Lord of Mysteries: Taiyi

Chapter 38 Russell's Diary

Backlund, Joewood district, Rose Street, deep within the Harvest Church.

Kurt didn't deliberately inquire about how Melanie developed her "sunbathing" habit. After looking around and not seeing Walker, he casually asked:

"Teacher, what is your financial situation like?"

"Don't get me wrong, I'm just recommending a suitable address for you in preparation for tomorrow's operation."

Melanie tidied up the various utensils on the table, put on her baseball cap, and said reminiscingly:

"The money I brought this time is about £500... Of course, I don't want to buy a house. This money is probably enough for me to rent a place. I also have a weekly wage of £12."

Kurt nodded affirmatively and said:

"Then you can probably afford rent in all areas except Queens, where there are very few rental properties."

Or buy a Susie dress outright... oh no, I probably can't afford that now... Kurt sighed silently.

After confirming the direction, Kurt remembered his training in hand-to-hand combat and shooting, as he already knew that his combat training was also part of the task assigned to the vampire before him.

After expressing her doubts, Melanie explained:

"You can start anytime. We haven't established a 'Wastelanders' squad in Backlund, so it depends on when you want to learn, but the daily learning time will probably increase by 1 to 2 hours."

Kut nodded, realizing he'd been too busy lately, and decided to wait until the "Teacher" potion had been mostly digested before starting. That way, if the "Painter" potion had the effect of enhancing combat abilities, he could achieve twice the result with half the effort...

After finishing his language studies, Kurt returned to the church and chatted with Mrs. Salitz and Carter for a while before going home.

……

The Kurt family home, located at the border of Queens and the West End.

In the bedroom on the third floor, Kurt sat in a chair, writing on scrap paper the diary he planned to give to Klein that day. His watch shop would be closed today and every Monday thereafter, and the entire bedroom was sealed off by a spiritual wall...

Somewhere in the Sunya Sea, an old sailing ship is drifting on the sea.

Alger Wilson locked himself in the captain's cabin, giving the ghost ship the highest level of protection, and stared intently at the pocket watch next to the brass sextant...

Backlund, Queens.

Audrey Hall leaned against the velvet pillows, a slowly swirling, spiritual vortex seemingly appearing in her eyes. She remained a spectator, glancing once more at the yellowed, brown paper in her hands…

After burning the draft he had completed, Kurt stared at the hour, minute, and second hands of the high-end watch on his wrist, which finally converged, and a deep red light burst forth from his body without warning.

He returned to the gray fog once more and saw "The Fool" Klein, hidden behind the fog at the very top, "The Hanged Man" Alger beside him, and "Justice" Audrey diagonally above.

Klein had activated his spiritual vision long before the party started and deliberately avoided Kurt's celestial body. He observed that the color deep within the "Hanged Man's" aura had become much purer... guessing that Mr. Hanged Man had been promoted. At this moment, he noticed the symbol on the chair behind him again.

Klein has now learned some basic occult knowledge and roughly recognizes that it is a symbol of "storm".

It seems that Mr. "The Hanged Man" is probably a "sailor"... an extraordinary being of the "Sea-Cherish" path, which matches the symbol behind him.

Audrey then rose, lifted her skirt slightly, and said to Mr. Fool:

Good afternoon, Mr. Fool.

Afterwards, he repeated the actions and greeted the other members of the Tarot Club.

During this period, Klein took the opportunity to look at Miss Justice's chair and discovered that the symbols on it formed a symbol of a "dragon".

Klein resisted the urge to frown.

Behind the "Lover" sign, well, there's a... Möbius strip, with a star-like dot in the center radiating outwards with twisting lines. The entire pattern is surrounded by four pillars, forming a rhombus...

Klein's existing knowledge was not enough to help him recognize what it symbolized. With the little knowledge he had in his previous life, he could roughly guess that the Möbius strip represented infinity and cycles, and the four pillars represented the foundation.

Then, Klein accepted the greetings from the Tarot Club members, nodded slightly, and asked with a smile:

"Madam, and gentlemen, have you found Russell's diary?"

Audrey tried to "play" the role of an audience member, scrutinizing the two gentlemen opposite her. "The Hanged Man," Alger, unconsciously composed himself upon seeing Miss Justice looking over, and said in a deep voice:

"I found two pages of Emperor Roselle's diary and wrote them down."

Being stared at by the audience really doesn't feel good... Kurt clicked his tongue inwardly and said calmly:

"I've collected 6 pages, but I can only memorize 3 pages so far."

Even if I don't understand Chinese, I could still memorize at least 6 pages with the help of the "Teacher" potion. The reason I only gave 3 pages is because too much of the content is not very useful to Klein's current level, and some of it is even harmful!

Therefore, in order to ensure the "sustainability" of the Russell Diary forgery, Kurt planned to compile it slowly, deliberately, and with quality. As for emphasizing that he had six pages, it was only to establish his persona and to repay the boast he made last time.

"Justice" Audrey's eyes flickered slightly when she heard that "Lover" had found so many diaries, and she almost snapped out of "viewer mode." A little embarrassed, she said:

"I only found one page."

Alger glanced at "Lover" again without showing any emotion, a slight tremor running through his heart. Collecting six pages in just one week indicated he had extensive connections, or perhaps he had been collecting them beforehand…

Klein suppressed his inner joy and said with a slight smile:

"Very good."

Especially Mr. "lover," who can consistently produce another 3 pages even at the next gathering...

After he signaled the three members to begin materializing, he saw pens and paper materialize in front of them, and they began to "write" quickly.

In less than a minute, all three members had finished making the rubbings. Mr. "Lover" wrote very quickly...

At that moment, Klein had a sudden thought, and all six pages of parchment appeared in his hand. He glanced through them and found that there were many typos, omissions, and reversed order. Also, Emperor Roselle's handwriting was terrible, like chicken claws, crooked and messy.

"Lover" wrote the neatest handwriting, though it was still quite ugly... Klein silently gave "Lover" a little red flower for this occasion.

"On April 8th, I stood aboard the 'Black Throne' with my arms outstretched..."

The first diary entry recounts how Emperor Roselle once sailed to the Misty Sea, where he discovered strange monsters, and Grimm was suspected of being infected...

After making his decision, Klein went to the library to look up information... Then he put the diary page at the bottom and quickly started reading the second page.

At this moment, he made no attempt to conceal his knowledge of the secret symbols of Emperor Roselle, which was in line with his current "Fool" persona.

The members of the Tarot Club were not surprised at all; they felt no astonishment whatsoever, and even thought this was normal...

"On October 2nd, without even consulting me beforehand, they decided to make me engaged to Matilda from the Abel family. I haven't even met her yet. No, I must refuse! Even if it means running away from home, even if it means enduring all kinds of oppression and having to fend for myself, I will resist this arranged marriage!!!"

"Miss Matilda looks so beautiful on October 5th."

"On October 6th, everything about her suited my taste, and I began to look forward to our marriage."

"Hey, Your Majesty, where's your integrity?" Klein thought to himself.

The last line of this diary entry also contains a string of Chinese characters.

"On October 9th, they actually called me the Son of Steam, and I liked it very much."

Klein left the three pages that were most comfortable to look at, handed over by his "lover," and finally picked up the diary with two pages filled with writing and began to read.

This diary entry states that Russell chose to become a "generalist" and gained a basic understanding of role-playing.

Klein, reflecting on how completely different his approach to things was from that of the Emperor, finally turned to the last three pages.
