Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi

Chapter 72 Dad Forbids

East District, Black Olive Bar.

Inside a private stall in a public restroom, a drunken man was about to loosen his pants to relieve himself.

Suddenly feeling a heavy blow to the back of his neck, his eyes rolled back and he fell straight down. Kurt, who had used an invisibility potion, immediately sealed off the bathroom and began setting up a psychic ritual, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

"Which gang do you belong to?"

The man, somewhat bewildered, stared at the empty space ahead and said:

"Zmang Party"

"What crime did you commit?"

"They collected protection money, beat several homeless men to death, and sexually assaulted some women to death..."

Kurt frowned and interrupted:

"Alright, how many of your men are left in this bar? Who's the leader of this area?"

……

After asking all the questions he wanted to ask, Kurt found £1.50 in cash on the gangster and then sent him to his eternal sleep.

A tarot card, the "Lovers" card, appeared out of nowhere in the cubicle. It depicted an alternate version of Eden, Adam, Eve, and an angel with outstretched wings.

Kurt did this to connect the "Lovers" card with himself, so that he could make a big splash during the subsequent smog event and make the "Lovers" card one of his anchors.

He wasn't afraid of being exposed. Even if the authorities found out one day that he was the one who played the "Lovers" card every day, they would just consider it Kurt's personal hobby and would never associate it with the Tarot of the evil god "The Fool." They might even give him a reward...

I'm a genuine "chosen one," handpicked by the Mother Goddess. Although there are certain risks, I have to admit it's incredibly exhilarating. As long as I keep secretly doing good things, there won't be any problems.

Kurt had been testing the limits of the official Beyonders' tolerance for him lately, and finally discovered that as long as he didn't do anything wrong—whether it was "protecting" a wild Beyonder, secretly killing someone to obtain clues from unknown sources, or concealing details of operations and the origins of recipes and materials—they all turned a blind eye. Not to mention, the Mother Goddess responded to him in real time, although she hadn't spoken to him at all…

After interfering with the divination, Kurt used his pendulum to divine that there was no danger in the bar.

This proves that there are most likely no extraordinary individuals, and even if there are levels, they cannot affect him at all. Even if Kurt does not completely believe in divination, he cannot refrain from doing it just because there are risks.

After all, Kurt had fully absorbed the original owner's memories, or rather, the original owner was his amnesiac self. The things he'd done recently gave him a genuine sense of satisfaction. He wouldn't have had this ability or time back in modern society…

After replenishing his invisibility and scent-concealing potion, Kurt stealthily made his way to the second-floor corridor and discovered two guards standing outside a room, which must be where the leader of the place was located.

The two guards were staring ahead, bored, waiting for someone to come and relieve them so they could go find some girls to amuse themselves. Just then, their vision blurred, and they collapsed. Kurt, who had come to their side, gently helped them up and leaned them against the wall.

He just used a magic spell to vaporize the sleeping potion, which was then inhaled by the two guards... An ordinary person would be knocked out in an instant without even noticing.

After sprinkling invisibility potion to conceal the two people, Kurt used the same trick again, sending a sleeping potion into the room...

To be honest, the "divine gift" potion-making function is incredibly useful, its functionality is off the charts. Kurt guesses that this is a composite ability resulting from the combination of the "Crimson Scholar" and the "Biologist," with the "Biologist" providing the potion's power and the "Crimson Scholar" refining it into a potion...

Soon after, a body with its neck broken appeared in the room, along with a lover's plaque covering its head and a piece of white paper filled with the boss's crimes.

The last two words written on the white paper were bright red: "Deserves to be executed."

A safe inside the room was completely looted... When the others discovered this, the two guards at the door also foamed at the mouth and died from poisoning.

……

Outside the "Iris" ice cream shop, Coulter used the £105 he had just "snatched" to buy a strawberry sundae for £1.

They then took a horse-drawn carriage to the house the Kuhn family had rented in the Joewood district, which they heard was where they had lived before.

She knocked on the exquisite wooden door and found Lucy's older sister, Fran, opening it. The girl, about 18 years old, also had grey eyes and resembled her mother. She was dressed in a fairly decent outfit.

Fran, upon seeing that it was Kurt who had helped her family pull themselves out of the brink of collapse, quickly invited him into her home.

"Sorry, Mr. Kurt, Dad has gone out to the East End."

Kurt took the cup of black tea, looked at the exquisitely decorated interior, and couldn't help but frown.

Fran seemed to have anticipated this, saying:

"Mr. Kurt, please don't misunderstand. The landlord is a very nice man. He didn't kick us out before..."

At this point, Fran showed a somewhat helpless expression and continued:

"My father was very rigid on some issues, believing that we couldn't live there without paying, so he moved us into the East End, and then he got sick... I must thank you again for saving us!"

Looking at Francourt, whose eyes were filled with sincere gratitude, he took a sip of tea and said:

"So the landlord left these furniture pieces, waiting for you to come back?"

Kuhn seems to have a good reputation, but now it seems he's been a bit too stubborn... After all, he should have many friends he could ask for help, but he didn't ask to borrow money. He felt he could take everything back on his own. Kuhn does have that ability, but unfortunately he was cursed by the Aurora Society.

After this incident, he should have become more flexible. Is this what a truly respectable person is like? ...But just in case Fran is lying, I'll do a divination later to see.

Fran nodded. She was no longer as vulnerable and insecure in front of Kurt as before. With her stable life back, Fran's good upbringing naturally shone through. She no longer showed any timidity in front of Kurt, but rather gratitude and admiration.

"Is Mr. Kurt here to check the accounts? Dad probably won't be back until tonight, and Mom has found a new job and will be working until the evening too."

Kurt shook his head and smiled gently:

"I'm so glad you're back on track, Miss Fran. Didn't you go back to university?"

Fran looked slightly disappointed upon hearing this and said:

"I missed the application deadline. I'll have to wait until next year at the earliest, but I don't want to go to college, Mr. Kurt. I want to do something more meaningful..."

Under Kurt's somewhat puzzled gaze, Fran blushed slightly and then whispered a complaint about her father:

"I want to join your education foundation... but Dad won't allow it, saying it's like what Emperor Roselle called 'using connections'..."
