Chapter 30 Three Methods of Severing the Dao: Severing Thoughts, Severing the Dao Heart, Severing the Dao Path

"Today, I will take this opportunity to reveal this method of attaining enlightenment, so that all of you fellow Daoists may rely on this method to improve your cultivation and thus contend with Luo Lian."

"What!" Upon hearing this, Hongjun Ancestor and the others were immediately startled, then stunned. Although they knew that Di Qing was extremely intelligent and that creating cultivation methods was as simple as drinking water for him.

"The first of the Three Methods of Severing the Dao that I created is the Method of Severing Thoughts. The core of this method is to eradicate all distracting thoughts from our souls and minds..."

"You must understand, from the moment we cultivators are born and take human form, we are constantly thinking. Then, with thinking, we accept knowledge, we understand the primordial world, and with that knowledge, we make friends with fellow cultivators and comprehend the Great Dao..."

"The more knowledge we cultivators gain, the more cultivation methods we acquire, and the more Great Daos we comprehend, the more we grow. But as we grow, our inner selves are no longer as pure as when we were first born."

"Simply put, the more we grow, the more distracting thoughts we accumulate. Ultimately, our minds become filled with evil thoughts, good thoughts, obsessions, desires, murderous thoughts... The intertwining of countless distracting thoughts makes our souls impure and obscures our Dao heart."

"Therefore, I created the method of severing thoughts. It cuts away the distracting thoughts in one's soul and the defilement in one's mind, thereby purifying one's soul and the Dao heart, and then condensing a pure and innocent Dao heart."

Those who attain the "Innocent Heart of Dao" can connect with heaven and earth through their hearts, communicate with all things in heaven and earth through their hearts, and better comprehend the universe.

"On this earth, one can better comprehend the Great Dao..."

The many cultivators listened intently, falling silent as their eyes gradually brightened. As Di Qing explained, they gradually grasped the core of the Severing Thoughts Technique and the benefits of purifying their own souls.

At this moment, Di Qing continued, "After mastering the method of severing thoughts, one can eliminate all distracting thoughts and purify one's Dao heart. These distracting thoughts, along with the impurities of the soul that have been severed, can merge with innate spiritual treasures or other innate objects to evolve into an incarnation."

"Severing Thoughts, what a magnificent method of severing thoughts! Fellow Daoist Di Qing's method of severing thoughts truly deserves our admiration. Cultivating this method..."

By eliminating all distracting thoughts that hinder our cultivation, we can purify our Daoist heart, accelerate our enlightenment, and naturally, our cultivation will improve rapidly.

"However, what use is the avatar that evolves from this impure thought of severing, along with the impurities in the soul? After all, can such a filthy avatar be integrated into oneself in the future?"

"Luo Lianyin's method of attaining the Dao, though centered on severing avatars, primarily serves as a special resource. When we need to prove the Dao or break through, these avatars transform into nourishment, thereby helping our cultivation undergo a qualitative change."

"How can the manifestations of our distracting thoughts, filled with impurities, become nourishment on our path to enlightenment?"

As the ancestors like Hongjun pondered, they instantly sensed the advantages and disadvantages of the Severing Thoughts Method, one of the Three Methods of Severing the Dao created by Di Qing.

While this method of severing distracting thoughts is effective, at best it purifies the soul and accelerates the speed of enlightenment. It cannot significantly improve a cultivator's cultivation level and strength in a short period. Furthermore, they dare not allow these manifestations of distracting thoughts to re-enter their bodies.

Di Qing naturally understood this principle and immediately said, "...Just as Fellow Daoist Hongjun said, the impure thoughts cut out by the Severing Thoughts Method, and the incarnations that evolve from them, are difficult to become the nourishment we need to achieve the Dao in the future. That is why there are the two methods after the three methods of severing the Dao."

"After severing all thoughts, the Dao heart is pure. Next, one must cultivate one of the three methods of severing the Dao—the Dao-Severing Method! And the core of the Dao-Severing Method is to sever the Great Dao."

"I imagine that on your cultivation journey, fellow Daoists not only comprehend the Great Dao you cultivate, but also other Great Daos. Or perhaps you discuss the Dao with others, comprehend their Great Daos, and experience their paths. In this process of comprehension, you may feel that others' understanding of the Great Dao is correct, or that their Great Dao is better than your own. You may even feel that your own path is inferior to others'."

"Leaving aside distant examples, take the current Luo Lian, for instance, who uses the flesh and blood of all living beings to reverse chaos and achieve his own chaotic demonic body. Doesn't this method seem appealing to many fellow cultivators, perhaps even inspiring a sense of longing?"

"This, this..." Many elders, upon hearing this, were slightly embarrassed and bitter: "To be honest, Fellow Daoist Di Qing, we are all..."

"I really do think that way in the future. I feel that the path Luo Lian cultivates is more profound than ours. I even feel a longing for it."

In the primordial world, all living beings sought the Great Dao and the path to enlightenment.

Many cultivators naturally admire Luo Lian, whose cultivation level is at the half-step Hunyuan stage and who is currently the closest to achieving Dao. Therefore, Luo Lian's path to Dao and his path to enlightenment have also garnered much recognition and longing.
