Clinging to the Witcher world to become a god of martial arts

Chapter 87: Message Sharing, Specifics of the Recruitment

Grena was the fourth to arrive. After scanning the crowd, she walked toward Theodore.

Lorne, lost in thought, was drawn up by a subtle movement and saw a white dress flash past her eyes.

A faint fragrance wafted in the gentle breeze.

Lorne felt that the pretty girl in the short skirt looked down on him and Lily, so he deliberately walked past them and sat down next to Theodore.

I don't care about myself, and there's no need to befriend a complete stranger who's a Level 1 apprentice, but wasn't she brought here by Lily?

It seems like their relationship isn't very good...

Dante was the last to arrive. He also walked past Lily and Lorne on the outside and sat down inside.

Theodore glanced at him subtly, his expression complex.

"Now that everyone is here, let's begin." Theodore looked at everyone and sighed, "I went to the Wizard's Tower again yesterday, but I still couldn't see Lady Katarina."

The main purpose of this meeting was to share the information that everyone had gathered in order to prepare for the upcoming mobilization.

Lorne has been familiarizing himself with the Qi and practicing mastering the Overturning Heaven technique for the past two days. He is completely oblivious to what is happening around him and doesn't even know when Theodore went to the Wizard's Tower again.

After thinking it over, I realized there's nothing I can share.

"Perhaps the lord you mentioned is still on the battlefield right now." Grena pondered for a moment, then looked at Theodore with her beautiful, pure black eyes:

"The reason for the conscription is indeed because a full-scale war has broken out between the Black Sun Tower and the Forest of Fireflies."

Lorne and Theodore were prepared, so there were not many surprises.

The others still held a sliver of hope, wishing it was just a minor conflict that could be resolved quickly.

"Not only that, almost all of the Black Tower's high-ranking wizards have been mobilized, leaving only non-combat personnel to stabilize the internal situation of the Black Tower," Herbert added with a worried expression.

Over the course of two days, he and Grena scoured the entire apprenticeship district and even went to the Wizard Tower to gather information before finally getting a clear picture of the situation.

"Lily and I have been wandering around the market for the past two days. Prices have skyrocketed. The prices of runes, potions, and magical artifacts are far higher than before. All the items and props in the exchange shop have been supplied to the Wizard Tower, and resources are becoming increasingly scarce."

Dante chimed in at the worst possible moment, "With commissions pouring in and the pay not low, I'm sure many apprentices will flock to the resource zone."

"Yes," Lily whispered in agreement.

The production of potions, runes, and other items all require raw materials. As the war escalates, production inevitably cannot keep up with consumption.

Potions and runes became important, and wizards' needs increased during wartime.

Therefore, such items should not be given to apprentices. What is the life of an apprentice compared to that of a formal wizard?

Therefore, even though the Wizard Tower has a department that specializes in making potions and runes, it still has to take over the shops in the Apprentice District Exchange.

Reduce the total amount of items that apprentices can obtain and allocate them to wizards.

This information was of no help to Lorne; he had already learned it a few days ago when he went to the market to sell runes.

He was simply curious about the specific form of the conscription, and... how to quietly deal with the troublesome Dante and Leonard.

No one knows if they will attack again next time. Rather than letting the threat lurk around us, it's better to deal with it in advance and catch them off guard.

It's impossible to make a move inside the Black Tower. Even though war has already begun, Dante has already become a wizard apprentice, not to mention there's another level three apprentice.

After Dante recounted his observations at the market, Herbert returned the topic to the "recruitment".

"Now that everyone knows about the market situation, I'll tell you the details of the conscription." Herbert cleared his throat:

"Recruiting is divided into many different types."

"Resource gathering, facility destruction, and material transportation are mostly low-risk conscription tasks."

There's very little an apprentice can do; it's clearly impossible for them to fight face-to-face with a full-fledged wizard.

How can a small fireball counter a high-level spell that causes widespread destruction?

The basic spells are upgraded to level two, then level three, and the real transformation occurs at the level of a formal wizard.

It can directly influence the real world through magic, unleashing spells of different ranks: first rank, second rank, third rank...

However, with a large number of apprentices, it's still possible to send them to enemy facilities to cause damage and collect supplies needed for the war.

They're all apprentices anyway, so it won't matter if they die. Rather than being crushed like ants in war, it's better to make them as valuable as possible...

Lorne knew the cruelty of it all, but the others clearly didn't understand the ingenious design.

They were all relieved that they didn't have to go to the battlefield.

"So that means we won't run into any official wizards?" A rare hint of excitement appeared on Lily's face.

"It's hard to say." Theodore lowered his head and thought. "After all, we don't know the specific locations of each conscription."

"But with a certified wizard leading the team, we shouldn't be in too much danger, right..." Dante felt that Theodore was becoming increasingly anxious.

The wizards of the Black Tower are not to be trifled with; they are all capable individuals. In the event of a real emergency, would they really push a few apprentices up to the front lines?

"The recruitment notice will be issued in a day or two," Grena reminded the group.

In a place unknown to all, a full-scale war has already begun, and in the early stages, the apprentices will not be needed.

But wait until the Black Tower's intelligence network infiltrates and brings some useful information, or wait until a certain resource becomes scarce.

Then it was the apprentices and less skilled wizards who came into play.

Whether it's sabotaging enemy facilities, gathering resources, or causing chaos in the Forest of Fireflies, it all contributes to the main battlefield.

Lorne actually hated this feeling.

Because of the conflict of interests between the two major forces or other reasons, they were affected and forced to work for the Black Tower without knowing why.

He didn't really identify with the Black Sun Tower.

Fortunately, the enemy is the Forest of Fireflies, the culprit who caused me to end up here. The harder I fight, the better!

It would be best if that old man in black died in this war too, so we'd never have to live in fear again...

"That's all for today. We'll start the third discussion once the recruitment is officially announced," Theodore announced, standing up.

As darkness fell, a group of people stood awkwardly in front of the ball of light in the open air, under the watchful eyes of the apprentices who stood around watching.

One by one, the group left.

Before leaving, Grena deliberately passed in front of Lorne, giving him a disdainful look and letting out a "tsk".

Lorne, bewildered, stared blankly at the retreating figure of the girl in the short skirt.

Did I offend her?

On second thought, he realized that he had been practicing martial arts for the past two days and hadn't done anything else, and he was only a first-level apprentice.

It seems I've been treated as a burden...
