Chapter 73 The Path to an Audience

Chapter 73 The Path to an Audience

The tranquility of the snowfield was shattered by the biting cold wind.

Looking around, Rhodes saw groups of monsters called Dragon Servants gathering around the outskirts of the village.

They roared in unpleasant voices, baring their teeth and claws as they charged toward the village, wave after wave like a tidal wave.

But Rod quickly relaxed.

Despite their large numbers, their strength is surprisingly weak, contrary to their ferocious appearance.

It hasn't even reached the first level yet.

Female soldiers rushed to the outside of the village, took up positions, and stood ready for battle.

As the dragon servants approached, they brandished their greatswords, axes, and other weapons.

With a deafening roar as the air was torn apart, it mercilessly ripped the enemy to shreds.

The three sisters, in particular, moved nimbly and gracefully among the dragon servants, their movements effortless.

Of the three, Sanxue stands out the most.

Each swing of the battle axe unleashed a dazzling shockwave that swept across the entire battlefield, engulfing countless dragon servants within it.

The efficiency of clearing out enemies by a single person was higher than that of four or five people combined, which drew praise from the people behind the village.

Half an hour later, the battlefield situation outside the village calmed down.

Leaving behind the remains of the dragon servants scattered on the ground, the female warriors returned to the village.

When she returned, Miyuki's gaze fell on Rhodes.

Upon spotting him, a happy smile spread across her energetic face, and she quickly jogged over.

"You've come!" Sanxue said somewhat shyly, hiding her battle axe behind her back.

Rod smiled and nodded.

After thinking for a moment, I reached out and straightened her disheveled collar.

During this process, Sanxue couldn't help but lower her head, her face becoming even rosier.

She looked up in confusion after hearing a few coughs, and her expression turned to surprise when she looked to the side.

"Ah! Granny Village Chief, you're here too! I'm sorry, I didn't notice you."

Upon seeing the old woman beside her, Sanxue was startled and quickly apologized, feeling embarrassed.

"You should change this bad habit of yours. When you're focused, you ignore everyone else around you. That's not good."

The old woman shook her head helplessly as she spoke.

But soon, the look in his eyes as he gazed at Sanxue turned kind and satisfied.

"Your performance just now was excellent. Your bravery surpasses that of everyone else in the village, making you qualified to represent the village in the royal capital to meet the newborn princess."

Hearing the village chief's words of approval, Sanxue's expression became even happier.

The other female warriors around looked over, their faces filled with envy.

Especially when they noticed the handsome man next to Sanxue.

The stark contrast in treatment felt like an arrow had pierced their hearts.

Feeling distressed and unwilling, he puffed out his cheeks, put down his weapon, and squatted on the ground.

However, a few of the female warriors were different; they seemed to remember something.

His gaze shifted back and forth between Sanxue and Luo De, his expression strange.

At this moment, Da Xue and Er Xue, the three sisters, also arrived and gathered around San Xue.

After hearing what the village chief said, Erxue's eyes lit up, and she immediately clapped and cheered.

"That's great! After Sanxue went to the royal city, my eldest sister can't beat me anymore, so no one can take things from me anymore! Awesome!"

Before Erxue could be happy for long, Daxue slapped her on the head in anger.

Da Xue angrily scolded, "Are you stupid! If San Xue leaves, we'll never see her again. Doesn't that mean we've lost the most important thing?"

After hearing her eldest sister's words, Erxue was stunned for a moment, her expression immediately fell, and she pouted sadly, saying:

"Oh right, Sanxue, can you not go? Why don't you go to the royal city instead, big sister? Anyway, you can't beat us anyway, so you won't have to worry about being robbed if you go alone."

Seeing that his older sister was in a bad mood, he even tried to slap his own head.

Realizing she had said the wrong thing again, Erxue quickly took a step back and covered her head with her hands.

"I'm sorry, please don't hit me. I've got a great idea, let's go together!"

Erxue's head seemed to be filled with excitement as she spoke.

The village chief's wife glanced at her and tapped the ground heavily with her cane.

She said solemnly, "To meet the princess and participate in the tournament of the guardian knights is a sacred and solemn ceremony of honor. One must first traverse the icy path alone and reach the royal city by one's own strength, without accepting help from others!"

"Moreover, the threat of the dragon servants is imminent. What will happen to the village if you all leave?"

At that moment, the three sisters' expressions all darkened.

Thinking about how she was about to part ways with the villagers, Miyuki unconsciously put down her battle axe and found herself suddenly not so happy.

Rod looked at Sanxue and could sense the pain in her heart.

Although the three sisters used to fight all the time.

But after this period of close contact, Rod realized that they actually had a very good relationship.

Da Xue is the weakest, but she plays the role of a parent in daily life. As long as it doesn't involve taking things, she is usually very authoritative.

Erxue is a bit stubborn and seems a bit silly, but she's always there for you the moment you need her.

Miyuki, as the youngest sister, is the strongest, but she is gentle and shy, and relies heavily on her two older sisters in daily life.

Seeing that Sanxue was pursing her lips, trying hard not to cry.

Rod moved closer to her and touched her head.

Her long, flaxen hair was flowing and smooth, and felt very comfortable to the touch.

Sanxue did not resist and even moved closer to him.

Rod smiled and began to stroke her head, gradually calming her down.

"The path to an audience must be walked alone."

The village chief's mother looked this way, her face wrinkled, and emphasized again.

She noticed that Sanxue looked confused and knew that the silly girl had relapsed into her old ways and started ignoring everyone around her.

The village chief looked at Rod with an unfriendly gaze.

Hopefully, he'll be sensible and stay away from Sanxue.

Rod pretended not to understand and continued to stroke Miyuki's head.

She blinked and looked innocently into the eyes of the village chief's mother.

Seeing that the atmosphere was getting a bit awkward, the dwarf blacksmith next to him scratched his head helplessly and quickly squeezed between the two.

"Village Chief, I suddenly remembered a few questions concerning the forging of the Guardian Armor, and I need to confirm them with you."

The dwarf blacksmith chuckled and said, "If you have some free time now, could you come with me to the blacksmith's shop?"

The village chief tapped the ground with her cane in displeasure, scrutinizing Rod with a critical look.

He then turned and left, warning, "The end of White Frost is coming. If we cannot stop that being's awakening, the world will end!"

"Outsider, I do not know your purpose in coming here, but please remember one thing: do not obstruct the warrior's path to audience. It is the only means of salvation prophesied to prevent the end of the world."

After saying this, the village chief's wife followed the dwarf blacksmith away.

Erxue looked over enviously, seemingly wanting to get closer, but Daxue slapped her on the head again and forcibly dragged her away.

Rod stopped stroking her and looked down at Sanxue, seeing the struggle and confusion on her face.

This also made an idea slowly form in Rhodes' mind.
