Chapter 73 - Sharing the Fruits of Victory
According to the founding year of Konoha, this should be Konoha Year 50. Since the outbreak of the Third Shinobi World War in February 47, the war has lasted for three and a half years.
August 8th this year was an auspicious day. Konoha achieved a great victory, completely driving the invading Kirigakure out of the Land of Fire and restoring peace to the southeastern part of the country.
In the second year after the war began, Konoha defeated Sunagakure. In the third year, Konoha defeated Iwagakure. This year, under Orochimaru's leadership and the guidance of the Uchiha clan, they defeated Kirigakure.
Now all that's left is to add Kumogakure to the list of defeated nations.
The Hyuga clan has lost a tremendous contribution; now it remains to be seen whether, under the leadership of Hyuga Hiashi, they can achieve something by defeating the Cloud Ninja barbarians in the north.
Hiashi Hyuga: We have to beat the Cloud Ninja to a pulp, otherwise how will we be able to hold our heads high in front of the Uchiha clan in the future?
Having defeated three ninja villages of similar strength in succession, Konoha was enjoying unparalleled prominence.
Battle reports from individual ninja villages may be false, but the battle lines will not. From the development of the Fourth Shinobi World War to the current situation, we can also see the order of strength of the five great ninja villages.
Konoha Village is undoubtedly the best in the world, Kumogakure Village is second, and Iwagakure Village is third. If they hadn't been defeated by the Third Raikage alone, they wouldn't have fallen to Konoha so quickly.
As for Sunagakure and Kirigakure, one started the war first and was quickly defeated, while the other joined the Fourth Shinobi World War last and was also quickly defeated.
The two weaklings are currently fighting each other on an archipelago in the southern sea, trying to get the title of the weakest ninja village onto the other.
Higashino Makoto believes that the weakest village right now is Kirigakure, since Sunagakure is fighting them while also resisting Iwagakure in the north.
This also puts Sunagakure under the most pressure. Their natural conditions are the worst among the five great ninja villages. They have scarce resources and insufficient foundation. They urgently need to end the war with Kirigakure in the south and then concentrate their forces to drive Iwagakure out so that they can have time to catch their breath and recover.
Yekura: Rasa, don't look at me! Although I've killed so many Mist Ninjas that my hands are sore, these lunatics just won't surrender. What can I do?
Rasa: What kind of conditions do those lunatics from Kirigakure want before they'll sit down at the peace table? They can't possibly expect me to sacrifice my Kirigakure Noble Phantasm, Pakura, can they?
----------
The next morning, when Fugaku Uchiha led the main force back to the command post, excited cheers resounded throughout the Konoha camp.
All the ninjas were overjoyed. The defeat of Kirigakure signified a complete victory on the eastern front. They had finally survived the war and could go home alive.
With the communication ban lifted, letters carrying the ninjas' longing for their loved ones began to arrive as messenger ninjas set off on their journey back to Konoha.
Among these letters were one from Higashino Makoto and Uzuki Yugao. As for Gekko Hayate? Wasn't his father right there? Why would he write a letter?
The victory report and detailed account of the events had already been drafted by Suzaku Nara, approved by Orochimaru and Fugaku Uchiha, and sent back to Konoha through special means after the attack on the Mist Command Center.
Now, the Konoha ninjas on the eastern front can simply enjoy the fruits of their victory.
The adult ninjas were overjoyed, celebrating that they were still alive.
The fresh graduates of the past few years are very happy, celebrating that they survived and that they can add a significant achievement to their resumes.
The medical ninjas were happy. The casualties in this counterattack were not high. They did not have to work up a dog's pace by treating the wounded, nor did they have to feel heartbroken and powerless when faced with rows of their comrades' corpses.
Orochimaru was very happy because he had long wanted to stop wasting time here. He had basically achieved his goal of coming to the Eastern Front and had obtained a lot of experimental subjects with special bloodlines.
He also accomplished some of his initial plans, such as establishing several private laboratories overseas during the war.
He was most satisfied with the laboratory in the Sea Kingdom, which was not only well-equipped, but also had a talented research assistant named Tianzhi who agreed with his ideas.
Otherwise, what do you think this snake is doing all these times when it disappears? Is it really just taking that idiot disciple, Mitarashi Anko, on training missions?
Now that all objectives have been achieved and the war has ended just in time, he can focus on his beloved experiments. What if there are new needs here in the future? That's simple, just take on a mission and come back with Red Bean.
As for the credit for defeating Kirigakure? It was just a side job.
If the Uchiha clan wants it, take it. He no longer cares about these things. His final appearance was purely due to his identity, which forced him to show up.
Orochimaru swore that he absolutely did not mean to disgust Fugaku Uchiha.
Higashino was very happy. Now he was famous. With the team's return, all the Konoha ninjas here knew that another 10-year-old (by Chinese reckoning) genius had appeared in the village. He saved his comrades with a super-huge earth wall and then used a super terrifying wind release sword technique to instantly wipe out at least half of the ninjas in the Mist Village stronghold, ensuring the victory of the Seventh Assault Team.
Horror!
And this claim became increasingly outrageous, evolving in just half a day to the point that Higashino Shinichi had sliced through the mountain where the Mist Ninja stronghold was located with a single sword strike.
Not only that, the wind blades emitted from the sword will actively seek out enemies, then slice them in half at the waist, and casually hang their buttocks on a tree.
Makoto Higashino: "..."
Those guys who ended up with their butts stuck in the tree were an accident! They were already standing in the tree, and their butts just got stuck in the branches when they died.
I wonder how far this story will go as the news gets back to Konoha. One sword flashes, chilling the five great villages?
Higashino Makoto: It's not that outrageous. One day I'll unleash a sword that chills the ninja world and split the earth in two to show you ninjas what's what.
Fugaku Uchiha was also very happy. In the end, under his leadership, a complete victory was achieved against Kirigakure, and this achievement could never be erased.
Since joining the war, the price paid by the Uchiha clan and the sacrifices made by their members have now proven their worth.
As for the twists and turns that occurred in the final battle?
Orochimaru was, after all, the commander-in-chief of the Eastern Front and a disciple of the Hokage. It was only right that he showed up and make an appearance. Lord Fugaku had already let it go in his heart.
The rising star, Makoto Higashino? He's a promising talent, but he also devised a countermeasure. During the final attack on the Kirigakure command post, Fugaku reassigned the third squad to the outer perimeter for sensory surveillance.
Isn't that what sensory ninjas do?
The offensive was entirely led by the Uchiha clan, especially the genius of the same age, Uchiha Shisui, who charged into the Hidden Mist ninja group with ease, demonstrating strength beyond his years.
Therefore, against the backdrop of this great victory, a bizarre scene unfolded at the Konoha Eastern Front camp.
Someone was secretly promoting Higashino Makoto's strength and bravery, vividly depicting the battle to attack the Kirigakure stronghold.
That's how those distorted rumors become more and more outrageous as they spread.
Suzaku Nara said, "I don't know anything. It's just my comrades bragging because they're happy about the victory. There's nothing to be surprised about."
In response to this trend, the Uchiha clan began to promote Shisui's genius.
Suddenly, two young heroes appeared on the battlefield between Konoha and Kirigakure, both alive.
Ordinary Konoha ninjas didn't care about this undercurrent of conflict; they only knew that two more geniuses had emerged in Konoha, and that the village would become even stronger in the future.
Being a ninja is all about having fun.
Only the world where fog endures injury has been achieved.
Mist Ninja: Damn Konoha, you just wait, we're going to... we're going to go and beat up Sunagakure right now, and vent our anger properly.
