Chapter 153 Guanyin's Answers

Guanyin smiled and pointed her finger: "I have come to see you, benefactor, on the instructions of the World-Honored One. I have a great opportunity to bestow upon you!"

Lynn asked calmly, "Please teach me, Great Master, where does destiny come from?"

Guanyin looked him up and down before continuing, "When the World-Honored One came, he told me that you were neither human, demon, immortal, nor monster. Now it seems that wasn't quite accurate! I never imagined you had shed your zombie body and cultivated yourself into an immortal!"

However, she showed no disappointment whatsoever; on the contrary, her smile grew even wider.

She was in charge of the journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, and Lynn was an assistant whom Buddha had sent to win over, so naturally, the stronger Lynn was, the better.

"However, you are originally a zombie. Even if you become an immortal, you will be rejected by the celestial realm and will not be able to enter the Heavenly Court!" Guanyin said with a smile. "Our Buddhist sect does not care about such things as origin. If you help me accomplish a great task, you will also have the opportunity to become a Buddha in the future!"

"What? The Heavenly Court also values first degree?" Lynn was speechless. However, he had the panel and didn't care whether he joined the Heavenly Court or not. His main goal was to improve his strength and get the World Winch to position itself.

Thinking of this, he looked at Guanyin with a smile and asked, "I have only recently become an immortal and am not yet clear on how the realms of immortals are divided. Could you teach me, Great Bodhisattva?"

"Huh!" Guanyin looked at Lin En with some surprise. She thought Lin En had a lineage that allowed him to become an immortal so quickly. She didn't expect him to be a complete novice who knew nothing.

However, the division of realms among immortals was something Lynn could easily figure out with a little inquiry, even if she didn't tell him. So she had no intention of hiding it and instead smiled and said, "Since you have become an immortal, you must have comprehended a great Dao!"

Before Lynn could answer, she continued, "The division of the immortal realm is mainly determined by the degree of comprehension of the Great Dao. One who has comprehended 30% of a Great Dao can be called a Celestial Immortal, one who has comprehended 70% is a True Immortal, and one who has completely comprehended a Great Dao is a Golden Immortal!"

"The Great Dao is further divided into the Innate Great Dao and the Acquired Great Dao. Generally speaking, immortals who comprehend the Innate Great Dao are stronger than those who comprehend the Acquired Great Dao!"

"So that's how it is..." Listening to Guanyin's explanation, Lynn finally understood the realms between immortals. He was currently comprehending both the Great Dao of Innate Power and the Great Dao of Acquired Poison, with progress in both at around 30%. In terms of strength, he was considered one of the stronger immortals who had just become celestial beings.

"And I can add some more!"

……

Then, Guanyin took the initiative to introduce Lynn to those important figures from beyond the human realm.

For example, the four Buddhas of Buddhism: Dipankara Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, and Tathagata Buddha. The three Daoist patriarchs of Taoism: Taiqing Daoist, Yuqing Daoist, and Shangqing Daoist. The five Heavenly Emperors of Heaven: Jade Emperor, Ziwei Emperor, Changsheng Emperor, Tianhuang Emperor, and Houtu Emperor. The three Sovereigns of the human race: Fuxi, Shennong, and Xuanyuan.

These figures are all Golden Immortals who have fully comprehended a Great Dao!

Buddhist bodhisattvas, Taoist disciples, and celestial deities like Guanyin herself are mostly true immortals who have comprehended more than 70% of the Great Dao.

As for celestial beings, there are many: Arhats and Dharma protectors in Buddhism, heavenly soldiers and generals in the Heavenly Court...

……

Lynn shook his head speechlessly: "So, if I go to the Heavenly Court, I can become one of the 100,000 heavenly soldiers tasked with suppressing the Great Sage Equaling Heaven?"

After thinking for a moment, he asked, "What is the great undertaking that the Great Master spoke of?"

Upon hearing this, Guanyin knew that Lin En was already interested, and she was overjoyed: "Why don't you come with me, benefactor, and we can discuss this matter in detail!"

Lynn nodded: "Okay!"

Immediately, the two figures disappeared into the air. Apart from the city below, which had been transformed into grassland, it seemed that nothing had ever happened here.

……

Eighteen years later, in a marketplace, a fat, big-eared monk was lecturing his disciple: "...Xuanzang, killing with a single blow is not the true principle of exorcism..."

As he spoke, he casually grabbed a venomous snake from a tree and pulled out its fangs: "...You must remember our exorcism philosophy. Why do demons become demons? It's because people's hearts are corrupted by demonic nature. We must remove their demonic nature and preserve their goodness. The 300 children's songs are meant to awaken people's true goodness and beauty...Xuanzang, you won't doubt our philosophy, will you?"

