The Bard of Hogwarts
Chapter 42 Ancient Magic Before the Beginning
Chapter 42 Ancient Magic Before the Beginning
The night in Narnia is filled with twinkling stars.
But in the western sky, many stars had dimmed, except for one of the largest stars which was still twinkling.
Stone Table Hill.
A golden figure lay motionless on the ancient stone platform, while two weeping girls stood guard beside it.
……
"We must untie the ropes; we cannot leave Aslan lying here."
As young Lucy spoke, she stretched out her small, tender hands and began to tear at the ropes.
"It's tied too tightly; we need tools."
As the eldest sister, Susan was equally saddened, but she still maintained her rationality.
She immediately realized that the sturdy rope was not something the two of them could untie with their bare hands.
In the quiet night, time ticked by, second by second.
The surrounding temperature was getting colder and colder, including Aslan, who was lying on the stone platform. He was still warm a moment ago, but now he was completely stiff.
"Lucy, we have to go back, or Peter and the others will worry." Susan was the first to emerge from her grief.
"But……"
"No buts, we have to get back to camp before dawn." Susan pulled her younger sister up.
The night is no longer so dark.
On the distant eastern horizon, a glimmer of dawn is already appearing.
Just as Susan and Lucy were about to leave Table Valley, a loud crash came from behind them, like a giant smashing a huge plate.
Hearing the sound, the two turned around and looked.
The stone platform had been split in two from top to bottom, and the sound just now came from it, but Aslan's body on the stone platform was long gone.
"Waaah! This is terrible!" Lucy cried.
"Who did this? Was it magic again?" Susan looked around angrily.
"Yes!" a loud voice came from behind them. "But this is a more profound form of magic."
The sun rose, and in the morning light, Aslan was bathed in light, shining with a golden glow.
Moreover, its body was much larger than before, so much so that when older Susan rushed over to hug it, she could only touch its soft mane when she looked up.
"You're alive! Aslan." Lucy smiled happily.
"Yes! Darling, I'm still alive." Aslan lowered his head and gently touched Lucy.
"But...we clearly saw you..." Susan didn't know what to say for a moment.
"Here's the thing," Aslan looked up at Susan, "The White Witch possesses ancient magic, but her knowledge can only go back to the beginning of time."
"But if she could know further, could enter that silence and darkness before the beginning of time, then she would know that there was even more ancient magic there..."
Aslan told the two how it was resurrected.
In contrast to Susan's thoughtful expression, the younger Lucy couldn't bear to listen to such profound things.
Taking advantage of a break, she quickly asked, "So, what do we do now?"
"Now?" Aslan shook his mane.
"Now we're going to help Peter and Edmund, we're going to fight, fight for Narnia, but before that you two had better cover your ears."
Although they didn't understand why, Susan and Lucy did as instructed.
"Roar!"
Aslan opened its massive maw, stood atop the mountain, and let out a deafening roar! As if announcing its return.
……
Fate seems unchangeable, and some things seem to have been predetermined.
Ino lived alone in the valley for six days.
But by the third day, the last of his dried cheese and ham in his suitcase had been used up.
"Alright! Besides the magic carpet and Animagus, we need to add another new plan: learning the Extension Charm, otherwise this box really can't hold much more. You agree, little guy!"
Heaven has shown him mercy; he can finally call others "little guy" now.
Before him stood a wooden girl, or perhaps a wooden elf.
It was less than a foot tall, but had human limbs and facial features, and its whole body emitted a glowing green light. In terms of appearance, it was somewhat similar to the Bowtruckle.
He encountered this while hunting in the mountains. Compared to the wood elves who could understand human speech, this little guy seemed dull and stupid. He couldn't speak and didn't even have basic thinking.
Ino once suspected that the wood elf in front of him was following him because he had been driven out by his own kind, since no one wants to play with a fool.
But regardless, at least for those six days, he had someone to talk to, whether the other person understood him or not.
at the same time.
After finishing her daily venting, Ino turned her gaze to the berries she had just picked, a fruit that resembled a pomegranate and a fig.
"Pulp and fruit separated!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the magical light struck a small pile of berries not far away with pinpoint accuracy.
Then, as if controlled by an invisible hand, they peeled away the bitter outer skin, revealing the fresh red flesh inside.
To be honest, the berries in front of him tasted sour and astringent, and the texture wasn't very good, but it was his only source of food.
After all... after hearing the hare beg for mercy, he completely turned into a vegetarian, at least for the past few days.
On the other side...
The wood elf, who had been waiting anxiously to see what was happening, finally moved slowly and awkwardly to the berries once the food had been prepared.
Then it quickly picked up a fruit as big as its head, and instead of eating it, it sat on the ground with a satisfied smile.
Ino was used to such scenes; after all, it was just a berry.
In fact, he had guessed more than once that the reason why the little guy hadn't left might have a lot to do with his generosity.
After all, it's about feeding... so it's normal for them to become attached to you after a few times.
……
After a hearty meal, Ino lay on the lawn in the valley and looked up at the sky.
This was one of his few pastimes. Although the snow in Narnia had melted and the whole valley was full of life, there were no other sounds to be heard except for the calls of robins.
Perhaps as the dwarf said, or perhaps for some other reason, the small animals in the valley always avoided him.
The wild rabbits were like that before, and so were the wood elves.
Unable to figure it out, he simply stopped thinking about it, since he wouldn't be staying there much longer anyway.
Perhaps it's human nature that makes it impossible to be free of distracting thoughts.
As soon as one question pops into your head, another one is sure to follow.
His thoughts drifted back to the snow-covered castle, the White Witch in the garden, and even the old dwarf Simon…
……
Merry Christmas, child!
The sudden sound startled Ino, who instantly sat up from the ground.
What appeared before him was yet another reindeer sled.
But unlike the White Witch's sleigh, this one is much larger, with a full six reindeer.
Moreover, each reindeer has a mini red Santa hat tied to its antlers.
"Don't be nervous! I mean no harm." The speaker was a standard version of Santa Claus.
The reason for saying this is that the other person's appearance, clothing, and attire perfectly match the image of Santa Claus in all the stories.
"I'm just an old man delivering Christmas presents. Mr. Rabbit said there are still people here who haven't received their presents yet, and that's my fault."
"So, after I got home, I rushed over here overnight..."
