Chapter 36: Many Western Legends

(We're having a trial run PK on Thursday, so please stop waiting for the book to finish! The fate of this book is about to be decided!! I'm begging you!)

Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters building.

Natasha, having completed her undercover mission, walked into Fury's office.

Hearing the crisp footsteps, Fury turned his chair around and said in a stiff tone:

"Agent Romanov, you've kept me waiting for a long time."

As he spoke, he stared coldly at Natasha with his single eye.

Natasha paused, rolling her eyes.

She knew Fury was going crazy again, but that was normal; agents, after all, couldn't be normal.

Suppressing your emotions for too long can be very detrimental.

At the same time, as a subordinate, she had long been used to her boss's occasional emotional outbursts.

"Frey," she said helplessly, looking at her boss posing for a photo, "Have you taken the wrong medicine today?"

Fury stiffened for a moment, but quickly regained his composure and said seriously:

"Did you see that purple giant that the camera couldn't capture?"

"I saw it," Natasha recalled. "It was even more shocking than you described."

Platinum Star left a very, very deep impression on her.

That body, as strong as an ancient Greek statue, possessed astonishing speed and an overwhelming sense of oppression.

The chill that rose through her body when she was locked onto by the Platinum Star was something she would never forget.

"Do you think he's dangerous?" Fury asked casually as he sat down.

“It’s not dangerous,” Natasha said without hesitation. “I believe Jon can control his power.”

"Fury, as a Level 7 agent, am I qualified to vouch for him?"

"If you insist," Fury shrugged, "you're not the first anyway."

"Who else?" Natasha raised an eyebrow.

"Phil Coulson," Fury said with a helpless expression, "two out of the three people I trust most have vouched for that kid."

He shrugged and said self-deprecatingly:

"It feels like after the divorce, neither of my two children chose me."

"Never mind." Fury turned to the computer beside him. "Barton, what do you think?"

Patton's voice came from the computer: "I'll see with my eyes, right here in New Mexico."

"I will see through Jon Yovic's true nature!"

During the day, a specially modified Chevrolet speeds along a highway full of yellow sand.

Jon Snow sat in the driver's seat wearing sunglasses, his left hand casually resting on the steering wheel.

Coulson, in the passenger seat, was fast asleep, covered with his coat.

There was nothing he could do about it. As an ordinary person, after a night of thrilling experiences coupled with a midlife crisis, his energy was already completely depleted.

So, after he nearly crashed into the guardrail for the third time, Jon firmly pushed the stubborn guy into the passenger seat.

For his safety.

In the western United States, the roads are empty and there are very few vehicles.

But Jon drove very steadily.

He was also very interested in the car, which was equipped with autonomous driving and various strange systems.

Most importantly, Fury had officially given him the car, though Jon didn't understand why.

All I can say is, "I can only sigh."

"What a rich dog," Jon said, tapping the steering wheel idly.

"What kind of bigwig?" Coulson suddenly spoke up. "Is it the chief?"

"What else?" Jon pulled up the car's infotainment system. "Hey, why are you awake?"

"It all started with that 'dog tycoon' thing you mentioned," Coulson shrugged. "How did the chief become a 'dog tycoon'?"

Jon pursed his lips and pointed.

"You'll understand once you look at these specifications."

"Like this, an injury assessment? Seriously? What's the point of this?"

After saying that, he casually swiped to the next page, "Flight system? Interesting, but the engine's quality is questionable..."

He turned another page, then his finger suddenly stopped.

"Wait, this system..." Jon stared at the air conditioning interface. "Coulson, do you think this is a good idea?"

"Just call me Phil, and I think it's a good idea."

"Then you can call me JOJO too." Jon turned on the air conditioner. "Of course, Jon is fine too."

Coulson smiled, his eyes filled with Jon's image.

After everything that happened last night, he has completely accepted this young man.

He knows better than anyone else now.

The seemingly indifferent Jon Snow in front of me is always the one who will step forward in times of crisis.

Simply put, Jon Yowick, this young man, possesses a spirit that shines like gold.

"By the way, Phil, would you like some water?"

Jon handed over a thermos with a kitten pattern printed on it.

Thanks.

Coulson instinctively took it, but then suddenly froze.

"etc!"

He seemed to realize something, then quickly scanned the interior of the car, his Adam's apple bobbing.

"Jesus!"

"Jon... does this car look like the chief's?"

"It's mine now," Jon shrugged. "But you only just realized that?"

Coulson looked on in disbelief; he had no idea that Fury was so good to Jon.

He complained:

"Damn it, do you know he wouldn't even approve a single old-fashioned plane for me!"

"An airplane?" Fragments of memories flashed through Jon's mind.

Could that plane be the Airbus that the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were flying?

"Oh, right."

Coulson suddenly slapped his forehead and said:

"Damn it, I was so engrossed in chatting that I almost forgot about the important matter."

"What important business?" Jon took off his sunglasses. "Aren't we here to investigate the hammer?"

"You really think it's that simple?" Coulson gave a meaningful smile and took out a tablet from the back seat.

He instructed the car's AI: "Activate autopilot."

"receive."

Just as Jon was wondering...

Coulson quickly pulled up a set of documents and handed them over.

"Take a look at this local legend."

Jon took the tablet, his brows gradually furrowing.

All he could see on the screen in front of him was a strange doodle.

This graffiti is also found all over New Mexico.

"A burning skull?" Jon's heart skipped a beat when he saw the graffiti. "Could it be that thing?"

The image and legend of Ghost Rider immediately came to mind.

"You know this?" Coulson pointed at the graffiti in surprise. "Including its legend and meaning? Are you serious?"

"I knew bringing you here was the right decision."

Upon hearing this, Jon nodded solemnly and said:

"If it really is what I'm thinking, then we'd better not go out tonight."

"It appears at night?" Coulson's expression turned serious. "And it's even more troublesome than vampires?"

As a secret agent, nighttime operations were commonplace for him, making it impossible for him to stay indoors all the time.

Jon nodded.

"It's even worse, I won't tell you, you can still sleep if you don't know."

"...I understand." Coulson chose to trust Jon's judgment. "Oh, and this..."

Coulson swiped the screen to bring up a new picture.

The picture shows a gypsy woman with her face covered, who is about twenty-five years old.

"The legendary death diviner." His voice turned somber.

"Legend has it that everyone who has their fortune told by her will suffocate and die within three days."

"But it's very strange that they strangled themselves."

Jon stared at the photo and noticed that Coulson's fingertips were slightly white.

"The autopsy report is even stranger," Coulson continued, "The body surface was covered with a large amount of water droplets, but on every face..."

He paused for a moment, then said, "They all had unusually satisfied and happy smiles on their faces."

"Gypsy witch..." Jon tapped the screen with his knuckles.

He suddenly let out a cold laugh.

"She'd better pray she never runs into me."

The temperature inside the car suddenly dropped.

"If I happen to run into her," Jon's red eyes narrowed in the shadow of his hat, "I'll make sure she never gets up again."
