Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi
Chapter 5 Leah Kingston
After spending 2 soles, Kut arrived at his destination by horse-drawn carriage.
7 Christ Street, in an inconspicuous alley next door.
Find a secluded corner where there's a secret passage leading underground. Below is a shady bar; buy any drink there to proceed to the trading location.
Because he had been secretly buying materials here from Lori quite a few times over the past two months, Kurt put on a mask and made a simple disguise before easily arriving at the "market". He clenched his jaw and activated his spiritual vision.
The previously somewhat dark space suddenly became clearer, and most of the materials on the stalls radiated a spiritual light.
The entire underground "market" is only about the size of two basketball courts.
Over the next 30 minutes, Kurt pretended to be a mystic enthusiast and bought a lot of materials, spending £4 on black-edged sunflower powder and other Sequence 7 "Teacher" supplementary materials, as well as some spiritual materials and ritual daggers.
The biggest expense was gold, which was his favorite metal in his experiments with "Infinite Collapse," and talismans made of gold were more effective.
Kurt had explored almost the entire market but hadn't found anything that interested him. Just as he was about to go home, he bumped into an acquaintance, Leah Kingston—his classmate from Backlund University.
Lia smiled and walked towards Kurt. She didn't notice Kurt's disguise; she seemed simply happy. Two pretty dimples graced her fair, clean face. Combined with her tall, well-proportioned figure and long, jet-black hair, she gave off the impression of a kind, approachable, and somewhat naive beauty.
It was she who recommended this place to the original owner. The original owner, Kut, bought a strange ritual magic here, which claimed to grant one wish. The original owner was eager to go on an adventure to the Southern Continent, and lacked reverence for the mysterious...
Her father was also a senior manager at Backlund Bank, earning a hefty £3000 a year, but four years ago he and his son were transferred to the East Bayron branch in the South Continent. Leah stayed in Backlund with her mother. She had a great interest in the occult, was cheerful and somewhat naive, but very intelligent, with a keen sense of numbers and economics, and consistently ranked at the top of her class.
Beautiful but slow-witted, and with a penchant for the occult, she seems like she might be kidnapped by the Aurora Society... Kurt muttered to himself, deciding to take the initiative to strike up a conversation and maintain the relationship.
When Lydia walked to the side, Kurt called out in a low voice:
"Lia, it's been a long time."
Leah shuddered, took a deep breath, turned her head to look at Kurt, and said with a hint of reproach:
"Jack, you scared me to death!"
...Kut touched his forehead.
"Leah, Jack went to Trier last week. He probably wrote to you too. He probably won't be coming back. His father has a decent job there."
Kurt sighed:
"His personality is well-suited to the local atmosphere."
Leah realized she had mistaken someone for someone else, suppressed the urge to stick out her tongue, and quickly apologized awkwardly.
"Sorry, Kurt, you know Jack often plays pranks, and I'm still not used to life without his antics."
Kurt didn't pursue the matter further, and chuckled:
"You still miss the frog he put in your backpack, right?"
Leah's expression changed slightly, her dimples widened, and she deliberately put on a stern face, saying:
"Trier is indeed a good fit for him. I hope he finds his frog prince like in the fairy tale of Emperor Roselle."
"By the way, Kurt, what are you doing here?"
Leah raised her head slightly, her sweet dimples reappearing on her smooth face, and asked Kurt somewhat impatiently.
...You probably really want to share something with me, right? You didn't come here just to share, did you...? Kurt looked at the expectant and excited spiritual features on Leah's face, a slight twitch of his lips, and said with a smile:
"Buy some materials, what about you?"
Leah became excited and pulled Kut aside, saying mysteriously to him:
"Kurt, do you know anything about Extraordinary Beings?"
Extraordinary? How would Leah know about Extraordinary? Logically, such news shouldn't appear at this kind of market. Looking at Leah's excited expression… Kurt's expression turned serious, and he whispered:
"That's interesting. This isn't the place to talk. Let's find a quiet place to discuss this."
Seeing Kurt look around warily, he became somewhat excited:
"You know... Oh, okay."
She flicked a strand of hair, pretending to be nonchalant, and followed Kurt out of the 'market'.