The disheveled young man shook his head blankly: "No, Master, I just doubt my own abilities. I could have saved so many more people!"

……

Above, in the clouds, Guanyin, dressed in a tight-fitting outfit but with a dirty face, and Lynn, dressed in a black robe, stood together, quietly watching the conversation between the two below.

Before this, Xuanzang, a disheveled young man reincarnated from Jin Chan, went to the river to subdue the river demon that was actually Sha Wujing. He tried to awaken the true goodness and beauty in the person who had taken the medicine by using "Three Hundred Children's Songs," but was instead beaten up by the river demon. It was only thanks to the timely intervention of an incarnation of Guanyin disguised as Miss Duan that the river demon was sealed away.

Lynn was speechless and whispered, "Why make things so complicated? Why not just let me take Xuanzang to the Western Paradise to retrieve the scriptures and bring them back?"

Eighteen years ago, he agreed to participate in the journey to the West with Guanyin. However, he waited for eighteen years until Xuanzang came of age, and the story began.

"It's not that simple!" Miss Duan shook her head: "To obtain the scriptures, the world must desire them. If the world doesn't want the scriptures, then what is obtained is not the true scriptures!"

"Therefore, Xuanzang had to go through all these experiences before he could become the person the people of the world aspired to be, and only then could he represent the people of the world to go to the Western Paradise to obtain the scriptures!"

Lynn shook his head and looked at his panel.

Celestial (686/1000).

Over the years, he has added the remaining 675 Origin Points to his cultivation level and has also worked hard to advance his progress to this point.

"Relying on my own cultivation is too slow. I need to kill more enemies to obtain Origin Points!" Lynn thought to himself.

Meanwhile, below, after offering Xuanzang some comforting words, Buddha finally managed to soothe him. He continued his journey to subdue the pig demon Zhu Wuneng.

Under the guidance of Guanyin, Lynn descended from the clouds to pay homage to the Buddha.

"World Honored One!" Guanyin clasped her hands together in prayer.

Lynn also respectfully said, "Greetings, World Honored One!"

The Buddha smiled and looked at Lynn: "Benefactor, you possess profound Buddhist nature and have a karmic connection with the Buddha!"

As he spoke, his gaze swept over the Emperor's Sword that Lynn was carrying on his back.

Originally, after slaying the Black Mountain Demon, Lynn took the Human Emperor Sword to Yan Chixia, intending to return it to him. However, Yan Chixia refused to accept it, believing that Lynn had already gained the Human Emperor Sword's approval and that the sword preferred to stay with Lynn!

Lynn didn't dwell on this, and thus, the Emperor's Sword remained in his possession.

"You flatter me, Your Excellency!" Lynn had some vague suspicions about those people's schemes, but he pretended not to know: "Anyway, once my World Winch can locate this realm, all your schemes will be in vain!"

The Buddha nodded: "Once Xuanzang's journey to the West is over, you will have a position of great importance in our Buddhist community!"

"Thank you, Venerable One!" Lynn said.

"Alright, you can go now! Don't let anything happen to Xuanzang!" Buddha said with a smile after encouraging Lynn.

Guanyin and Lin En nodded, then rode the clouds to chase after Xuanzang, who had gone to subdue the pig demon. Meanwhile, Tathagata stood in place, watching the direction the two had gone, his eyes filled with a profound meaning: "This is a struggle for destiny between our Buddhist and Taoist sects. What role do the Human Emperors play in this? Forcibly creating a celestial being in the mortal realm—is this your method?"

Since the Great Calamity of the Investiture of the Gods, humans and gods have been separated, and for countless years no immortal has been born in the mortal realm. And yet, at this very moment when he was planning his pilgrimage, a zombie, transcending the Three Realms and the Five Elements, has become an immortal? "Regardless of your schemes, the course of events has been set, and the rise of Buddhism is unchangeable!" The Buddha smiled. "If you're only here to claim a share, how about I offer you a position of honor?"

……

At the Gao Lao Zhuang Hotel, a young couple, guided by a puppet controlled by Zhu Bajie, sat down at an empty table.

The two then began a disgusting conversation.

"Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, rich but not greasy at all—how can roast pork be so delicious!"

"Yes, the layout here is quite unique." The man pointed to the nine-toothed rake not far away and said, "Look, isn't that candlestick beautiful?"

"But she's not as pretty as you, senior brother." The woman looked at the man with a lovestruck expression.

"Why are you always so concerned about my appearance!" the man said impatiently. "Are you really that shallow?"

The woman didn't care at all and said coquettishly, "What girl doesn't like handsome guys?"

The man feigned silence, leaning on the stone table with one hand and covering his face with his palm to prevent the woman from seeing him.

