Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi

Chapter 7, Sequence 8: "The Teacher"

Finally, on July 1st, Kurt received the package from Miss Justice, along with a note printed on a typewriter.

"Please be mindful of privacy, sir."

Audrey originally wanted to say that people should be careful not to reveal personal information during the tarot reading, and that Mr. "The Lovers" and Mr. "The Hanged Man" looked somewhat dangerous, etc., but in the end, in order to keep the secret, she chose the simplest reminder, without any information about the tarot reading.

If I were skilled in divination, I could use this piece of paper to find the Earl of Hall's mansion... Kurt smiled. Audrey wasn't exactly a blank slate in the field of mysticism, but she was completely ignorant.

However, Kurt did feel warmed, so next time she should reveal more information she wants to know.

Then Kurt and Finks told them not to let anyone go up to the third floor.

"Even if Miss Lori suddenly returns?" Finks asked very seriously.

"...Except for her, of course, assuming she suddenly comes back."

Kurt smiled and went back to his bedroom, locked the door, and sprinkled spiritual powder.

The spiritual wall then completely sealed off the entire room.

Kurt opened the package, took out the two tin boxes inside, and gently placed them on the desk.

Upon opening the tin box, I saw the flowers of the Deep Dark Flower Whisperer and a complete pituitary gland of the Messenger lying quietly inside.

Kurt let out a long breath and curled the corners of his mouth. He remembered a joke from his past life: the only difference between the Tarot Club and the Beggars' Sect was that the Tarot Club had Audrey.

He then deftly set up a crucible and distillation equipment, added pure water, and ignited it for heating.

While the distillation was in progress, Kurt quickly set up a simple ritual to pray to himself and confirm the authenticity of the properties.

Although he trusted "justice," there's always an unexpected twist. If Audrey made a mistake, Kurt would be gone.

Only after receiving an affirmative answer did Kurt feel at ease enough to begin concocting the "Teacher's" potion.

His Sequence Nine "Clockmaker" extraordinary power was directly bestowed by "Infinite Collapse," so it's understandable that Kurt was a little nervous as this was his first time concocting a potion.

Carefully add 100ml of pure water to the crucible, and then add a piece of lapis lazuli about the size of your little finger.

The lapis lazuli sank quickly to the bottom of the potion without dissolving. Kurt, recalling the recipe, measured out 9 grams of black-edged sunflower powder and sprinkled it into the crucible.

Only then did the potion finally begin to take shape. The powder of the black-edged sunflower dissolved upon contact with water, turning the colorless water into a pale dark gold, and the lapis lazuli trembled slightly.

Kurt didn't stop. He then took three drops of violet juice and added them to the dark golden solution.

These few drops of violet juice could kill hundreds of curly-haired baboons, but now they're an auxiliary ingredient in a potion... Kurt sighed, lamenting that he would soon become a "monster."

The addition of the poison violet juice made the solution even darker, and then Kurt took out the flower of the Dark Whisperer and threw it into the crucible.

The originally incredibly tough Dark Flower Whisperer dissolved the moment it touched the liquid surface.

The lapis lazuli hissed and bubbled as it dissolved rapidly.

The "potion" turned blue and became viscous and opaque, with bubbles occasionally floating on its dark gold surface.

Kurt examined it for a moment and, not finding anything wrong, threw the complete pituitary gland of the transmitter into it as well.

As expected, some of the crystallized pituitary glands dissolved rapidly, giving the originally somewhat dull "potion" a pale blue glow.

Following the description in the original work, Kurt poured the Sequence 8 "Teacher" potion, which had become a single, non-sticky substance, into a pre-prepared glass.

Without further hesitation, Kurt tilted his head back and drank it down.

A cool, slightly bitter sensation slid down Kurt's throat.

Surprisingly, it tasted pretty good, like drinking cheap beer. Kurt muttered to himself.

Then Kurt sketched a circle in his mind, a "perfect circle" that did not exist in this world.

Almost simultaneously, his thoughts felt a powerful suction force, which was frantically pulling at his spirituality, as if trying to completely tear it apart.

However, Kurt had already fully absorbed the "Watchmaker" skill, so he easily withstood the pull and successfully advanced to Sequence Eight.

"This feeling is amazing..." Kurt clenched his fist, feeling the enhanced spirituality and extra abilities.

His physical flexibility has been further enhanced, especially in his fingers; his eloquence, observation, and logical abilities have also improved. His sense of time has become clearer, and he has also discovered that he can enter "bullet time" on his own.

It can freeze time at the level of consciousness, thereby indirectly improving reaction speed.

There are also two active abilities: "divination" and "teaching".

"Fortune telling? Why would a teacher do fortune telling, to predict students' misbehavior and stop them in advance?" Kurt chuckled as he hypothesized, then thought, "Or is this paving the way for future sequence abilities?"

As for the ability to be taught, it is somewhat like the "Hermit" path.

You can impart knowledge or skills to those who ask you for them, enabling a person to quickly acquire knowledge and skills.

Of course, this doesn't involve teaching "extraordinary" abilities yet, but Kurt guesses that later sequences will have this ability.

The specific effects still need to be summarized after experiments, but it's a pity that it can't be forcibly instilled, otherwise it would be a magical artifact.

If you directly pour all of Lord of Mysteries into the enemy, low-level enemies will probably go out of control and go berserk!

Taking this opportunity, Kurt learned the name of Sequence Seven, "The Painter," which reminded him of the special talisman he obtained by borrowing the power of the Source Matter "Infinite Collapse."

For example, the finishing touch spell can give things 2 to 3 "words". For instance, it can give air "hardness" and "plasticity", so you can "draw" an air sword at any time.

However, because the nature of air is not suitable for use as a sword, it consumes more spiritual energy compared to using tree branches or other items.

It seems I'll have some practical combat skills by Sequence 7.

Following that, Kurt also obtained the Sequence 8 "Mental Patient" potion recipe from the "Storyteller" pathway, and the Sequence 7 "Fate Weaver" potion name.

After his last prayer, he was pulled into a tarot session. When he returned to reality, the ritual had been disrupted because the information from the other channel was not that important to him.

So he's been putting it off until now.

Upon learning the term "mental patient," Kurt's lips twitched. He was glad he hadn't chosen this extraordinary path, otherwise his sister Lori would have actually dragged him into Backlund Asylum when he was playing the role!

"I wonder if there are any other people who have taken these two paths besides me?" Kurt inevitably thought of this question again.

These two pathways and the source material are clearly not present in the original work.

But I am a variable outside of variables.

Kurt sighed, feeling that he wouldn't be able to steadily advance to the level of a demigod.
