I Created a Sanctuary in Marvel
Chapter 85 U-MAN Organization
Chapter 85 U-MAN Organization
The next day, Ye Feng brought Doom to the Saint Cloth Laboratory deep within the Sanctuary.
The laboratory is housed in a domed building made of white marble, where sunlight streams through the high windows, casting dappled shadows on the smooth, mirror-like floor.
Several human-shaped stone sculptures stand on the surrounding walls, each with a different posture, as if they were ancient guardians.
The air was filled with a faint scent of metal mixed with some kind of special energy. On the central workbench, there were scattered metal fragments that shimmered with an unusual luster and complex design drawings.
Doom followed behind Ye Feng, his gaze sweeping over every corner of the laboratory, listening to Ye Feng's explanation of the Saint Cloth.
"Incredible."
"The concept of this Saint Cloth—its form of existence—is almost indistinguishable from the legendary divine artifacts?"
After listening, Doom couldn't help but sigh. He picked up a cold metal fragment covered with strange patterns and examined it carefully.
"You can think of it as a magical artifact."
"However, this is a divine artifact that belongs exclusively to our Holy Domain. It is a vessel of will that can be inherited and passed down."
"Even if one day in the future, we, the original wearers, pass away, the Cloth will pass on our spirit, will, and even the core of our power from generation to generation. This is the kind of living, enduring artifact I truly want to create."
Ye Feng turned around, his eyes filled with a profound expectation.
He changed the subject, his tone becoming serious: "But currently, the research on the Saint Cloth has encountered some key technical bottlenecks, and progress is slow."
"I've heard that you've achieved remarkable results in your research projects at the Imperial National University, especially in the fields of new materials and energy conduction."
Therefore, I hope that you can help overcome these difficulties without interfering with your own affairs.
"No problem, it's nothing."
Doom answered without hesitation, gently placing the metal fragments back on the worktable.
Compared to the help and precious trust Ye Feng gave him, this small sacrifice seemed insignificant to him.
"Then I'll await good news."
Ye Feng smiled gently and patted Doom on the shoulder.
In stark contrast to the peaceful and hopeful research atmosphere of the Sanctuary, the atmosphere at Xavier's Academy of Genius Youth was rather somber.
Eric's dramatic change in personality left everyone who knew him in disbelief.
Charles was determined to find out who was behind this incident.
"William Stryker—he's the guy who's got us in control of this operation."
"He has a mutant who is skilled at creating illusions, and we are all being deceived by him."
"He is a colonel in the military. His direct subordinate force is not large, but through long-term capture and research of mutants, he has acquired a lot of information about mutants."
"He's an ambitious man through and through, a dangerous individual."
Eric pressed hard on his temples, as if trying to squeeze out some painful memories.
"William Stryker—"
Charles repeated the name in a low voice, a fleeting glint of cold light flashing in his azure eyes, unnoticed even by himself, as a chilling and pure killing intent quietly welled up from the depths of his heart.
In the past, he preferred to solve problems through understanding and communication, but recently, it seems that some unknown force is subtly influencing his emotions and judgment.
Two days later, based on the clues they had gathered, the X-Men located Stryker's secret base.
The group arrived silently at their destination, a large dam hidden in a desolate mountain area, aboard the iconic Blackbird fighter jet.
The fighter jet landed smoothly, the hatch opened, and Jean Grey was the first to step out, her powerful telepathic abilities spreading outwards like invisible ripples.
She frowned slightly. "Something's not right. It's too quiet here—I can barely sense any active mental activity. Have they already evacuated?"
"I don't feel like it's an evacuation."
Hank twitched his unusually sensitive nose, his thick eyebrows furrowing tightly.
"There was a smell in the air—the stench of a rotting corpse. And it was quite strong."
The enhanced senses were not giving him an advantage, but rather disgusting information.
"Since we're already here, we must get to the bottom of this."
Scott spoke resolutely, adjusted his red quartz glasses, and strode confidently to the front.
"boom!"
The red shockwave that shot from Scott's eyes precisely destroyed the heavy metal lock on the outside.
The moment the door opened, a stench of blood and decay assaulted everyone's senses, causing them to instinctively cover their noses.
"It seems something really has happened."
As Oloro spoke, he raised his hand and manipulated the airflow to create a gentle but continuous breeze, slightly dispersing the polluted air.
The scene inside the base was horrific. The bodies of guards and researchers lay scattered haphazardly in the passageways and rooms, long since lifeless.
Hank crouched down and carefully examined several corpses dressed in special prison uniforms. Their bodies were covered with various old and new wounds, clearly indicating that they had suffered long-term inhuman torture before their deaths.
