Chapter 6 The Blade Runner Who Buys Garlic

"No one should interrupt me before I finish speaking. I'll try to finish in one go."

Jon sat up from his sickbed, his gaze sweeping across everyone's faces before finally settling on Tony.

Because in his view, Tony was the guy most likely to interrupt him among the group.

"Alright, kid."

Tony pursed his lips and made a zipper-sealing motion.

I will try my best.

Upon hearing this, Jon nodded in satisfaction. For Tony, it was already good enough that he didn't say anything.

"Then I'll begin. First of all, the group of guys I killed were vampires."

"Wait, wait!"

Tony stood up from his chair.

"You mean the vampires from Twilight?"

"Are there really people who watch this kind of melodramatic movie?"

"Of course," Tony said smugly, straightening his collar, "because I invested in that movie."

"Cough cough."

Coulson coughed lightly and held up the tablet with half a sentence written on it.

"Gentlemen, could you please show some respect for the recorder?"

"I'm still writing this down. This is my assessment of you. I hope we won't change the subject from here on out, okay?"

"Okay." Jon and Tony exchanged a glance, then shrugged.

"They are indeed vampires, there's no doubt about that, and the ability I use is called Ripple, it is..."

"Ripple?" Coulson stopped taking notes.

He looked up at Jon with a strange expression and said:

"You mean, that golden lightning in your hand is called Ripple?"

"I thought you should have chosen a cooler name."

In Coulson's view, a young man like Jon Snow, who had just come of age, should have a cool name.

At this point, Coulson added another entry to Jon's character description: precocious.

Then, Coulson thought for a moment and added another note:

"Jon Yowick possesses an aura that commands respect from those who meet him for the first time."

"That's enough." Jon rubbed his temples in annoyance.

Seeing this, Coulson realized what was happening, and with an embarrassed smile, he said:

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I thought..."

"Alright, alright." Jon raised his hand to stop Coulson's apology, then retorted:

"Agent Coulson, you're nothing like the agent I imagined."

"My boss said the same thing. He always said that my Level 8 agent certification was questionable and that I should go back to the intelligence academy to repeat a year."

"I can tell." Jon rolled his eyes; he didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"By the way, we'll talk about the principle behind ripples later, I have something to do right now."

As he spoke, Jon sat up from the edge of the bed, and amidst the puzzled gazes of the others, he suddenly clenched his fist.

With a snap, the plaster cast covering his arms cracked open.

"Waaaaah!" Tony let out several strange cries in a row.

"Oh my God!" Pepper exclaimed, covering her mouth. "Jon, are you crazy?"

"I'm not crazy. It's nighttime now, which is when they're active."

Jon put on his coat and walked towards the door.

"I've been targeted by those vampires. Staying here won't be good for you. Rather than them coming after me, I'd rather take the initiative."

Tony's expression was full of hesitation; he admitted he had been a bit too superficial.

He wanted to persuade her to stay, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.

Just as Jon reached the door, he suddenly turned around and said:

"By the way, Coulson, could you help me find someone based on the conditions we just discussed?"

"no problem."

Upon hearing this, Coulson readily agreed, pointing to the earpiece on his ear and saying:

"The bureau chief has already agreed."

"That's good. The person I'm looking for is named Eric Brooks, and he's a really cool black guy."

Jon then added:

"He always wears sunglasses, and his hair looks something like this."

Jon gestured with his hair and said:

"It should be very easy to recognize."

"That's all?" Coulson said. "No other features?"

"Hmm." Jon nodded. "It should be easy to find, right?"

Coulson didn't answer, but calmly held up five fingers.

"Five days?"

"Five seconds." Coulson smiled. "The person you're looking for has been found."

"This guy just bought a bag of garlic from the mall this afternoon."

Coulson moved his fingers back and forth on his tablet, and a map appeared on the screen.

Then one red circle after another was marked on the map.

"These are the places he frequents, but he's consciously avoiding cameras, so we can only roughly know his area of activity."

"So fast?"

Jon was somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected S.H.I.E.L.D. to be so efficient. No wonder it was a global law enforcement agency.

"Thanks, Coulson. And could I borrow your sunglasses?"

After noting down the address, Jon took Coulson's sunglasses and strode away.

Seeing Jon leave the ward, Coulson followed him out.

Watching Jon's departing figure.

He stood in the corridor, raising his hand to press the button on his earpiece as he reported:

"Boss, he's gone."

Then Coulson heard Nick Fury's calm voice through his earpiece.

However, the noise from his side was a bit loud, like someone was doing some kind of renovation.

"Agent Coulson, tell me, was he startled?"

"Yes, boss." Coulson smirked. "He was definitely taken aback."

"But boss, is it really worth it to use up 80% of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s computing power just to find someone?"

Inside S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury glanced at the head of the research department standing at his door, cursing incessantly, and smiled faintly.

"It's definitely worth it, but dealing with the people in the research department is quite troublesome."

So he turned his chair around, leaving only his back to the head of the research department who was banging on the door.

So the old man cursed even more vehemently.

"Agent Melinda once taught me a proverb: 'Slap your own face until it's swollen, then pretend to be fat.' It works very well."

"Boss, I think you're right."

Coulson agreed, but kept those words in mind.

"By the way," Nick Fury swiveled his chair again, "where do you think his abilities should fit on the list?"

"I don't know. I always feel like he's hiding something, and his abilities shouldn't be as simple as just Ripple."

In the shadows, his expression turned very serious, no longer the kind one he had just moments before.

"Ever since I went out to make a phone call, the situation on the ground has spiraled out of control, and the pace of the questioning has been completely dictated by Jon."

He's not as simple as he seems.

Coulson suddenly realized that even just looking at Jon's face, anyone with a brain would know that this guy was no ordinary person.

"Well, he's not simple on the surface either."

Honestly, if he hadn't seen the surveillance footage, he would have thought Jon was the one who was trying to kidnap Pepper.

Nick Fury nodded and said:

"Then we'll leave him off the list for now, and I'll meet him in person," Fury said.

"You return to the team first. Agent Coulson."

"Understood, boss."