"You're angry already?" The woman grabbed the man's arm and tugged at it, saying, "Oh, let me see, let me see, just a look."

"Alright, alright, alright!" The man reluctantly lowered his hand, turned to face the woman, and said helplessly, "I'll let you look to your heart's content, look until you die, is that alright now?"

The two stared at each other for a long time, then the man muttered in dissatisfaction, "How come you're still not dead?"

The woman showed no sadness at being rejected, and looked at the man with a smile, seemingly mesmerized.

It wasn't until Zhu Bajie appeared, revealing his true form, and killed the disgusting couple, turning their souls into puppets and their corpses into roasted pigs, that everything returned to calm.

After dark, under the moonlight, a young man with disheveled hair, leaning on a bamboo stick, also arrived at the Gao Lao Zhuang Hotel.

This person was none other than Chen Xuanzang, the exorcist who had come here on his master's orders to subdue Zhu Bajie.

As soon as he entered, he saw that the entire hotel was brightly lit and full of guests dining there.

"Welcome, welcome to Gaojiazhuang." As soon as he stepped down the steps, a middle-aged woman immediately approached him, warmly taking his hand and leading him along the way, introducing the place as she went. "You have excellent taste, sir. Our food is delicious, and the decor is beautiful. All our guests love it. Look at this candlestick, isn't it tasteful?"

"You can tell how delicious our food is by looking at how many repeat customers we have. Also, this is our signature roast pork, which is very fragrant and crispy."

The middle-aged woman kept chattering as she pulled Xuanzang inside!

"We have a lot of customers today. Please wait a moment, sir, while I find you a seat."

After she finished her introduction, she went to find a seat.

Chen Xuanzang stood in the middle of the hall, looking around. Everything was an illusion in his eyes. The candlesticks, the guests, and even the roast pig in the oven were all exposed and could not be hidden from him in the slightest.

"Sir," the middle-aged woman's voice sounded behind him, "We've found a seat, please follow me."

Chen Xuanzang turned around expressionlessly, not following the other party, but directly stating, "I am an exorcist, reveal your true form."

"What...what did you say?" the woman asked innocently.

Chen Xuanzang mustered his courage and threw a powerful punch at the woman's face. But the woman grabbed his fist: "Fine, you'll do it then!"

Seeing that Xuanzang was about to be beaten to death by these puppets, Guanyin shook her head: "I should go down now!"

Inside the hotel, Miss Duan, an incarnation of Guanyin, pulled Xuanzang aside and then violently punched the puppet into powder. Afterward, she let out a soft shout and threw out the Wuding Flying Ring in her hand. As the ring flew, it split into two, then four more, and with continuous splitting, it appeared in a dense cluster in the blink of an eye.

"Boom! Boom! Boom..."

All the puppets were powerless to resist and were blown apart, turning into dust.

"These contraptions you conjure are no fun at all. Come out now." Miss Duan casually retracted the golden ring, dusted off her hands, and stood in the center of the hall with her hands on her hips, shouting, "Come out here!"

In an instant, Zhu Ganglie charged out. After a fierce battle, Zhu Ganglie revealed his true form, while the injured Miss Duan pulled Xuanzang to a riverbank.

Xuanzang chose to ignore Miss Duan's flirting, but he was actually already smitten.

……

Early the next morning.

In a daze, Chen Xuanzang found his Buddha master.

"Xuanzang, are you enjoying this?"

The Buddha looked into Chen Xuanzang's eyes with a smile, as if he knew everything, and asked a question before his disciple could speak.

Chen Xuanzang asked, bewildered, "What's so great about it?"

"You've been flirting with girls," Buddha said with certainty.

"Master, what did you say!" Chen Xuanzang quickly protested, "How could I possibly be chasing after girls?"

The Buddha said no more, but instead asked, "What is your view on matters between men and women?"

"Love between men and women is just a personal matter, and it has nothing to do with me," Chen Xuanzang said earnestly. "I am here to cultivate for the sake of universal love."

The Buddha, clearly having heard such remarks countless times, held up a roasted goose leg and asked, "Want some?"

"I don't want to," Chen Xuanzang said firmly.

Upon hearing this, Buddha smiled and began to gnaw on the goose leg.

Upon seeing this, Chen Xuanzang quickly advised, "Master, this is not right; it violates the rules of the monastic community."

The Buddha chewed heartily and said, "I don't care about goose leg, so it's fine for me to eat it. You want to eat it, but you say you don't. You're just a little bit short of it."

"It was just a tiny bit off."

The Buddha's voice carried a strange power, and Chen Xuanzang's mind kept replaying the words. His pupils gradually dilated, as if he was about to gain some understanding.
