Chapter 40 Stainless Steel Armor

Chapter 40 Stainless Steel Armor

After resolving the issue of purchasing supplies for his territory, Rhodes finally had time to consider his own equipment.

Both his and Noah's armor were damaged and needed to be replaced.

"White Steel Armor." Rhode flipped through the merchant guild's armor list, turning to the description of the knight-level equipment.

I was speechless when I saw the price listed later.

A set costs 40 gold coins, which is ten times the price of cavalry armor, and this is the cheapest starting price.

Stainless steel is a special type of steel that is made by incorporating mithril into steel and then using a unique metallurgical process.

Specifically designed for forging extraordinary equipment.

The techniques for smelting and processing stainless steel are beyond the reach of humans; they are unique to dwarves.

This world is not only inhabited by humans. In Ironforge, which was conquered by William thirty years ago, to the east of the Duchy of Northfrost, there lives a group of mountain dwarves.

Deep in the North, there exists a royal court entirely ruled by dwarves, mysterious and powerful.

In Rhodes's memory, the Dwarven Royal Court had two famous specialties—white steel and strong liquor.

It sells like hotcakes in the North; no one can resist the allure of these two products.

After Ironforge was incorporated into the kingdom, the Kingdom of Rosa also acquired many weapons and equipment made of white steel, but this did not diminish their immense value.

Although it's a Tier 1 Knight-level equipment, it's not suitable for someone who isn't from a noble family.

Only a small fraction of elite knights and Extreme Knights are usually qualified to possess it.

This is also where the true strength of the Extreme Knight lies.

Once equipped with a full set of knight-level gear, ordinary arrows and spears would have difficulty penetrating its defenses.

With the charge of their warhorses, the Extreme Knights can easily cut through armies. As long as they can maintain their mobility, even a thousand-strong army cannot defeat them.

If the army's morale is dampened and its formation collapses in fear, what follows will be a complete massacre by the enemy.

But all of this is predicated on the fact that it was just a small, insignificant army.

If it were replaced by the elite Rosa Shield and Spear Formation, less than a hundred men would be enough to prevent the Extreme Knights' charge from breaking through the formation.

If the operation is thwarted, it will be surrounded and annihilated.

At that point, they will only be exhausted and captured alive.

The above is an ideal scenario. In a real battlefield, no Extreme Knight would be crazy enough to charge into a large army alone.

They were often followed by cavalry legions.

With cavalry and infantry cooperating in large numbers, the decisive factor on the battlefield is the army formation.

The 60 gold coins his father gave him were roughly enough for a complete set of knight-level armor, plus the weapons and equipment for two knight squires.

Rhodes thought to himself that he could still afford the 10 gold coins for travel expenses.

If he chooses to join the royal Griffin Knights, he will likely be assigned to a safe outer area based on blood ties.

With a full set of Knight-level gear, the enemy couldn't even break through his defenses.

Even if you just blindfold yourself and hack away, you can still take down several barbarian soldiers.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the life he wanted. Rhodes shook his head and looked away from the white steel armor.

His money has more important uses, and he can't afford this for the time being.

So, using the old method, Rhodes purchased two sets of cavalry armor and a piece of white steel armor plate from the merchant guild.

He picked up the palm-sized piece of nail and examined it in the sunlight.

The surface of the armor plate has a silvery-gray metallic sheen.

I'll go back and study it carefully. I can only feel at ease if I master this core technology myself.

River Mouth Town, in the Lord's Castle.

The midday sun shone through the window, turning into a golden veil that draped over the girl.

Ten-year-old Lucia stopped in her tracks, stood by the window, and gently tiptoed.

Looking down from the castle, she saw a caravan of carriages approaching on the main road of the town.

Lucia’s gaze was fixed on a flock of wool sheep behind the carriage.

It was white and soft, reminding her of the clouds in the sky.

When she noticed that one of the wool sheep had opened its mouth, Lucia couldn't help but open her own little mouth and make a cute sound.

"Huh?"

Bang! Suddenly, the sound of the wooden plate slamming hard onto the ground rang out.

The plate bounced up and hit her arm, instantly causing a large red swelling.

Lucia's body trembled slightly. The pain in her arm made her stiffen and afraid to move, lest she accidentally shed tears.

"I told you to bring the plate over here, what are you doing!"

After those damned maids ran away, Flynn could no longer suppress her anger when she saw that her daughter dared to ignore her.

Flynn walked over and forcefully pressed her daughter against the window, staring at her face with jealousy and hatred.

Lucia pursed her lips and closed her eyes, knowing that speaking would only make her mother angrier.

"Why, why can't you do it!"

She stared at her daughter's delicate and exquisite face, and her even more perfect, vibrant red hair.

Flynn reached out and touched her cheek, feeling the roughness of the small scar, and her expression gradually became erratic.

The biting winds of the North left indelible marks on his face.

No matter how long she left her daughter outside, no matter how cold the wind blew, her daughter's skin was always as delicate as a baby's.

Why isn't that face hers?!

"Damn Mansaru, he's relegated to being a pathetic baron in this godforsaken place, making me suffer along with him! Damn Rothdale, that worthless knight who dared to injure my face!"

Flynn growled hysterically.

She picked up a knife and held it against her daughter's delicate cheek, a twisted smile spreading across her face as she imagined what would happen next.

Feeling the cold touch on her cheek, Lucia didn't resist, somewhat used to it.

She knew her mother wouldn't.

Because that would make Uncle Loren very angry.

Just when Lucia thought her mother would let her leave as usual after venting her anger,

next moment.

The knife sliced through her delicate, watery skin, and blood began to flow uncontrollably.

"Ha, ha, ha!"

Looking at her hands stained with blood, Flynn shoved her daughter to the ground.

Ignoring the trembling girl huddled on the ground, she burst into a maniacal laugh.

"Ha, ha, you thought you could take my place? Look, this is what happens to you!"

"And that damned Rothdale, I won't let him get away with this! No! I'll make him pay."

Flynn's ferocious roar was abruptly cut off.

At that moment, she felt a suffocating sensation as her neck was being strangled. She turned her head with difficulty, her eyes filled with fear.

"I'm right here." Rhodes, who had entered the castle, stared at her coldly, his hand slowly tightening its grip. "You've pointed your knife at the wrong person."

"No, no, please, please."

The knife slipped from Flynn's hand and clattered on the floor.

She grasped Rod's arm, her face showing a pitiful, pleading expression.

With increased force, and a crisp cracking sound of bones breaking, Rhodes released his grip, letting Flynn's body fall to the ground.

Her eyes bulged with fear before death, filled with resentment and unwillingness.

"You should be glad you died at my hands now."

Death is the greatest mercy a wizard can bestow upon his enemies.

Rhodes stared at her corpse, feeling a nausea he had never experienced before.
