Chapter 530 Phoenix Society Emergency Meeting
Following Lupin into the inner room, Loira saw that the room was filled with people, but apart from those she knew, there were a few others she didn't recognize.
"Professor Hamilton, you've finally arrived! We thought something had happened to you." Hagrid was the first to approach Loila. He almost instinctively circled around her to make sure she was alright before nodding.
"I'm so sorry!" Loila quickly said, bowing her head. "I'm lost."
"This place is indeed not easy to find," Sirius said, raising an eyebrow. "It's old, worn, and dilapidated—"
"You can't say that," Loila said, pursing her lips. But then she remembered that this was, after all, his home.
Then you can say whatever you want.
"Now that Miss Hamilton is here, let's begin the meeting," Dumbledore said with a slight nod, slowly sitting down.
This was a long table, big enough to seat more than a dozen people. Looking at the seats, Loila instinctively wanted to squeeze to the very back.
"Miss Hamilton," Dumbledore said slowly, then tapped the seat next to him.
There was an empty seat to his right.
Ugh—this position is so awkward—and it's so close to Dumbledore—but under everyone's gaze, Loira didn't have the courage to run to the back, so she lowered her head and carefully sat down on the chair.
As she sat down, Dumbledore coughed and said slowly, "The reason I've gathered you all here is to discuss Horcruxes and matters concerning the Ministry of Magic."
"Alastor—could you tell us about your discovery?" Dumbledore asked, looking at Moody.
Mr. Moody seems to have been in charge of investigating Horcruxes, but it seems difficult to make any progress in the investigation—after all, Voldemort has preserved these things very well, and he may have already recovered quite a few Horcruxes.
For example, the Horcrux placed in the Room of Requirement, whose nature remains unknown to this day.
"Investigating Horcruxes is quite difficult," Moody nodded slightly and said. "We don't know either their number or their location."
"But I've found someone who might know about this," Moody said, pausing as he looked at Dumbledore.
"Who is that person?" Tonks couldn't help but ask at this moment, as she always seemed to have this somewhat impulsive personality.
Loila has always wanted to be a lively person, but it seems a bit difficult at the moment.
"It's Mr. Slughorn, who once served as a professor at Hogwarts," Moody said slowly.
His mention of this person sparked a discussion; clearly, most people here knew him.
But I don't know him—Loyla isn't a long-time Hogwarts student; she's only been at Hogwarts for a few years.
She knew nothing about these former faculty and staff members.
"Professor Slughorn was once the Head of Slytherin House," Kingsley, sitting next to Loira, explained slowly. "He was an outstanding professor of Potions."
"Potions?" Loila pursed her lips and looked at Snape, only to find a hint of nostalgia on Snape's face.
"Professor Slughorn and Voldemort have always had a good relationship."
"He once ran a club—with many students he thought would be outstanding." Kingsley seemed quite knowledgeable about this: "Voldemort was one of them."
"Back then, he was called Tom Riddle." Dumbledore chimed in, looking at everyone, "Leave this to me—I'll find some time to meet with Slughorn."
"However—I don't think he'll say anything," Dumbledore said, nodding slightly.
"Besides him, we haven't gotten any more clues about Horcruxes," Moody said, pausing for a moment.
"This matter is not so easy in itself," Dumbledore nodded slightly, "especially while he is also trying to retrieve the Horcruxes."
"So, is there any other information about the Ministry of Magic?" He then looked at Kingsley.
"The Ministry of Magic—" Kingsley's expression looked a little strange, and he said with some confusion, "The Ministry of Magic doesn't seem to be making any moves lately."
“Fudge has been out of the public eye at the Ministry of Magic for a while since that trial—” Kingsley said, shaking his head. “I haven’t even seen him more than a few times.”
"Is that so?" Dumbledore nodded slightly upon hearing this, as if he understood something.
"Maybe he's plotting something bad again," Sirius said irritably. "My advice is to protect Harry; he'll definitely try to harm him."
"After all, his attempt to take down Miss Hamilton had failed."
"That possibility cannot be ruled out," Lupin nodded slightly, adding, "However, Harry is currently safe—"
"Safe?" Sirius raised an eyebrow. "He's safest with us—he's currently staying at that awful aunt's house—"
"Sirius—" Dumbledore interrupted him, "Harry is safe now."
"Voldemort couldn't possibly harm him—and—" Dumbledore paused, "the Order of the Phoenix is also protecting him in secret."
"He'll be alright."
Dumbledore's words seemed to calm Sirius down a little, but he still looked sullen.
But—secret protection?
Is there really any covert protection? Loila said it wasn't a matter of trusting Dumbledore; when she was arrested and brought to the Ministry of Magic last time, Dumbledore also mentioned some kind of covert protection.
Why haven't I seen anyone protecting me? Or is secretly protecting me just giving me a wand?
Ultimately, however, Loila didn't think the so-called Harry matter was that important, because even though Harry was the boy who survived a great calamity—he was still just a student, wasn't he?
Are we really going to rely on a student to fight Voldemort?
Dumbledore, are you really that shameless to have lived to such an old age?
Of course, I don't mean I want to go in—Although Royla isn't afraid of Voldemort—well, she probably isn't, but she still doesn't like fighting others.
Voldemort wanted to make Dumbledore fight him, let them fight until they were bloodied and bruised, and then wait in ambush.
This is what a qualified dark wizard should do.
Roy didn't pay much attention to the rest of the meeting, because it was basically just some simple intelligence sharing. For the current Phoenix Society, activities didn't seem to be that simple.
After all, the Ministry of Magic isn't an ally anymore, is it?
If only our leader were Lord Grindelwald, he would have easily taken control of the Ministry of Magic long ago, and Voldemort wouldn't have had a chance.
Loila sat in the chair and yawned, looking a little bored.
