I Created a Sanctuary in Marvel

Chapter 9 The Pope, Miracles

"When will we meet again?"

Logan stopped and turned to look at Ye Feng. His mission was to win over the mutants scattered around the world, even though this wasn't his forte.

But he was willing to try for the vision Ye Feng described. Over the years, he had come into contact with quite a few mutants, and there were indeed some forces worth winning over.

"When the Vatican declares me the successor to the papacy."

"That will be the day we meet again."

Ye Feng's answer was brief and affirmative.

"Understood." Logan nodded, said no more, and turned to stride away in another direction.

Ye Feng gazed at the towering cross in the distance, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

Elemental light swirled around him, his figure gradually blurred, and finally disappeared completely into the air.

"Da...da...da..."

Inside the Papal Palace, the clear sound of footsteps echoed through the spacious hall.

The elderly pope looked up and heard the unusual sound, but showed no sign of panic. He simply stared silently into the empty hall. His attendants remained unresponsive, as if he were the only one who could hear the footsteps.

Just then, a sentence suddenly rang in his mind.

The Pope remained expressionless and gently waved his hand, signaling all his attendants to step back.

"Mutants?" the Pope asked the empty hall, his voice steady.

He showed no concern for this sudden and extraordinary event; his gaze remained deep. He sat alone on the papal throne, awaiting the other party's appearance.

"It seems His Holiness the Pope knows quite a bit about mutants." Ye Feng's figure slowly appeared, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

It seems that the Vatican is not as simple as it appears.

Upon reflection, this makes sense. If the Vatican were truly worthless, how could it have secured a place in the Marvel Universe, a universe filled with gods and miracles?

It should be noted that even in the Pantheon, the divine kingdom located at the edge of the universe, there is not a single deity belonging to Catholicism.

The only entity in the Marvel universe that can be associated with Catholicism is perhaps the tenth realm, Heaven, which was banished by Odin in its early years!

But this paradise is not that paradise; their strengths are vastly different.

"I do have some understanding of this." The Pope nodded slightly.

"There are also mutants among believers worldwide. They have prayed to the Vatican to save them and grant them a new life."

"Unfortunately, I couldn't do it." He sighed softly, his tone filled with deep regret.

He raised his eyes and looked at Ye Feng with a probing gaze, his eyes, which had seen through the world, revealing a wisdom that understood everything.

Having held a high position for decades, he had witnessed too many people and events, and had a thorough understanding of human nature. He could sense that the mutant before him meant no harm, so he wanted to hear the other party's purpose.

"I want to become the Pope of the Holy See."

"And reshape the existing order."

Ye Feng spoke each word clearly, his words startling everyone present.

Even the seasoned Pope was stunned into silence by these two short sentences.

"Young man, do you know what you're saying?" The Pope's gaze was filled with scrutiny and suspicion.

He knew that mutants possessed great power, but that power alone was far from enough to completely overturn the existing social order.

"Of course I know."

"But as things stand, it's a dead end between mutants and humans. Charles is too idealistic, and Eric is too extreme. Only I can bring true salvation to this world."

Ye Feng remained calm and composed, returning the Pope's gaze indifferently, yet his tone was filled with undeniable confidence.

"What do you rely on?"

"Is it a power far exceeding that of Charles or Eric?"

The Pope's eyes narrowed slightly, his authority as a ruler subtly revealed. Anyone who mistook the Pope for a kind old man would be sorely mistaken.

"It is my ability, and the wisdom accumulated by great people."

Ye Feng stretched out his hand, and the seven-colored elemental light flowed and alternated in his palm.

"Elemental control... As the name suggests, I can wield the power of all elements in the world. I can easily replicate miracles, cure diseases, and extend lifespans..."

He paused slightly as a golden light shone from his hand, enveloping the Pope.

At that moment, the elderly pope clearly felt a surge of relaxation and vitality deep within his body, as if the years had been quietly reversed.

"I can even easily destroy a city... an entire continent."

Ye Feng's voice remained calm, yet it carried a chilling power.

"You want to become a god?" The old pope saw through Ye Feng's plan at a glance.

Currently, the existence of mutants is not publicly known, and is only known to the upper echelons. If handled properly, Ye Feng could appear before the world as a god or a divine messenger.

"No wonder you chose Catholicism..." The Pope suddenly realized, finally understanding Ye Feng's true intention for this trip.

They want to create a god!

With its massive Catholic population, the Vatican can become a holy site and be worshipped and protected by millions of believers as soon as a miracle is performed.

At that time, Ye Feng, as a mutant, bearing the title of Pope or Divine Messenger, would be untouchable even in broad daylight.

Because that would mean making enemies of hundreds of millions of believers worldwide, a disaster for any country.

Some people might think this is an exaggeration, but as Ye Feng said...

A pope who can cure diseases, regenerate severed limbs, and even extend lifespans will surely win the absolute loyalty of believers.

"Your Holiness should understand what my abilities mean."

"I can make Catholicism stand at the top of the world again."

Ye Feng took a step forward, his voice steady and powerful.

These words truly touched the Pope's heart.

Having ruled the Catholic Church for decades, he knew far too many secrets. For example, the existence of gods from other pantheons, even if they were currently dormant. This fact was undoubtedly a huge shock to the Catholic Church.

"Can."

I promise you.

After a long period of contemplation, the Pope finally nodded slowly.

As Pope, he already stands at the pinnacle of human power and wealth, but these are no longer his goals. What he truly desires is to establish an ideal, perfect divine kingdom.

Ye Feng's appearance gave him hope.

It wasn't just because of the other party's mutant identity and abilities, but also because he sensed from Ye Feng an air of superiority and dominance over the world.

Even if I refuse today, it's possible the other party still has the ability to achieve their goal, though the process will be more complicated. In that case, I might as well go with the flow.

"But you cannot show your face for the time being."

"According to your plan, you can first build up your own power base. The Vatican currently lacks a reliable institution of violence."

The Pope added, his tone returning to its usual composure.

"Next, I will gradually elevate you to the position of Pope," the Pope continued, his eyes gleaming with wisdom.

Ye Feng nodded slightly.

He understood that within an ancient system like Catholicism, even if miracles could be performed, achieving instant success was a pipe dream. Only through steady and methodical progress could one accomplish great things.
