Clinging to the Witcher world to become a god of martial arts

Chapter 100: Ruins, A Return to Familiar Place

Lorne carefully avoided the deep pit behind the entrance, then lingered for a while until all the apprentices had passed him before running to the back of the line.

They clearly had no specific destination; they were simply following the strongest man aimlessly forward.

Beyond the deep pit lies the dwelling place of the farmers of the Walt Estate.

The once bustling wooden houses are now nothing but a charred wasteland.

As far as the eye could see, there wasn't a single intact house, only countless charred wooden remnants, like the ribs of wild beasts, menacingly pointing towards the sky.

Comparing the scene to his memory, Lorne quietly broke away from the rear of the group after they entered the residential area and headed towards the side where the group was moving.

After walking about ten steps, I heard hurried footsteps behind me.

Unlike the apprentices' dense trampling, this footsteps were coming from their direction.

who is it?

Lorne felt his presence in the team was minimal; no one would notice him except perhaps the burly man, who might keep an eye on him out of suspicion...

Looking back, his gaze met an unexpected face, with a few tufts of hair sticking out on its head.

Penny's face looked terrible; the magical pollution within the manor had also caused disturbances in her mental state.

She steadied herself and asked, "Where are you going?"

"This doesn't seem to concern you." Lorne turned his head away and quickened his pace.

"It's...dangerous!" Penny ran up to Lorne and reached out to stop him.

Lorne was speechless, and he began to understand the meaning of the term "Saint Mary".

It takes a lot of heart to care about the lives of complete strangers.

"Miss Penny, we're not very familiar with each other," Lorne said politely. "Being too kind isn't a good thing."

After saying that, he tried to get around the girl with the ahoge (cowlick).

Who could have predicted that Penny would relentlessly pursue Lorne, constantly hindering his progress?

"The situation inside the Wall Manor is unknown and may be dangerous. Leaving the group rashly is no different from courting death."

Lorne rolled his eyes so hard they almost reached the sky, but he was helpless.

The other party was trying to persuade me with good intentions; it's not really possible to turn against me or resort to violence.

"Don't act impulsively for the sake of saving face; your own life is the most important thing!"

Amidst the soft patter of footsteps, the girl with the ahoge suddenly uttered this sentence, leaving Lorne momentarily at a loss for words.

It turns out that Penny mistakenly believed that Penny had left in a huff because she refused to join Boulder on the shuttle and was gossiped about by the apprentices.

This can't be explained either...

I can't say that all those apprentices are weaklings and useless except for the big man. I'm stronger than them, so there's no need for me to follow a bunch of good-for-nothings.

"Do I look like a child?" Lorne's speechless expression was already written all over his face, but he still patiently explained:

"I'm very rational. My impulsive departure wasn't due to emotions. You should hurry back; you can still catch up with the main group."

"No, it will be dangerous for you to be alone." Penny didn't believe Lorne's explanation and persisted.

Lorne didn't bother arguing with this guy, and simply reminded him, "If you get into danger, I won't help you."

"Um..."

For the rest of the distance, the two didn't have much to talk about, and Penny, who didn't seem very outgoing, didn't say a word.

The atmosphere remained awkward throughout.

Lorne walked ahead, with Penny following behind, both in silence.

Only when they reached an open area littered with swords and weapons did Penny ask, "Where is this place?"

The entire area was reduced to a charred outline, with badly damaged weapons mixed in with tattered cloth.

"The barracks," Lorne blurted out.

Continue walking forward along the outer perimeter.

The huge warehouse was cut open at an angle, revealing a smooth cut surface. On the remaining ruins, there was a huge dark green flame handprint.

The surface appeared calm, but the air itself was subtly boiling.

"here..."

"Grain depot".

"You know so much about the layout of the manor?" Penny was somewhat surprised, and praised her with admiration, "You're very knowledgeable."

They then followed Lorne into a terraced field, carefully avoiding the warehouse that still bore the influence of the wizards.

We circled around the top of the terraced fields and then descended to a fairly large meadow where some greenery still remained.

At the other end of the meadow, there was a complete wooden house standing.

"Livestock farm".

Lorne provided the answer before Penny even asked.

Three big question marks rose in Penny's mind as she looked up and down at Lorne, who was walking forward nonchalantly, with a puzzled gaze.

I feel like something's not right, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Stepping over the dilapidated wooden fence, Lorne gazed at the wooden house at the end of the path, recalling the night he fought Andrew to the death.

At the time, he, Theodore, and their two children were imprisoned in the cabin, awaiting their execution the following day.

It is guarded by Andrew and Ralph.

After killing Andrew and Ralph, Lorne and Theodore officially began their escape.

I wonder if those two guys managed to escape? Lorne thought of the blond boy and girl in his mind.

Whether they were ultimately burned to ashes or survived like me, and even joined the wizarding forces, is unknown.

That remains to be seen.

Lorne didn't know the two guys either, and they had no connection whatsoever. The only thing they had in common was that they had been captured and were considered sacrifices.

The story of his escape is shrouded in many mysteries.

It was strange that he and Theodore had run many miles without being pursued.

Furthermore, the old man in black robes is at least at the level of a formal wizard. Doesn't he have the means to track and move quickly?

Having witnessed Hyman's strength, Lorne absolutely refused to believe that a formal wizard couldn't catch up with a few mortals.

People would laugh their heads off if they told anyone...

Before I knew it, I had arrived at the wooden house, the door wide open.

As it is located on the edge of the manor, it is not easily affected by the wizards' battles.

Lorne stepped out, looking towards the door with mixed feelings.

There were still faint dark red marks left on the floor there.

That was my first unavoidable choice since coming into this world, a choice between mercy and survival...

Penny stopped and looked at Lorne, who was standing under the eaves in a daze, with a puzzled expression. She found Lorne's reaction very strange.

It's like this isn't my first time here.

"Have you... been to Wall Manor before?" Penny asked tentatively.

There was no response.

Lorne didn't want to answer, nor did he know how to describe it.

For him, Wall Manor was the place that almost cost him his life.

But for the original owner, it was the place where she had lived since childhood, her hometown, and a place that held many beautiful memories.

After transmigrating, the original owner's memories and emotions were indirectly transferred to Lorne.

It was as if she had experienced those things herself, as if she had a very long dream, completely ignoring the fact that Lorne knew he couldn't do it.
