Chapter 266 Epilogue (Part 1)

1994, Fuyuki City.

The fourth, and perhaps the last, Holy Grail War.

It came to an end in a way that no one expected.

Although the process was thrilling, the city suffered considerable damage, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

But for the original timeline, this is already the best possible ending.

As one of the reasons for the subsequent unrest, Kirei Kotomine was arrested by the Church of England, and Risei Kotomine, as the derelict supervisor, was also sentenced.

The two were tried by the church on charges of colluding with magicians, violating the neutrality oversight agreement, and blasphemy.

Not only was he stripped of his church membership, but he was also imprisoned in the church's large prison.

What awaits them is either endless imprisonment or even more cruel punishment.

The Tohsaka family, having repented and stopped the situation from escalating, were exempted from prosecution by the Mage's Association.

The disasters caused by this Holy Grail War have severely damaged the secrecy of magic.

Even though the Magic Association and the Church disliked each other, they worked together to cover up such a huge mistake as an accident, explosion, or natural disaster.

The city hall was busy working to cover up the news, and the spiritual veins of Fuyuki City gradually returned to normal.

Those who survived began a new life.

Einzbern Castle, Germany.

The wind and snow continued to howl, but the castle felt especially warm because of the lit fireplace and the cozy atmosphere inside.

"Dad! Higher! Higher!"

The silver-haired, red-eyed little girl, Illya, was riding on Kiritsugu Emiya's shoulders, shouting excitedly.

Kiritsugu Emiya, once known as the "Magician Killer," was now acting like an ordinary, silly father, pacing around the living room and making his daughter giggle.

Irisviel sat on the sofa by the fireplace, a blanket over her knees, watching the scene with a smile.

Her body has become increasingly weak due to the loss of the Greater Grail's connection, and her lifespan may be running out.

But she survived.

She survived as Irisviel von Einzbern, not as a vessel.

"Kiritsugu."

She called softly.

Kiritsugu stopped, put Illya down, walked to his wife's side, and took her hand.

"What's wrong, Alice?"

"Let's...live here from now on." Irisviel leaned against him, watching the snow falling outside the window. "Let's forget about saving the world...just like now, let's live like this forever, okay?"

Kiritsugu was silent for a moment, then nodded vigorously.

"Ah...it's right here."

He kissed his wife's forehead, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"Protecting you is my way of doing justice."

London, on the banks of the Thames.

In a dimly lit examination room, Kenneth Elmero Archibald stared blankly out the window.

He had a thick blanket covering his legs, and even in the well-heated room, he felt a bone-chilling cold.

"Teacher, here's today's medicine."

Weber pushed the cart in, speaking very softly.

Kenneth did not turn around.

His once dazzling, golden figure is now hunched over in a wheelchair.

Because of that Origin Bullet, most of his magic circuits were burned out, and he could no longer even maintain his Mystic Code.

Those meridians that once flowed with noble magic are now just a pile of waste dregs curled up inside the body.

But what made him feel even more desperate was the ring finger on his left hand, where he wore his wedding ring.

"Has she... not been found yet?" Kenneth asked hoarsely.

Weber remained silent for a long time before whispering, "Teacher... Mrs. Sora's remains have been transported back to the family cemetery in London."

"After all, that was the King of Heroes' berserk attack; the entire Fuyuki Bridge was destroyed..."

'

"The Mage's Association's cleanup team... only managed to collect a portion of the fragments."

"Fragments..."

""

Kenneth murmured, tears silently streaming down his face.

He slapped his numb legs violently, then laughed and cried at himself in a self-deprecating way.

"...I thought I was a chosen one...I took her to Fuyuki to win that damn trophy as a wedding gift! And what happened?"

"My body is ruined, my reputation is destroyed, and even my lover died at someone else's hands!"

"That damned archer, he didn't even leave her a proper corpse!"

Weber stood there, letting Kenneth's spittle fly all over his face.

He had stolen his teacher's sacred relic in anger and impulsiveness, and therefore felt very guilty about Kenneth's injury, taking care of him every day.

If it were Rider, what would he say...?

"Teacher, please cheer up."

But those once timid eyes now shone with a resolute light: "The El-Melloi classroom is in chaos, and other families are eyeing your achievements! If you fall, the Archibald family is truly finished."

"What do you know! You third-rate thief!" Kenneth violently swept the medicine bottle away, the sound of shattering glass particularly jarring.

Weber silently crouched down, picking up the fragments one by one, his tone surprisingly calm: "I don't understand... but I've seen that... that conqueror Iskandar."

"He told me that since we are born as human beings, we should live life to the fullest."

Even if it all comes to nothing in the end, we must stand tall and face destruction!

"Teacher, you are the monarch. Even though the magic circuit is broken... if you just rot away in your wheelchair like this, it would be the greatest insult to the Archibald family."

Kenneth was stunned.

He looked at this student he had once looked down upon, as if he saw the towering phantom of a giant behind him.

After a long while, Kenneth closed his eyes, tears soaking his eyelashes.

"...Go and get that book, 'An Introduction to the Fundamentals of Magic.' Since I'm useless, you'll be the one to record my dictation."

"Yes, teacher."

Weber smiled and bowed deeply.

He knew that the proud monarch was not dead, but was just unable to move on for the time being.

And he, Weber Velvet, will be the most steadfast cane for this disabled monarch until the day he can stand up again.

"Rin, didn't I tell you? Magic circuits need to operate with more precision, don't act like a brute..."

Tokiomi Tohsaka's slightly stern voice came from the study.

After experiencing that dream, his mindset underwent a tremendous change.

He stopped clinging to that vague and illusory root cause and began to cherish his family even more.

"I know, Dad, you're too nagging!"

Rin Tohsaka grumbled unhappily, fiddling with a few rubies in her hand. Although she complained, her eyes were unusually serious.

Ever since that night, when I witnessed my father's heroic figure, and even his willingness to sacrifice his own life to dismantle the Greater Grail.

Rin's adoration for her father reached its peak in this life.

She finally understood that the elegance her father spoke of was not just about outward appearance, but also about a noble spirit that never abandons responsibility even in dire straits.

"well...."

Tokiomi looked at his daughter's defiant expression and shook his head helplessly, but his eyes were full of satisfaction.

"Let's go to the amusement park this afternoon," Tokiomi suddenly said.

"?" Rin froze, the gem in her hand falling onto the table. "An amusement park? Dad, are you serious?"

"Um."

Tokiomi coughed somewhat awkwardly.

That afternoon, a strange scene unfolded at the amusement park in Fuyuki City.

Two middle-aged men, dressed in formal attire and looking out of place, stood awkwardly beside the carousel, holding ice cream and balloons in their hands.
