Clinging to the Witcher world to become a god of martial arts
Chapter 42: Collection
Leodan finally got to show off in front of Lorne.
The settlement's chief guard? Lorne rolled his eyes at it: "Is that all the strength you've got?"
Then, without paying much attention to the big, clumsy guy, I quickly caught up with Mia, who had already jumped into the planting field.
"What do you mean!" Leodan tried his best to control his temper.
In the past, it would have definitely rushed up and started fighting Lorne.
After being frozen, it lost consciousness and didn't know Lorne's exact strength; it only knew that Mia's description sounded impressive to the elves.
It wanted to test Lorne's capabilities...
Lorne had no idea what Leodan was thinking, and followed closely behind Mia, becoming the little guy's follower.
He didn't know anything about the appearance of the various medicinal herbs and couldn't offer any help, so he could only stay by their side.
Mia was looking around in the plantation, searching.
It was evening, and the sun had already set.
The sunlight was weak, with only a faint tinge of dark red remaining on the horizon.
A gentle breeze carried a strange, sweet fragrance mixed with the stench of decay.
Lorne stepped onto the newly cleared path; the ground was very soft and made a "rustling" sound.
He looked down and realized that the soil beneath his feet was no ordinary soil; tiny particles shimmered in the afterglow of the setting sun.
"Your Highness, don't these materials need to be collected and preserved using special methods?"
Logically speaking, every medicinal herb has vitality and will gradually wither after being removed from the soil.
However, Lorne was not entirely familiar with the intricacies of the matter and dared not draw any conclusions.
"Brother Lorne," Mia explained while examining the medicinal herbs, "the herbs here are all quite common."
"As long as the potion is made within one day of being harvested, its medicinal properties will not be lost."
The little guy suddenly stopped in his tracks: "Found it! A calming flower!"
It pointed to the small shed in front of it.
The flowers inside are light blue, with light silver patterns along the edges of the petals.
A cool, refreshing aroma filled my nostrils.
Lorne calmed his mind and all his distracting thoughts vanished.
"The Tranquility Flower is also the main ingredient for making the Tranquility Potion." Mia broke off the slender, pale green stems and threw all the Tranquility Flowers into the basket on her back.
Three flowers were picked in total.
It clapped its hands: "That's about enough."
"Oh, right!" Mia suddenly remembered, "There's no green vine in the plantation!"
Green vine? After a preliminary look around, Lorne found that the planting area was mostly grass and flowers.
Aoki vine sounds like a medicinal herb that grows in forests...
"Dad," Mia called out to Leodan on the main road, "Go to Uncle Logan and buy me a green vine and a moonstone."
Leodan did not enter the plantation; he remained there.
He had clearly heard Mia's instructions and nodded.
Then he jumped into the planting area and headed towards the green leafy cottage in the center of the field.
That little hut used to be a shop selling medicinal herbs, no wonder it was located inside a plantation...
Lorne felt that the Green Wood Vine should be considered a relatively rare medicinal herb, since it could only be obtained through purchase.
Leodan left, while Lorne continued to accompany Mia in her search for medicinal herbs.
A long time passed.
As darkness fell, the scenery in the fields gradually became blurred.
The sharp, angular ridges of the field lost their outlines, merging into a deep gray, and most of the medicinal herbs became dark shadows.
The hazy moonlight shone down from the sky, covering the planting area with a layer of silvery glow.
"There!" Mia exclaimed excitedly, pointing to a patch of crops that emitted a faint glow: "Star Tear Grass!"
Mia has collected almost all the other materials except for the Green Wood Vine and Moonstone, which she purchased from Toleiodan.
Silverleaf grass shrouded in mist, licorice root found everywhere, and slender, translucent moon dew grass.
"Finally!" The long and tedious harvesting process was finally over... Lorne was finally free.
He knew absolutely nothing about potions, and the variety of medicinal herbs in the plantation dazzled him.
Thankfully, I'll be getting Greenwood Elixir and Low-Level Starshine Potion soon...
Star Tears Grass is very unique and can be recognized at a glance.
Its stem is dotted with tiny silver specks that shimmer in the moonlight, like fragments of starlight.
"Brother Lorne," Mia said, looking closely at the Star Tear Grass. "It's very beautiful."
Mia took the small basket off and plunged headfirst into the pile of Star Tear Grass: "Roar—"
"Your clothes will get dirty," Lorne said with a smile, lying down next to Mia.
Just treat it like coaxing a child...
The night was as dark as ink, and Lorne and Mia nestled among the twinkling stars, gazing up at the night sky.
A gentle breeze rises, its coolness seeping into the long robe, and the rustling of grass leaves creates a soft, wave-like sound.
"Brother Lorne," Mia said, raising her little finger, "that star is so bright."
"Yes, Your Highness the Little Elf." Lorne was immersed in this tranquil and beautiful atmosphere.
A shooting star streaked across the sky, its extremely thin and bright streak disappearing before we could even marvel at it, as fleeting as an illusion.
"It's a shooting star!" The little guy's eyes lit up, filled with anticipation for something wonderful.
"It's all so fleeting..." Lorne sighed, realizing that beautiful things are always short-lived.
In the blink of an eye, my time in the elven settlement has come to an end.
Once Sodrion has repaired the teleportation array, he should leave.
He figured he wouldn't have any more contact with the Kenlar elves after leaving, and there were some questions he really wanted to know the answers to.
But Lorne wasn't going to pry; he'd rather let those questions fade away in the wind.
"Your Highness, Little Elf."
Before that, he had a question he wanted Mia to answer: "Why do you trust me, a human, so much?"
Lorne didn't think it was because of the child's naivety.
At first, Mia was very afraid of herself, but later she completely let down her guard. Lorne wanted to know why.
Mia smiled, gazing at the starry sky, her eyes sparkling: "Because Brother Lorne can create 'The Ideal Country,' he can't be a bad person."
It turns out the little guy had already discovered it...
Lorne stared at Mia's profile; the silver-red blood vessels on her face looked even more terrifying under the moonlight.
"Brother Lorne, Mia often thinks that the world is so unfair. Why are we born with a curse?"
"We can't go out into the world; we can only stay in this small space."
"Everyone always says that humans are evil, including my mother, but they have never had any contact with humans."
"Brother Lorne is very gentle; he didn't look down on us because of our ugly appearance..."
"Let's go make some potions," Lorne said, standing up and interrupting Mia.
There are some things he cannot change, nor is he capable of changing.
He hadn't even secured his own safety yet, and leaving the settlement would mean facing the problem of survival in the Black Tower.
How can one then talk about helping others?
Simply listening to suffering will only increase your sorrow and frustration, and cause anxiety.
Instead of wasting this time, you should practice the Three-Fold Strength technique or study talisman literature.
That way, at least it will be helpful to oneself.
"Mmm." Mia composed herself and took Lorne's hand for support as she stood up.
Then I picked a few star tear grass plants and put them into the small basket.
