I Created a Sanctuary in Marvel
Chapter 99 Mephisto's Wrath
Chapter 99 Mephisto's Wrath
"Forget it, I'd better not join in the fun."
"If the U-MAN organization is exposed, it would be a huge loss."
He muttered to himself, his fingertips tapping unconsciously on the table.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the U-Man organization has successfully captured more than a dozen mutants.
Although these mutants' abilities are not top-tier, they are enough to allow them to advance their research as experimental subjects.
"Our main task has always been to find suitable consumables."
He murmured that as the head of the U-MAN organization in this region, he had to proceed with caution.
Although in some ways their goals are similar to those of Pope Ye Feng of the Sanctuary—both seeking a way for humans and mutants to coexist—the means they employ are vastly different.
"The right path is to make mutants the cornerstone of human evolution."
He muttered to himself, a hint of fanaticism flashing in his eyes.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, a black SUV was speeding through the night.
"We must hurry."
Johnny gripped the steering wheel tightly, his sharp gaze scanning the road ahead. The light and shadow of the streetlights flashed across his face, outlining the taut lines of his jaw.
Moro sat in the passenger seat, carefully examining the equipment in his hands.
Those were holy water and specially made dragon scale weapons taken from the dragon scale storage bag, gleaming faintly in the dimly lit car.
"I have contacted several reliable informants who will keep us updated on the latest developments."
Outside the car window, the city's neon lights were gradually replaced by dilapidated street scenes.
They were heading towards the edge of the city, a favorite hiding place for dark creatures and fugitives.
Inside a secluded hideout, candlelight cast flickering shadows on the walls.
Kari was kneeling tremblingly before an old man, cold sweat trickling down his temples.
"My lord, the Holy Land has received the news and has sent people to investigate the mother and child."
Kari's voice trembled noticeably, and his fingers unconsciously gripped the hem of his clothes.
"Sanctuary?"
Mephisto's avatar snorted coldly and tapped the ground lightly with the scepter in his hand.
"I seem to remember them. They're the guys who ruined Witchheart Demon's plans last time."
"Even God has fallen silent, so what can they do? They're just a bunch of foolish mortals!"
His voice was full of disdain, and his eyes were like the coldest ice field.
Mephisto suddenly stood up, and the shadow behind him twisted and deformed, vaguely revealing the true form of the Lord of Hell.
The candlelight on the wall flickered violently, as if it might go out at any moment.
"Listen, I don't want to know the process, I only want the result! Find Danny and take him to the sacrificial site. Then, I will grant you everything you desire."
Kari's face grew even paler; he could almost hear his heart pounding wildly. "We have done our best, my lord..."
"I don't want you to try your best!"
"If I don't see Danny within three days, none of you have a reason to live. Come to hell and serve me."
Mephisto's face instantly turned ferocious, the surrounding temperature plummeted, and tiny ice crystals condensed in the air.
Kari almost collapsed to the ground, feeling the demon lord's rage pressing down on his chest like a physical force: "I understand, we will definitely complete the mission."
Just as he staggered out of the room, one of his underlings ran in excitedly to report, "Boss, we've found the mother and child!"
A ruthless glint flashed in Kari's eyes as he wiped the cold sweat from his brow: "Gather everyone, bring all your weapons. This is our last chance."
After Kari left, a deep voice echoed from the shadows of the room, a voice that seemed to come from the deepest abyss: "It seems that your followers are not powerful enough."
Mephisto's face immediately turned ugly, and the scepter in his hand emitted a dark red light: "This has nothing to do with you."
"Don't forget our deal."
"I've released all the fragments of the Dark Book. If I don't get the result I want, you should know the consequences, Mephisto."
Dormammu's voice echoed in the room, and shadows crept in the corners.
"Ha, if I hadn't proposed this deal, you would never have had the chance to set foot in the real world."
"Dormammu, are you threatening me?"
Mephisto retorted, and the red light on his scepter burned even brighter.
The air between the two dimensional demons seemed to freeze.
This collaboration was somewhat of a spur-of-the-moment decision.
Dormammu has always wanted to enter the real world, and so has Mephisto.
Last time, because of the Witchheart Demon, Mephisto and the Ancient One fought a great battle on the border of Hell, and Mephisto suffered a great loss, so he wanted to get revenge.
If this can break down the barriers of the real world, that would be ideal.
That's why he partnered with Dormammu.
Dormammu awakened his remaining followers on Earth, using the Dark Book to draw attention to them; while Mephisto directed his followers to find their own incarnation.
What was supposed to be a secret plan has now become a huge scandal.
