Lorne tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt incredibly heavy, and he could only feel his eyelashes trembling slightly.

A faint ray of light pierced my eyes first.

He blinked, and the scene before him slowly began to solidify.

Wooden ceiling, the outline of windows, and morning light filtering through the cracks.

"You're awake." A deep, aged voice rang out: "This is Leodan's home."

Lorne twitched his fingers, feeling as if ants were crawling all over his body, a slight stinging sensation accompanied by an itch.

"Sir Sodrion..." He felt a pang of guilt as he saw the elder elf sitting on the edge of the wooden bed.

"Mia told me what happened." Sodrion didn't seem to be blaming him.

"When I arrived, you were already unconscious, and the outside was a complete mess."

"Hmm." Lorne stared blankly at the ceiling, not wanting to think about anything, nor daring to look directly into Sodrion's eyes.

The trouble of yesterday was ultimately caused by my own actions.

On the one hand, there was concern about Sodrion's attitude after learning that the spatial coordinates had been exposed; on the other hand, there was fear that they would discover that he had entered the settlement with a purpose.

"Tell me the whole story," Sodrion said, his authority undiminished.

Mia had already told it that Lorne had known all along that they were elves of the Kenlar race and that they had come for the Tears of the Elves.

However, given this situation, there are too many things that cannot be reasonably explained.

This includes Lorne risking his life in a desperate battle against undead creatures and slaughtering humans who share the same goal.

There might be some hidden story behind this.

Lorne knew perfectly well what Sodrion was referring to, and now that things had come to this, there was no need to hide it any longer.

"I and the three humans outside accepted the bounty for the Tears of the Elf, issued by Lady Elena. The reward is a high-grade magic crystal..."

Lorne told Sodrion everything from how the group received the bounty from Lady Elena, to the elemental riot that occurred when they entered the fire elemental zone, to the discovery of the wizard's artifact in the underground cavern that triggered a random teleportation.

After saying all this, he lay quietly on the wooden bed, awaiting Soderion's decision.

To Lorne's surprise, Sodrion didn't react much, only stroking his beard with a rare look of bewilderment in his eyes.

"It's Elena...she's my daughter."

What?

Lorne felt as if he had heard some earth-shattering news.

Is Lady Elena the daughter of Sodrion?

Why would it bother sending wizard apprentices to resource areas to obtain Elf Tears?

Why?

This news raised a lot of questions, and Lorne racked his brains but couldn't figure it out.

"There are some misunderstandings and conflicts between me and it." Soderion's voice sounded somewhat desolate:

"A few years ago, it left the elven settlement and became a servant under the Black Tower Wizard."

After the battle with Rudolf and his two companions, Lorne realized what he was currently lacking.

Lorne followed Sodrion out of Leodan's house.
