Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi
Chapter 59 The Hedonistic Faction
At the extraordinary gathering of the "Eye of Wisdom" gentleman, the lady, having anticipated the question from a member of the gathering, spoke up as if she had nothing to lose:
"One item is the 'Earthshaker Cane,' which will make you incredibly strong, allowing you to smash concrete floors and even predict the weather. It starts at £300, but the side effect is that the user's body hair will grow abnormally thick."
The farmer… Kurt frowned slightly but remained silent; it wouldn’t be of much use to him.
"The other item is the 'Agility Revolver.' Holding this revolver will enhance your agility and body coordination, accelerate bullets, and increase bullet power, allowing you to perform many difficult maneuvers. The side effect is that you can only draw the gun with your left hand, and once drawn, you must hold it in your hand for at least 15 minutes; releasing it will make you incredibly slow. Starting price: £500."
Assassin, or clown? This magical item piqued Kurt's interest. His current combat skills were quite poor, and this extraordinary item could probably make up for his weakness. However, upon further reflection, his Sequence 7 might enhance his combat abilities, so if he exchanged for this extraordinary item, it might overlap with his previous skills…
Kurt eventually gave up on the idea of exchanging the items, deciding to see what useful things she could come up with at a later gathering.
Finally, the "Earthshaker Cane" sold for £320, while the "Agile Revolver" sold for £600.
"Craftsmen make money, huh..." Kurt clicked his tongue slightly, then he saw the party fall into a brief silence after the lady asked about the "Barbarian" recipe again.
Seeing this, Kurt lowered his voice and said:
"I want to sell some talismans, with a shelf life of at least two years."
A surprised voice came from the crowd:
"Two years? You're not planning to sell us counterfeit goods, are you?"
Kurt shook his head helplessly and said:
"We can complete the transaction under the witness of the wise old man..."
The talismans he created based on his source material are basically permanently effective. Kurt went to great lengths to produce these "defective products" in order to reduce the probability of being targeted.
Hearing Kurt say that, the man snorted and continued:
"What kinds of talismans are available, and what are their prices?"
Kurt chuckled and said:
"The 'Sleep' charm can put extraordinary beings or ordinary people of Sequence 8 and below into a deep sleep, £2 each. 'Dream Enter' allows you to enter someone else's dream, £2 each. 'Purify' can purify some low-level spirits within a 50m radius, £2.10 soles. 'Illuminate' can summon a floating orb of light to bring warmth and light, £1.15 soles."
Kurt could actually do more, but to avoid being too outrageous, he only brought out some ordinary spells. Although their effects were not as good as the "original" ones, they were more than enough to be effective in low-sequence battles.
Another point that Kurt is particularly concerned about is that his source essence seems to be able to create any extraordinary system of talismans! Since Kurt is only at Sequence Eight, he cannot yet determine what authority his path holds, so he plans to investigate this matter later.
Because Kurt's charms had a long shelf life and could potentially save his life in a critical moment, they were all sold under the witness of the old man with the Eye of Wisdom. Kurt earned 60 pounds, or about 55 pounds after deducting the cost of materials. He now had 505 pounds, 3 soules, and 5 pence in cash.
Well, Leah still owes me 170 pounds, but given her personality, she should pay me back soon... and the other material for Sequence 7 will probably cost 600 pounds... but that can be exchanged for with merits at the church.
The thought of the terrifying expenses for promotions ahead gave Kurt a headache; he was slowly becoming poor!
However, I can sell the Sequence 7 potion recipe to the church. As for the suspicion that this will arouse, Kurt recently discovered that the church does not investigate too much about the chosen ones or about him. Even the Mother Goddess responds to him promptly... Kurt feels that he can be a little more audacious.
It's worth mentioning that the "Eye of Wisdom," Detective Isengard Stanton, also purchased four different talismans, saying he wanted to collect them. He probably wanted to study the principles behind these talismans, though of course he certainly wouldn't be able to figure anything out...
As each transaction was completed, Kurt remained silent, but instead of leaving, he began to pay attention to details and intelligence. In the end, he didn't hear anything useful, and the gathering gradually came to an end.
As the crowd gradually dispersed, Kurt was positioned to leave the party in the middle and headed back to the "Braveheart Bar" to completely evade any potential pursuit.
Soon after, Kurt, having shed most of his disguise, left the bar and returned to the East End. Checking his watch and finding it was still early, Kurt found an empty alley, took out Bly's hair, and began searching for Bly using the divination stick method.
He placed two of Blair's slightly yellowish hairs in his palm and pressed down on his cane.
As countless "perfect circles" converged in his mind, Kurt's mood quickly calmed down, and the dark red in his eyes deepened as he entered a state of "semi-meditation".
This was the first time Kurt had tried this method, and he could only feel his spirit becoming somewhat lighter. Kurt vaguely saw the omnipresent spirit world.
He began to silently recite "Bray's location" seven times. After that, Kurt slightly released his newly bought, rather plain cane. Sensing the direction it was falling, Kurt exited his semi-meditative state, walked a short distance in that direction, slowed down, and tried again...
Because Kurt guessed that Bly lived near Ironwater Street, he approached that area first before starting his search.
Just 20 minutes later, Kurt arrived at the somewhat dilapidated apartment building. Instead of rushing in, he found a nearby inexpensive family restaurant and ordered a dinner for 2 sous.
During the meal, he used a penny to confirm that Bly was in the apartment across the street, and after a divination, he concluded that the gang member was basically out of danger.
Kurt went to the washroom, found a fairly clean single room, and used dream divination to learn from Bly's hair that he lived in room 201.
Bryce looks like he's drunk and lying on a cheap sofa.
Kurt walked straight into the apartment building, went to number 201, took out a vial of medicine, and poured it onto the keyhole.
The colorless liquid seeped in, followed by a few hissing sounds, and then the lock opened automatically. Kutlake grabbed the doorknob, gently pushed it open a crack, and saw Blaise sleeping soundly.
He lay disheveled on the sofa, a bottle of liquor still clutched in his hand. Kurt quietly entered the room. Upon reaching Bly's side, he immediately took out a dream-entering talisman and infused it with spiritual energy.
He then leaned against the wall and entered his dream. After a moment of confusion, Kurt regained his senses and saw that in his dream, Bly was embracing a prostitute and about to commit an indecent act.
Kurt coughed, the prostitute disappeared, and looking at the somewhat bewildered Bly, Kurt said in a low voice:
"If you want to continue, answer the questions honestly."
In his dream, the slow-witted Blair paused for a while before nodding; he still wanted to continue playing with that young lady.
Have you ever killed anyone?
"I killed several children."
Kurt, suppressing his anger, continued:
"Why kill those children?"
In his dream, Blake's face showed a mixture of fear and excitement as he said:
"Some people bought some children from us, I heard that the purpose was to torture and kill them for fun. Those adults were very powerful. Some of the children were disobedient, and I was afraid of angering them, so I killed the noisy children on the way. They were also very interested in corpses."
Kurt's brow furrowed deeply. Torture and murder for pleasure, a formidable individual… a member of the Rose School's hedonistic faction? Bly actually has connections with them…
