I Created a Sanctuary in Marvel
Chapter 24 Charles's Invitation to a Meeting
The document the Pope handed over was an invitation to meet with Charles Xavier. Professor X wanted to see him.
"Interesting." Ye Feng looked at the invitation in his hand, a slight smile playing on his lips. He had indeed been considering meeting Charles. Ever since his brief conversation with Charles using Logan's body last time, he knew this meeting was inevitable.
"Okay, let's meet then."
"We'll have to meet sooner or later anyway."
Ye Feng casually handed the invitation to Clarice.
Professor X is one of the two giants of mutants. For a long time, he was the spiritual icon of many mutants, with countless followers, and some were even willing to give their lives for him.
Upon seeing that Ye Feng had accepted the meeting invitation, the Pope immediately arranged for someone to reply to Charles.
Inside Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Jean Grey, the Phoenix, entered the study with a message that had just been sent back from the Holy See.
"Professor, the Vatican has accepted our invitation to meet."
"However, the meeting place is set for the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican."
She said softly.
Charles, sitting in his wheelchair, gazed quietly at the scenery outside the window. Upon hearing this, he slowly turned around. "I understand. Let's arrange the time; we'll head to the Vatican in two days."
He had no objection to the meeting place. Or rather, he was absolutely confident that he could travel to any place in the world. Current technology had not yet advanced to the point where it could completely block his telepathic abilities, and there were not many items that could resist them.
After receiving Charles's reply, Ye Feng did not leave the Papacy, but instead sat in meditation in the Apostolic Palace.
"The Hand..." Ye Feng began to think about how to deal with this organization.
Ye Feng wasn't particularly interested in the five leaders of the Hand. Although they had dabbled in the extraordinary realm, they were at most at the initial stage of transcendence. However, the dragon bones they possessed did pique Ye Feng's interest.
Dragon bones originate from the mysterious Eastern realm of Kunlun, the remains of the fallen divine dragon Shou Lao, possessing miraculous effects such as prolonging life and even bringing the dead back to life. Those who defeat Shou Lao will receive his "qi" and become the modern-day iron fist of Kunlun.
However, judging from their performance in the Marvel universe, the strength of each Iron Fist has varied. The strongest was Wu Fengji, who defeated and absorbed the Phoenix Force hundreds of years ago. The strength of subsequent Iron Fists has generally been weaker than before, and even Danny Rand's performance was mediocre.
If Ye Feng could obtain the dragon bone, or even directly find Elder Shou, he could acquire an inexhaustible source of life essence. This would eliminate the need for him to go to great lengths to extract life energy from nature.
Simply put, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to wipe out ten organizations like the Hand.
He already had an idea in mind.
Time slipped away quietly in meditation, and two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Charles, Jean Grey, and Cyclops Scott had arrived at the Vatican. Led by Clarice, the three walked through the solemn corridors and into the depths of the Apostolic Palace.
"Gentlemen, this is where the Divine Envoy resides."
"Please wait a moment."
Clarice politely led the three of them to the training ground next to Ye Feng's residence.
Before Clarice could go in to announce their arrival, Ye Feng opened the door and appeared before the three of them.
"This should be our first real meeting," Ye Feng said first, his gaze calmly sweeping over the three of them.
"That's right, I didn't expect you to grow so fast." Charles said with some emotion. The last time he sensed Ye Feng, the other party was still very thin and weak, and even with his superb abilities, he couldn't hide his disheveled state when he was down on his luck.
But upon meeting him this time, the other person's near-perfect appearance and transcendent demeanor made him feel a chill run down his spine.
The group sat in the rest area next to the training field, where sunlight streamed through the stained glass windows, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
"I wonder what you wanted to talk about, Professor?" Ye Feng cut straight to the point.
"I want to know, what exactly do you want to do?"
"Your actions over this period have put a lot of pressure on the mutant community. The original balance has been broken."
Charles looked directly into Ye Feng's eyes.
He paused, then continued, "As far as I know, many conglomerates and high-ranking government officials have taken action against you, and have even contacted me and Eric."
Charles gazed at the handsome young man before him; the only thing that remained unchanged was his calm, unwavering eyes. His dark pupils were like an abyss, making it impossible to discern his thoughts.
"I just want to fight for more living space for mutants in my own way."
"The Vatican is a good cover, isn't it?"
Ye Feng responded calmly.
"Are you trying to steal divine power as a mutant?"
"Like the legendary Apocalypse? Claiming to be a god? Enslaving all living beings?"
Charles's eyes sharpened.
Upon hearing these words, Jean Grey and Scott unconsciously shifted their positions, instantly creating a tense atmosphere. Clarisse stood behind Ye Feng, her eyes sharp, ready to strike at any moment.
In an instant, the air in the training field seemed to freeze.
"I have no interest in becoming a god."
"It's just that under the current social structure, theocracy is the best cover."
Ye Feng's voice remained calm.
A mocking smile played on his lips: "Besides, you've been fighting with Eric for so many years, causing all sorts of trouble, and what have you gotten in return?"
Throughout the history of Marvel mutants, the timeline has been reset countless times, and almost none have had a good ending. In Ye Feng's view, both Charles and Eric's methods were too extreme.
"But at least we didn't make things worse," Charles replied after a moment of silence.
Faced with Ye Feng's questioning, he was momentarily lost in thought. Upon careful reflection, he couldn't recall what substantial progress he and Eric had actually made.
They seem to be constantly at odds, fighting each other, with the other side plotting against him and preventing him from doing so, trapped in a bizarre cycle.
"Charles, if I may be so bold..."
"Do you truly believe you've made a sufficient contribution to the existence of the mutant community?"
Ye Feng's gaze sharpened.
He paused, then continued, "To say nothing of far-off places, take the person next to you for example..."
His gaze swept over Jean Grey.
"This is a hidden danger far exceeding any previous crisis. What have you done? Or do you truly believe your existence is the stabilizing force, the nuclear weapon of the mutant race, sufficient to deter all beings who covet mutants?"
Ye Feng's voice remained calm, yet it was incredibly oppressive: "Then what about my experiences in the lab? What about the countless mutants I've researched?"
In his view, Charles's overly idealistic thinking was even less significant than Magneto's contributions to the mutant community.
"What do you mean?" Scott, standing behind Charles, was getting restless, his hand already on his glasses. Jean Grey's expression also became complicated.
"Literal meaning."
Ye Feng responded calmly.
"Let's all go our own way and live in peace. If you really want to stop me and change my mind..."
He paused, then said firmly, "Then we are enemies!"
The words left no room for maneuver.
Charles gave Ye Feng a deep look. This personal meeting had given him a deeper understanding of Ye Feng. It wasn't that the other party lacked ambition; he was simply adept at concealing it and knew how to proceed gradually.
Moreover, Ye Feng's ability to sense the power within the zither and his willingness to utter such words led him to some suspicions.
"An Omega-level mutant?" Charles murmured to himself, his eyes growing increasingly profound.
