Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi
Chapter 52
Inside a cheap rental house at No. 7, Phil Street, River Bend Avenue, South Bridge District.
Because Fors didn't come here often, the room was unusually cramped, with only one bedroom and cigarette butts and torn papers scattered on the floor.
Because after the last full moon, Fors was too lazy and really tired to clean.
Seeing the mess on the ground, Hugh seemed to see Fors struggling in pain. He was about to speak when Fors interrupted him.
Fors tossed her hair and smiled somewhat awkwardly:
"Sorry, the rent here is only 10 pence a week, so it will be very basic."
Kurt didn't feel anything. Before becoming a clockmaker, before he transmigrated, he was probably even lazier than Fors... The "clockmaker" path made him incredibly punctual and self-disciplined. Kurt couldn't say whether this was good or bad. He had no desire to slack off at all now. In today's terms, he would be considered to have an "innate physique of cattle and horses".
Seeing Hugh and Fors sit down on the somewhat dilapidated bed, Kurt pulled over the only wooden chair and casually crossed his legs.
Looking at the time, Kurt realized it was only 7 o'clock and casually asked:
"Miss Fors, at what time of day do your symptoms typically flare up?"
Fors squeezed the small hand that Hugh offered as a comforting gesture, and said in a tone that was both expectant and fearful:
"The babbling will start around 8:30 and continue until the next morning, though it will decrease in intensity in the latter half of the night."
Fors had probably already spoken to Miss Hugh, and a look of heartache flashed across Hugh's worried face.
"Ms. Fors is really suffering, almost 10 hours of torture..." Kurt clicked his tongue slightly.
"Okay, tell me when you feel it."
Then Kurt took out several specially made glass test tubes and a sterilized blood collection device wrapped in gauze, and smiled at Fors as he spoke:
"As I said before, activating this extraordinary ability requires blood, and you will have to bear that part yourself. I will provide you with blood-replenishing potions."
After a pause, Kurt explained:
"My blood donations to the church are on record, and I can't take too much, so I need your blood to replenish my supply. You have to give me 400ml of blood once a week."
Growing increasingly uneasy, Fors was about to ask if she couldn't apply to the church for help when she suddenly remembered that she seemed to be at risk of losing control and was supposedly already imprisoned at the bottom of the church... Mr. Kurt was probably keeping it from the church, perhaps because of Hugh or because he was one of those flexible members who helped her, or perhaps he entrusted us with something dangerous...
Finally, she nodded and took the equipment. Having worked as a caregiver for a while, she quickly determined that the blood collection device was brand new. She closed her eyes and drew about 400ml, filling four test tubes.
The reason for requiring 400ml is that Kurt remembers that in his previous life, he donated 400ml of blood at a time, which would not cause too much harm to the human body. Moreover, with the presence of blood-generating medicine, it would not have any adverse effects on Fors's body and might even make her healthier.
This way, Kurt could improve his meals from time to time... Of course, the main reason was to prevent the church from discovering my excessive use of "divine gifts" and thus attracting a possible investigation.
Another negative effect is that the eyes will turn red. Kurt has observed that the eyes have already turned dark red, which needs to be explained to Lori later. It can be pretended to be an unknown disease...
After receiving the blood from Fors, Kurt didn't rush to drink it. He had noticed during his digestion process that the transmission of extraordinary knowledge seemed to be processed even faster. So, like a teacher, he began:
"Although you should understand that you can't just give your blood to others, I still want to remind you, including Hugh."
"In the mysticism, blood is a highly directional substance, meaning that blood that hasn't undergone special treatment is strongly connected to you. Extraordinary individuals skilled in divination can use your blood to locate you and divine things about you, while extraordinary individuals skilled in curses can kill you from thousands of kilometers away with your blood, even causing white maggots or moths to grow in your veins..."
Fors shuddered at the description, longing to regain her warm blood. Hugh's expression also turned sour, mostly from surprise at the phrase "thousands of kilometers."
Having achieved his goal, Kurt added:
"Of course, a person's hair, flesh, and even commonly used objects can have similar effects. I must either drink the blood you give me on the spot, or I will take appropriate measures and will not let it leave my control."
The two ladies thanked Kurt and took out a small glass bottle containing pure water. They touched it with their left hand, and the medicine inside instantly had a blood-replenishing effect.
He tossed the small bottle directly to Fors, who was becoming increasingly restless, and smiled:
"This is a blood-replenishing medicine, it's free."
Fors took the small bottle, initially intending to put it away, but then she considered that this might make Mr. Kurt think she didn't trust him. However, Mr. Kurt's behavior over the past two days had shown that he was a good person and had no ill intentions towards her or Hugh... After much deliberation, Fors's somewhat sensitive thoughts prompted her to tentatively ask:
"Mr. Kurt, can I drink it tomorrow? My stomach is a little upset right now..."
Kurt nodded, his expression unchanged under the gaslight:
"Of course, that's your prerogative. Would you like me to prepare a medicine for your stomachache?"
Fors blushed and said somewhat awkwardly:
"Thank you for your kindness, I feel it will be fine on its own in a while."
Hugh was marveling at Mr. Kurt's extensive knowledge of the occult, while also wondering what path Kurt took to become an extraordinary being. He could make potions, was a formidable fighter, and could even conceal the effects of the moon... He needed blood to alleviate these effects. Could Mr. Kurt be a legendary vampire?
Hugh's friend Fors had actually made this guess, but after seeing Kurt basking in the sunlight, she gave up on the idea. She personally didn't really believe that vampires existed.
Even if such a person existed, they probably wouldn't be as afraid of garlic and holy water as the character in Russell's novel *The Kiss of Gustav*. And they likely wouldn't be as handsome as Kurt…
Seeing that he wouldn't begin his full-moon babbling for a while, Kurt decided to get straight to the point:
"I need some extraordinary materials. Do you have access to a gathering of extraordinary people? This could be considered a commission, which could offset the benefits of this full moon rambling."
Upon hearing this, Xiu was overjoyed and spoke first:
"We know of a party organized by a Mr. A..."
Fors nearly covered her forehead; the person opposite her was an official Extraordinary Being! She even had a premonition that Mr. A might be about to be captured…
