerned about his image and his attitude was ambiguous.

But this fool's assassination attempt conveniently provided an excuse for high-ranking government officials who were already jealous of mutant abilities.

Jon didn't even need to think to know that the president must have told Stryker, "Get this cleaned up. I don't want to see dead mutant children in the newspapers."

The implication is that, as long as it goes unnoticed by the media, the president grants Stryker the power to kill mutants.

In Jon's view, the current situation is like a pot of boiling oil, and both humans and mutants are adding fuel to the fire.

What a bunch of idiots!

However, this has nothing to do with Jon Snow, the Stand user, since they are unlikely to actually go to extremes.

In the end, the human leadership simply scapegoated the president to quell the mutants' anger, and that was the end of it.

The American way of solving problems today is to deal with the people who raise them if you can't solve them.

"Are you thinking about mutants?" Skye asked as she drove.

"Yeah, guess who I ran into."

Jon told her about meeting Professor X and Wolverine at the airport.

"Jon, you've run into the X-Men!" Skye raised an eyebrow, her voice excited. "They're so cool, right?"

"What's so cool about a bunch of freaks in yellow bodysuits?" Jon retorted sarcastically.

"Really? I think..."

Skye was halfway through her sentence when she noticed Jon's resentful look and immediately changed her words.

"Actually, they're just so-so, like an outdated pop band. You get tired of them after a while, and they're not cool at all."

"Right?"

Jon nodded in satisfaction, crossed his arms, and ended the conversation.

The two then talked about Jon's school trip, but their conversation soon went astray.

"Wait?" Jon leaned forward, forcing a calm expression. "What did you just say I was going to learn?"

Skye's eyes gradually hardened with suspicion. She subtly slowed the car and asked casually, "Oceanology, huh? Your principal said you were an excellent debater...wait, isn't that your major?"

"Of course!" Jon smiled stiffly, quickly trying to cover up before she could react, "I went to the Ocean Current Research Institute with my mentor."

"Honestly, I feel like I was born to study oceanography, you know? The ocean is a complex ecosystem..."

'

He began to rattle off the technical terms he had heard from Jotaro, after all, Jotaro was a PhD in oceanography.

But Jon was cursing inwardly, "Damn Coulson! He can't even make his lies believable."

Keep in mind, they were going to the western part of the country, the border region between Mexico and Texas, a place without a coastline.

It's all desert and hills, how can you study the ocean? We're lucky to have any water to drink.

If he hadn't had some knowledge of oceanography, he would have been exposed without a doubt this time.

After being bombarded with technical jargon, Skye was completely bewildered and said blankly, "This subject is truly profound... as expected of you, Jon."

"Of course." Jon quietly wiped the fine sweat from his forehead.

Indeed, in critical moments, the knowledge you've accumulated over time will never betray you.

He secretly breathed a sigh of relief and vowed to study hard and try to get a doctorate.

In his view, everyone else has one, so how could he, Jon Yovik, not have a doctoral degree?

Jon makes this sound easy, but for him, a doctorate was indeed easy.

As a descendant of Dio and Gio, he naturally inherited their extraordinary learning abilities.

Back in the day, Jonathan and Dio both graduated first in their class in archaeology and law, respectively.

There was no one in the Joestar family who didn't do well in school, except for Joseph.

And look at this world again, at those who will dominate the future.

Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk, and Professor X and Doctor Strange whom we just met—aren't they all PhDs?

These people alone fully demonstrate the importance of knowledge.

"Beep—" The phone notification sound suddenly rang.

"Hmm?" Jon frowned, took out his phone, and saw that it was an email from James Rhodes.

He immediately tensed up, because the two of them never contacted each other normally, so their sudden contact must mean something important.

"Let me see..." He solemnly opened the email, and a picture popped up.

"Oh my god!"

Jon gasped in surprise, his expression instantly becoming extremely complex.

"What's wrong?" Skye was startled by his reaction and turned around nervously.

Jon silently turned the phone toward Skye without saying a word.

The photo was taken from a high platform, showing two figures embracing and kissing intimately in the night.

This scene was captured by Rhodes, who had come to talk to Tony.

"Oh my god!" Skye's eyes widened. "Your aunt is sleeping with Tony Stark?"

"Yeah, damn Tony." Jon feigned helplessness, but was secretly overjoyed.

Damn it, Tony, you're a genius! You went to such lengths for me. Your IQ must be over 160!

After all, in his opinion, given how much Tony and Pepper were inseparable, once they fell in love, his troublesome aunt would definitely not have time to care about him.

"Jon..." Skye narrowed her eyes, "You're not secretly pleased, are you?"

"Focus on driving," Jon replied irritably.

After this little incident, they quickly returned to their home in Brooklyn.

"Finally home." Jon stretched. "Skye, you have the keys, right?"

"Coming right away." Skye locked the car and jogged over, but suddenly froze as she took out her keys.

"What's wrong?"

"Uh..." Skye forced an awkward smile, "How about we grab a bite to eat first? It's on me."

"Thanks, but all I want to do right now is sleep."

Jon took the key from her hand and pushed open the door.

"Wait, don't—" Skye's intervention came a step too late.

"this..."

Jon stood in the doorway, his eyelids twitching incessantly.

His gaze moved from the underwear scattered on the floor to the mountain of dirty clothes piled on the sofa, and finally settled on Skye's face.

"This... I can explain."

Skye grabbed his arm and gave him a fawning smile.

"Ha." Jon sneered, shook off her hand, and strode into the house.

He casually picked up a crumpled T-shirt and waved it in front of Skye.

"I asked you to help look after the house, and you..." He took a deep breath, "Skye, clean it up right now, and I might consider forgiving you."

"Really?" Skye's eyes lit up, and she deftly rolled up her sleeves, revealing her tanned arms. "A piece of cake!"

"How about we go out for dinner tonight after we finish cleaning?" A sly glint flashed in Miss Skye's eyes.

It seems someone is not satisfied with the current progress and is preparing to take the initiative.
