Chapter 4, Incident Handling

"What happened?"

A human officer appeared, his expression stern.

"A representative from the Cat-People exchange group has arrived," she said.

"The cult members attempted to force the student to deceive the cat people. This student was cruelly tortured by the cult and risked his life to deliver a message to the cat people."

"I immediately notified the higher-ups that this matter would be handled seriously. There is a medical team nearby, and they are on their way. This student was very lucky; his injuries were not too serious."

The human officer's expression turned serious, and he said...

He glanced at Lin Ran again and breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, his injuries weren't serious.

Less than two minutes later, a medical team dressed in white descended from the sky carrying a nutrition tank, escorted by soldiers carrying various instruments.

The medical team leader took Lin Ran from the cat-girl's hands, his smile gentle.

"Don't worry, he's not seriously injured. He just fainted and figured out the cult's plan. He'll be back to normal in half an hour at most."

A group of people borrowed a room from the embassy. First, they conducted a full examination, then accurately located the injury. The whole process was smooth and efficient. Finally, they applied a layer of green medicine to Lin Ran's arm.

The medication is absorbed completely within three seconds of contact with the skin.

The cat-human delegation representative remained outwardly calm while exchanging information with the human officer.

I'm actually quite envious. If the cat people could use this drug on a large scale, their overall strength would definitely be on another level!

The medical team leader put away the equipment and said to the officer.

"Alright, it's just a fracture in both arms and a slight internal organ concussion. He should wake up in twenty minutes at most. He can rest for a bit tonight and attend his cultivation class as usual tomorrow."

"Thank you," the officer said with a smile, knowing he would also bear some responsibility if the condition didn't improve.

The captain waved his hand.

"Alright, I have a few important surgeries to perform, so I won't stay any longer. Let me know if anything comes up."

The medical team and guards carried the nutrition tank and left.

The officer addressed the cat-people representative,

"I am very sorry that this happened. I will be investigating this matter personally. I may need to trouble you to look after this student for the time being. My secretary will be here shortly."

"The cult members deserve to be killed. I'll have to trouble you, sir, to do your best, otherwise next time it might be more than one person who gets injured."

The cat-person representative said in a neither firm nor soft tone.

"We have several classmates who are in the same class as this student, so there's no need to worry about taking care of them."

"Okay, thank you for your help."

The officer nodded and vanished into thin air.

A moment later, a secretary walked in.

Twenty minutes later.

Lin Ran slowly woke up, but felt no pain or discomfort, which surprised her.

I looked up and saw several figures.

An unfamiliar cat-woman, Yunzhu, a cat-woman girl, and an unfamiliar human woman.

"You're awake. I'm Zhang Yu, Commander Liu's secretary, responsible for recording the details of this incident. You've done a great job. Your injuries have been treated by the top medical team at the First Hospital, and you'll be able to resume your cultivation tomorrow without any aftereffects."

"Commander Liu has personally handled this matter. After asking a few more questions, you can go home."

Zhang Yu's gentle tone carried an inexplicable power that could quickly bring people to their senses.

Lin Ran snapped out of her daze and gave a shy smile.

"Thank you, Sister Zhang. Please ask. I'll tell you everything I know."

"Okay, the first question..."

Zhang Yu asked about running after school and figured out the reason... a few related questions.

"Thank you for your cooperation, classmates. That's enough. The cult members will be severely punished, at the very least the death penalty."

Zhang Yu smiled and closed the folder.

Lin Ran also got out of bed and started speaking immediately.

"Thank you, Sister Zhang. Please also thank Commander Liu for me. I've seen Commander Liu on the news before. He's a hero of the human race. It's a real pity I couldn't meet him in person."

"What you said is very true. I will tell the superior the truth. It's getting late today, and there should be a formal procedure tomorrow. I may have to trouble you again."

"Is this cat-person your classmate? She has something to tell you, so try not to stay out too late."

Zhang Yu laughed heartily, patted Lin Ran on the shoulder, and said in a serious tone.

Lin Ran: ...

Is it appropriate for you to say that in front of someone's elders?

Zhang Yu is gone.

Lin Ran looked at Yun Zhu, who then said...

"Lin Ran, this is Qingmeng, an elder in my clan."

"Senior Qingmeng."

Lin Ran hesitated before speaking, unsure of how to address him.

Qingmeng waved her hand, her plump body sinking into the sofa, one hand supporting her chin.

"I don't like being called 'senior.' Use the human term and call me 'older sister.'"

"Okay, Sister Meng, thank you for breaking the illusion."

Lin Ran said naturally,

Qingmeng said,

"Explain the whole story."

"That's how it is..."

"How did you figure it out?"

"It's my homeroom teacher, Gao Jun. He once taught us that if there are any abnormal benefits, there is definitely a problem. The news also mentioned that cult members may have infiltrated the city recently."

Lin Ran dragged Gao Jun into this.

Qingmeng seemed to be deep in thought.

"Is that so? I understand. If there's nothing else, go back now. Get some rest tonight and continue your cultivation tomorrow. Yunzhu, see Lin Ran off."

"Okay, thank you, Sister Meng."

Yunzhu escorted Lin Ran to the door.

Lin Ran said,

"That's enough for now, I'll take the bus back."

"Sister Zhang has arranged a car for you. Also, thank you for risking your life to deliver this message."

Yunzhu pointed to the empty car by the roadside and said softly, her orange ears twitching.

"It's what I should do."

……

Inside the car, Lin Ran opened the skill panel.

So, this should be considered a blessing in disguise, right?

Lin Ran didn't know whether she had made a loss or a gain.

Then, he contacted his homeroom teacher, Gao Jun.

"Teacher Gao, this is what happened... I was telling Sister Zhang that you are a very good teacher..."

Gao Jun replied instantly.

"Well done! You're truly my student. There will definitely be an interview and recording tomorrow. Would you like to be on camera?"

"Follow the teacher's instructions."

"Okay, say this tomorrow..."

apartment.

Lin Ran opened the door and almost kicked a yellow blob.

"Meow!!"

Daju sat upright at the doorway, its golden eyes glaring at Lin Ran.

Lin Ran lifted the large orange with the back of her foot and threw it aside.

"Don't block the way, or you won't get any food later."

Meow~~

Foolish humans! I will remember this grudge!

kitchen,

Lin Ran skillfully washed and chopped the vegetables, and soon she had four dishes and a soup ready.

"Meow~ Meow~"

The orange cat stared intently at the piece of meat, its tail wagging uneasily back and forth.

Seeing this, Lin Ran couldn't help but smile, feeling even better, and added more meat to Da Ju's plate.

Big Orange: Aww~~ Delicious!