So you really came here to share... Kurt almost facepalmed, but thinking about it, it's normal. It's quite normal for a well-protected, naive woman who yearns for the mystical to yearn for the extraordinary.
There was no sunset in Backlund today, and the thick fog reduced visibility on the streets to less than ten meters.
Kurt led Leah, who had been asking questions all the way, to a high-end coffee shop, ordered two coffees, and sat down in a quiet corner.
Leah repeated the previous question:
Do you know what an extraordinary person is?
Kurt didn't move, but squeezed his mouth shut and activated his spiritual vision, cautiously saying:
"I don't know, that sounds interesting."
Leah said excitedly:
"They are people with extraordinary powers, and I have met someone willing to help me become extraordinary!"
Kurt paused for a second. Perhaps it was due to the original owner of this body, but he had a natural affinity for Leah, so he adopted a particularly serious tone:
"This sounds dangerous, very likely some kind of evil ritual, what you went through."
Kurt emphasized the word "danger," implying that Leah should tell him the truth so he could handle the situation accordingly, whether by reporting it or trying to resolve it himself.
Leah was indeed startled; her expression darkened somewhat, but she still spoke:
"A few weeks ago I joined a club for people who are interested in the occult, but it was actually only a dozen or so people."
"Yesterday, a new member joined the club. He approached me privately and told me about the existence of Extraordinary Ones, and that he himself was one."
At this point, Leah revealed a somewhat longing expression:
He gave me a coin to hide in my hand, and he always guessed correctly; there was also a piece of paper that suddenly burst into flames in his hand.
"He can accurately judge my emotions and whether I'm lying, Kurt, that's so cool. He didn't say anything about the dangers of becoming an Extraordinary."
Vision and spiritual flames? Without mentioning the risks, it's definitely a cult. Kurt immediately became worried and pressed for details:
"You've become the extraordinary one he spoke of?"
Leah shook her head and said with some regret:
"The gentleman told me he was preparing a 'potion' and that it would have to wait until next Wednesday."
Kurt rubbed his forehead, looking somewhat exasperated, and said:
"You're not really going to drink that potion concocted by that guy of unknown origin, are you? Aren't you afraid you'll never wake up again after you drink it?"
"Beautiful lady, he may just be attracted to your beauty."
Leah seemed to pause for a moment, then stuck out her tongue as if suddenly realizing something, and said:
"It does seem like that's a possibility. Sorry, Kurt, I got a little too excited earlier."
Seeing that the sweet-looking but somewhat dazed Lia had regained some of her senses, Kurt thought, "If I had encountered something extraordinary before I time-traveled, I probably would have been excited for a long time too."
Then he excitedly shared it with his fiancée of 10 years, and enjoyed her helpless look... Thinking of this, Kurt's thoughts gradually sank.
"Lia, I suggest you call the police immediately! Tell them exactly what you said and let them catch that guy who calls himself an 'Extraordinary One'."
Kurt took a sip of his Southwell coffee and continued:
"You believe in the goddess of night, don't you? You should go to church right now to repent for your actions."
Leah looked at Kurt with some confusion, her dimples disappearing, and asked with dissatisfaction:
"Thank you for your concern, but why should I repent? I haven't violated any doctrines!"
"I'm afraid you'll be given a hint..." Kurt muttered to himself, then chuckled softly.
"You almost caused a beautiful lady to fall into the abyss, a respectable gentleman to lose an important friend, and a family to lose an innocent girl."
Leah was momentarily speechless. She opened her mouth, but the rational blue light finally returned to her mind, and she could only utter:
"Kurt, your speaking skills have improved. I hate to admit it, but I'll go."
After finishing his coffee, Kurt followed Leah out and then said goodbye to her.
"Goodbye, Leah. I am a follower of Mother Earth, so I won't go with you. But you'd better call the police quickly and don't let that bad guy get away, otherwise he doesn't know how many more girls he will harm."
"Oh, and when you get home from your confession at church, please give my regards to Ms. Lucy. I'll visit you later."
Leah flashed two more dimples and waved goodbye gratefully.
"Thank you, Kurt, goodbye!"
Lia's house isn't far from here, and the Church of the Night is quite safe at night. Kurt shouldn't go with her; it wouldn't be good if a high-sequence powerhouse noticed his extraordinary path.