"These are mutants—their internal organs have been ripped out. The method is very professional, the purpose is clear: to silence them and obtain material."
"We've found Stryker."
Ororo's voice came from a main laboratory deeper inside the base.
When everyone rushed over, they saw William Stryker firmly bound to the laboratory chair, his limbs twisted at unnatural angles, clearly having been broken by tremendous force.
His face was frozen with the pain and terror of dying; he had been dead for some time.
"Based on the lividity and rigor mortis, the time of death was more than three days ago."
"In other words, this place was attacked almost simultaneously with the conclusion of the Hand headquarters incident. The attackers were powerful and swift, completely overwhelming the defenses and carrying out a thorough massacre and purge."
"This was premeditated; we were beaten to it."
Hank quickly made a preliminary judgment based on his knowledge of biology.
"All the computer hard drives were physically damaged or removed, leaving no data residue."
"Their target is very clear: they're after Stryker's research data on mutants. Yet another hidden organization has surfaced."
Ororo examined the empty computer case, his brow furrowed.
Everyone's mood grew heavier. Recent major events—the manifestation of Hell's forces, the revival of myths and legends, the extraordinary era promoted by Pope Ye Feng, and the successive exposure of lurking forces such as the Hand and Stryker—had all taken place.
The world is becoming increasingly unfamiliar and fraught with danger.
This time it's Stryker, but who will it be next? The future path of mutants seems to be becoming increasingly unclear.
The operation yielded nothing. Stryker was silenced, all the research data was stolen, leaving the X-Men with only the corpses of an entire base and deeper doubts.
The unknown enemy acted swiftly and decisively, leaving no trace. This kind of threat lurking in the shadows is far more unsettling than a clearly identified adversary.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious office on the top floor of a modern skyscraper.
Dr. Bolivar Trask, speaking into the telephone receiver, said, "—This operation was so successful thanks to the accurate intelligence you provided. I look forward to even more fruitful cooperation in the future."
A slightly manic voice came from the other end of the phone: "Our gains have truly exceeded our expectations! Dr. Trask, although our research directions seem quite different, Stryker's materials have provided invaluable insights; it's absolutely a win-win situation!"
"I hope that once you get Stryker's research results, you can quickly come up with something that will impress me."
Trask's tone was flat, revealing no emotion.
"Don't worry, Doctor! Stryker's data on mutant gene stitching and ability transplantation is a godsend for us!"
"Soon, you will see the prototype of the ultimate bio-weapon, a perfect creation that combines the abilities of multiple mutants!"
"Once the issue of gene sequence stability is resolved, the success of the god-making project will be just around the corner!"
"At that time, combined with your invincible Sentinel robots, we will establish a new order for this world!"
The other person's voice trembled slightly with excitement.
"I look forward to your work."
Trask responded curtly and then hung up the phone.
The moment he put down the receiver, the polite smile on his face vanished instantly, replaced by an undisguised mocking sneer.
Biological weapons? Ridiculous.
In his mind, only perfect and absolutely obedient Sentinel robots are the ultimate solution to the mutant problem and the true masters of the future world.
As for the flesh and blood bodies researched by those madmen of U-MAN, they were ultimately nothing more than stepping stones to provide optimized materials for his Sentinels.
However, inside one of the most secretive underground laboratories of the U-MAN organization, a completely different scene of fervor unfolded.
"Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! I never imagined that mutant genes and organs could be forcibly fused in this way! That madman Stryker actually has a successful case!"
John Noble, the leader of the organization, held a stack of documents he had just seized from Stryker Base, his eyes gleaming and his face filled with an almost morbid excitement.
"But that's not enough! We need many more mutants with different abilities to conduct experiments! Increase the search efforts! But be even more careful; we must not reveal our presence!"
He turned his head sharply and gave a stern order to his assistant, who was standing beside him with his hands at his sides.
"Understood, sir."
The assistant responded respectfully, then quickly turned and left to carry out the order.
John Sublime then strolled to the other side of the laboratory, where several huge transparent nutrient chambers were arranged, each containing strangely shaped, spliced humanoid or non-humanoid biological tissues.
He stared at the test subjects with fascination, muttering to himself, "The path of evolution is indeed full of thorns. These ignorant mutants possess the power bestowed by the gods but are unaware of it, and do not know how to truly use it."
"Your existence is merely nourishment provided for a greater evolution!"
He opened his arms as if to embrace the entire laboratory, his eyes burning with a frenzied rage.
"Once I can completely decipher the core secret of your power, I, John Sublime, will step over your corpses and become the sole god of this new era!"