"Mephisto, you are not the only lord of Hell."
"I also want a share of the power of the Infinite Hell. What I really want to know is, if I go to war with you, will the other hell lords side with me or with you?"
Dormammu sneered, and a blurry face emerged from the shadows.
Mephisto fell silent, and the light on his scepter dimmed slightly.
Dormammu is right. The structure of Hell is complex. Although he is the strongest lord, if Dormammu targets him, his situation will be very difficult.
"You'd better be able to successfully destroy a temple."
"Break Vishanti's Eternal Shield formation."
Seeing that Mephisto remained silent, Dormammu said no more. The black energy body slowly dissipated into the air, leaving only a faint sulfurous smell.
"Dormammu, one day you will pay the price."
Mephisto stared at the empty room, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He slammed his scepter down heavily, leaving a charred mark on the stone slab.
Johnny and Morrow have arrived at the location mentioned in the intelligence report, a dilapidated apartment building.
The walls outside the building were covered in graffiti, and several trash cans were overturned on the ground, emitting a foul odor.
Where are they?
Moro asked his intelligence officer, while cautiously glancing around.
The dim streetlights cast long shadows on the damp street.
A hooded man emerged from the shadows and handed over a note: "This is the address. Don't drag me into such dangerous things again."
"Do you know that both gangs and dark creatures are looking for this mother and child? If I'm exposed, I'll die a horrible death."
His voice was filled with suppressed anger, and his fingers trembled slightly with tension.
Johnny took the note, quickly glanced at it in the dim light, and then tossed his Saint Seiya crest to the other person: "Thanks for the message. If you need anything, you can find me at the Sanctuary."
The intelligence officer caught the emblem, paused for a moment, and examined the exquisite design carefully under the streetlight: "Sanctuary? You're a Saint Seiya?"
"Good heavens, you fake priest actually have connections with the Sanctuary?"
He turned to Moro, his voice tinged with surprise.
"I wish you all the best."
"I said," the intelligence officer said, before quickly disappearing into the night, his footsteps fading into the distance on the empty streets.
Johnny and Morrow arrived at the third floor of the apartment building according to the address. The dilapidated hallway was filled with a musty smell, the dim lighting flickered on and off, and large patches of plaster were peeling off the walls.
"Knock knock!"
Moro gently knocked on the door, his voice echoing in the quiet corridor.
The two waited quietly outside the door. Johnny's keen hearing caught the subtle movements inside: hurried footsteps and low voices.
"Nadja, we are from the Sanctuary, and we mean you no harm."
"You should know what Danny's existence means. Only the Sanctuary can protect you now."
Johnny spoke, trying to keep his voice calm.
The noise inside the house stopped.
A few seconds later, the door opened a crack, and a pair of wary eyes peered at them. The door chain remained firmly fastened.
"Are you really from the Sanctuary?"
Nadya's voice was filled with doubt, and her fingers gripped the door frame tightly, her knuckles turning white.
"If it were a demon or a gang chasing you, they wouldn't be knocking so politely, would they?"
Moro responded gently, while showing the cross hanging from his chest.
Nadya hesitated for a moment, but finally opened the door.
The room was simple but clean. A black-haired boy sat quietly on the sofa, his eyes showing a maturity beyond his years. There was half a half-eaten sandwich on the table.
"This is not the place to talk, let's get out of here."
"We can find you, and so can the hounds of hell. Let's get back to the church first."
Johnny frowned, his gaze sweeping across every corner of the room.
Nadya nodded, quickly gathered the necessary items, and picked up Danny.
The boy nestled obediently in his mother's arms, but his gaze never left Johnny. The four of them quietly left the apartment and disappeared into the night.
Half an hour later, they returned to the church in Morro.
Moonlight streamed through the stained glass, casting dappled shadows on the church pews. Johnny immediately began checking the security measures around the church, while Moreau took out more relics from his storage bag and set up protective barriers around the church.
"Moro, set up the surroundings."
"I need to talk to them first."
Johnny gave the order, while keeping a watchful eye on the window.
Moro nodded and got to work.
He took out holy water from the bag and carefully arranged it on the doors and windows, whispering prayers.
Johnny turned to Nadja, his tone serious: "Now, tell me, why did you make a contract with Mephisto? Is this child really Mephisto's son?"
Nadya held Danny tightly in her arms, a flicker of pain in her eyes. The candlelight from the church danced on her face, illuminating her complex expression.
She took a deep breath, ready to tell the story that changed her life.
"Yes, he is indeed Mephisto's child—but he is also human!"
